The journey for a family experiencing life with a child born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) can be daunting, unsettling and down-right scary. The program supports heart babies and their families at many points throughout the child’s development through adulthood, many thanks to generous supporters like you.

Touchdown for safety! We are in awe of this amazing AED donation. Earlier this week, 89 AEDs were donated to athletic trainers in Charlotte area schools! The HEARTest Yard, founded by Greg Olsen, teamed up with Atrium Health Foundation, One Beat Medical and Defibtech (that's us!) to help make it happen. High School and Middle School student-athletes from across 8 counties in South and North Carolina will benefit. Thanks to all the organizations and people who were involved! Introducing Madison, the newest addition to The HEARTest Yard Internship Program for the summer. Madison is a senior at UNCC majoring in Psychology. In 2022, she was honored with the Outstanding Community Service Award by the Union County Sheriff's Department for her impactful work with children facing trauma.

A true Charlotte local, she's all heart for her hometown. When she's not ruling the pickleball court, she's playing fetch with her sidekick, Banks, her adorable golden doodle. Family, friends, and fun are her fuel!

Today, we have the absolute privilege of celebrating TJ Olsen – on his third heart-iversary! ❤️

Born with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), TJ has been a fighter his entire life - enduring multiple open-heart surgeries, along with countless doctors appointments and procedures. His biggest life-changing surgery occurred three years ago today - on June 4, 2021.

TJ was in heart failure and underwent a full heart transplant at Atrium Health Levine Children's Hospital in Charlotte, NC. The overwhelming outpouring of support you all showed our family during that time cannot be highlighted or recognized enough, so thank you!

Whoever the family is out there who had the courage and selflessness to donate the heart to TJ, we are eternally and deeply grateful for your love. We think of you and pray for you often.

Now we celebrate that TJ is back to playing baseball, running around with his siblings, Talbot and Tate, and enjoying life to the fullest!

TJ, we’re so proud of you and how far you’ve come!
