A major debut for FIA Karting in Slovakia

The third competition of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior and the second competition of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy will take place from 20th to 23rd June 2024 in Slovakia at the Slovakia Karting Center.

The Slovakian competition will see another increase in participation with a total of 252 entries, including 15 wild cards, from 62 nations across five continents, divided between 95 OK, 106 OK-Junior and 51 Academy drivers.

The Slovakia Ring makes its first appearance among FIA Karting competition this year, as did the Steel Ring in Třinec (CZE) and the Rødby Karting Ring (DNK) in 2023. The Slovakian track shares a relatively short length with its two predecessors, in this case 1172 m, and a large number of tight corners resulting in a moderate average speed. These characteristics are reminiscent of the original circuits where karting’s reputation was built, while the karts will compete in an anti-clockwise direction. Teams and drivers have only used the circuit in 2024 and will be competing in the FIA Karting competition with a limited amount of data.

Located in the far west of the country, in Orechová Potôň, the Slovakia Karting Center is close to the capital Bratislava, as well as the Austrian border. It also includes an FIA-approved car circuit opened in 2009 that can also accommodate motorbikes and trucks, as well as a centre dedicated to safe driving. […]

Three categories on the track at Val d’Argenton

The second Competition of the Mondokart.com FIA Karting European Championship - OK & Junior taking place in France on the Val d’Argenton circuit will also see the start of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy from 25 to 28 April 2024.

A total of 244 Drivers from 62 nations on five continents are entered, with the Competition setting a new record seeing 90 Drivers entered in OK, 103 in OK-Junior and 51 in Academy.

A renowned circuit that has been graced by some of the racing greats including Nico Rosberg, Fernando Alonso, Robert Kubica, Kimi Raikkonen, and Lewis Hamilton, Val d’Argenton makes its return to the FIA Karting calendar after a 14-year absence.

1280m long and 8m wide, the circuit was resurfaced in 2022. Its layout is still very popular with the Drivers, but the international teams are not used to its selectiveness. The ability of both Teams and Drivers to adapt to different conditions will be essential in the quest for performance.

Record field for flagship World Championship event in Franciacorta

Held in northern Italy on the Franciacorta track from 6th to 8th October 2023, the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship - OK & Junior has an exceptional field of 241 entrants from 57 nations breaking all previous records.

The Italian event underlines the healthy state of international karting and FIA Karting competitions in 2023. An absolute benchmark, the Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship - OK & Junior has exceeded all expectations this year in terms of participation figures, with 115 OK and 126 Junior drivers expected in Franciacorta for the season's flagship event. Among the 57 countries represented, the presence of newcomers such as South Korea, Malta, Mozambique, Taiwan and Vietnam testifies to the growing interest in the discipline.

The Franciacorta circuit, which has been part of the FIA Karting calendar since 2022, has made a name for itself in the sport in just a few short years. With a length of 1,300 metres, its fast and demanding layout presents a unique challenge. In order to optimise performance right to the end, tyre management must be taken into account in both driving and chassis set-up. MG Tyres is the exclusive tyre supplier for the OK category, as is Vega for the OK-Junior category.

As has been the case in all FIA Karting competitions since the start of the year, the fuel used at Franciacorta is a 100% renewable product made from second-generation biological components and synthetic fuel produced by German manufacturer P1 Racing Fuels. [...]

Strong, diverse entry for exciting programme in Wackersdorf

The Mondokart.com FIA Karting World Championship - KZ will be held on the Pro Kart Raceland circuit in Wackersdorf, Germany from 7th to 10th September, 2023. The programme also includes the KZ2 World Cup and the 2nd edition of the FIA Karting International Super Cup - KZ2 Masters for drivers aged 35 and over.

The entry list features over 245 drivers for these three gearbox kart categories, in which 36 nations will be represented. The 8th edition of the FIA Karting Historic Super Cup completes the event's line-up. 34 karts selected for their role in the history of the discipline will be on display, and will have the opportunity to take to the track in demonstrations.

The flagship event of the season for gearbox karts has been particularly well prepared with the support of the German ASN, the DMSB. A special event, the Road to Wackersdorf, was organised at the end of July to enable all interested participants to familiarise themselves with the 1190 m Bavarian track, which had not hosted an international race of this scale since 2017. In addition, the third round of the German Kart Championship was held in Wackersdorf at the end of August.

European coronations in sight in Sarno

The FIA Karting European Championship - KZ & KZ2 is preparing to crown the first champions of the season at its second event from 6th to 9th July 2023 on the Circuito Internazionale Napoli in Sarno in Italy, sponsored by Mondokart.com.

The current version of the Sarno track, which is 1,550m long, remains highly attractive to competitors who are used to epic battles punctuated by twists and turns. The points scored in Spain in the first event give an advantage to the best-placed drivers, but experience has already shown that the course of the second round can be decisive in the awarding of titles. So the tension will be at its highest throughout the race.

The weather expected at the foot of Mount Vesuvius is likely to be hot but not excessively so, with little risk of rain for the time being. Of the 130 drivers entered, 17 have been selected for this one-off event via the wild card system. Both the KZ and KZ2 categories will be equipped with LeCont 'Prime' tyres and 100% sustainable P1 Fuel will be used.

KZ: van Walstijn and Iglesias set to duel at the summit
The provisional standings in the FIA Karting European Championship - KZ put Dutchman Senna van Walstijn ahead of the winner of the first Final, Frenchman Jérémy Iglesias, who was crowned World Champion in 2020. They will be the logical favourites in Sarno, but their expected duel is likely to be decided by three drivers currently in the top five, with a deficit of around 20 points that could easily be recovered. To defend the Italian colours, Danilo Albanese and Matteo Vigano, the 2022 runner-up, will have to take into account the potential of Frenchman Emilien Denner. Lorenzo Camplese (ITA), Tom Leuillet (FRA) and Riccardo Longhi (ITA) are also in with a chance of a good result. Paolo Ippolito (ITA) and Stan Pex (NLD) have the potential to influence the final result. [...]
