Today is a day to celebrate the hug-in-mug that is TEA! But it was designated by the United Nations to support the cultural and economical significance of tea?

For centuries, tea has been a keystone of culture, and the source of livelihood for many families.

We can all agree that tea brings about a sense of ritual and comfort for those who drink it, but also accounts for a world-wide industry that provides jobs from tea-plucking, to blending to flavoring. It’s a vital, yet under-recognized part of the agricultural sector employing millions of people, particularly women, who make up the majority of the workforce in tea plantations.

Economically, we can consider purchasing tea from our local vendors in lieu of grocery stores! Chances are your local shop has done a bit of research into their sources, and by supporting smaller businesses we keep the money in our own economy - furthering our own local tea industry!

Mother’s Day began in America the early 1900s, inspired by Anna Jarvis to honour the sacrifices mothers make for their children. Globally, moms often handle the majority of essential, yet unpaid, household duties. Today, I especially honour my mum, who cares tirelessly for my dad as he battles Alzheimer’s. Her dedication allows him to navigate daily life despite the challenges of his degenerative illness.

I’m grateful for my privilege of peaceful living conditions and continue to educate myself and support global maternal freedom, particularly for the women of Palestine. 🇵🇸

🍵Matcha Monday🍵

I got an interesting comment last week asking me if I could convince someone to like matcha, so let’s talk about it!

The flavour isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. While we can make matcha lattes and add sugar or flavour, nothing can cover up the bitter taste of bad matcha.

It’s important to try high quality matcha, which should have a good balance of umami, sweet, and delicate grassy notes. That way there’s no leaving a bad taste in your mouth!

We’re making room for the spring and summer blends, so some teas are about to get VAULTED!

But before they do, let’s sweep them off the shelf at discounted prices!

🌹Rose Hill Earl Grey🌹

A few months ago, I was asked to create a tea based on the new book, Wild Love by and Rose Hill was born!

Delicate bergamot kissed with rose petals, the blend was inspired by the romance woven into the novel’s pages. This match is a steamy affair that shouldn’t be kept secret!

Thanks to everyone for the shoutouts from the promo package! It’s always a pleasure to create a new tea!

🍵Matcha Monday🍵

How do we feel about afternoon matcha?! Lots of people say they can’t have caffeine later in the day, but this is where we send matcha to the rescue!

Because the caffeine in matcha is released into the body at a slower rate, the effect is more of a slow burn instead of feeling “wired” or jittery. There’s also no crash then immediately feeling like we need more to keep the energy up!

Now. Please excuse me while I gear up for an afternoon cup!

🌱Clean and Green🌱

Loving the light, crisp hue of this liquor! Yuzu You is blended with cornflowers, marigold petals, mallow and orange blossoms for pops of colour resembling the fruit, but when it’s steeped it just looks so…. calm😊

Does the week ahead seem puzzling? Maybe there are some pieces missing? 🧩🍵

One thing that always makes things seem a little less chaotic is a matcha every morning. Taking the time to make it and enjoy it reminds us to slow down and savour the moment!

I love how large the leaves of this Ti Kwan Yin get! It’s an organic oolong with no astringency and a natural juicy floral flavour that unfolds perfectly with the melon and strawberry flavours in Watermelon Sugar.
