I don't celebrate...
(***I wrote this to my email list this morning so I thought I'd share here too)
But, I still had/have a pretty good life....better than most.
A quick personal story & a message...
First, you should know....this is a holiday that I don't celebrate
Not in the traditional sense.
and yes, I have never talked about it, but I feel that now is a good time as any.
I feel comfortable doing so as many of you know me personally as your friend, agent, or as an acquaintance
Either way, I hope this message helps you and gives you perspective
Not uniquely (unfortunately), my parents split up when I was 2 yrs. old, My father swiftly moved on, creating a new family.
I saw my father about once every other year for several years.
By the time I was 7, I never saw him again (it wasn't much of a visit anyway, he just gave me some money to make himself feel better).
I often wondered how my life would be different from that one decision my parents made, none would change my present reality, nor do I wish anything to be different.
I'm proud of the life I've built, and had many challenges that I'm grateful to had to overcome and the many more for the rest of my life.
But you see, I don't have kids of my own and given my past, I don't celebrate Father's day personally. ..however I ALWAYS wish all my friends and family that are either fathers themselves or have a father they can be with.
Today's heartfelt message: celebrate your ❤️ heart out , cherish every moment with the one that never gave up on you 💯 (to give you all they had to give). And to all of you, a deeply sincere 👴 Happy Father's Day. Know that if I ever become a father, I will treasure it more than even I can imagine. I've seen the void it leaves, and I promise to fill it with love.
PS - Those of you that know me well, I'm proud that I can give what I can to my dog Lucy 🐶 , this fb post hopefully proves it.
