Tryna get back on a living spree đ¤
It is with the deepest pain I write this. To my Guardian Angel: I want to say thank you from the very bottom of my heart for being my best friend, the best mom, and overall my fav person in the world. Thereâs nothing I wouldnât and didnât do for you. I made sure you experienced heaven on earth in some form every second I could.
You are an impeccable woman, and Iâm glad I got to see you almost every day and hear your voice at least once a day whenever I traveled. Most of the pictures in my phone are filled with your face, thatâs just how much I adored you.
Holidays and birthdays will never be the same, life will never be same, I will never be the same. People keep asking me how Iâm doing, every breath hurts. Every thought hurts. đevery time I drive, youâre not in the passenger seat dancing to music. You always called me your Guardian Angel, now you hold that title with so much love. With every breath I take, I think of you. I just wish I couldâve saved you. You left this world holding my hand, 12/1/23. I love you, Mommy.đ
Family and friends, details to come of my Queenâs memorial service.
The reason why I connect so genuinely w/ my clients is that I'm a great listener. I know right away from looking at your copy how it could be improved to increase conversions. But more importantly, I know from our initial conversation what it would take for your audience to connect more with you.
For the past couple of years, I've worked with entrepreneurs to launch, create and sell services via emails, website copy, and sales pages from a heartful place of authentic messaging-- some resulting in $100K and close to a million-dollar launches, just to name a few!
I've combined my 8+ years in journalism, PR/media, persuasive writing, and self-love coaching into writing copy that sells and connects to your audience.
You understand the offers you sell, but you need your copy to get MORE eyes on the aligned audience. If youâre ever wondering how to be more visible without being pushy or how to write promotional emails without feeling *weird* about it⌠youâve come to the right place.
I know that where ever you are on your business journey I can help you go from "I don't know what to say to my audience" to "I know EXACTLY what to say to make them feel seen, heard, and understood."
I work with successful, high-achieving business owners who are ready to take their website copy or their email strategy to the next level. Does this sound like something you could be interested in?
You have the audience who is excited to buy your services 1:1, group coaching, digital product, or mastermind that makes a great impact on their life and brings you in the money and testimonials!
If youâre ready to take that first step toward having copywriting that gets your audience to fall in love with your services, Iâd love to hear from you!
Website copywriting tip of the day: Remember to update your website as your professional career and clientele grow.
â
Prioritize being clear and direct more than anything
â
You can also come up with a few headlines and poll a few people to get their opinion
â
Add more places for people to sign up for your email list
â
Make it easy for people to get in contact with you
â
And most importantly, treat your website (especially your homepage) as a moving, breathing part of your business. This includes testimonials, values, services, and brand voice.
I finally found a sustainable living spree era for međ¤
I used to think a soft life meant I would wake up, not have a million meetings, or projects, and not be everything to everybody.
I leaned into the fact that I get to have more than that. That time didnât have to be an illusion anymore or that ânext week would be less busyâ
My soft life went deep into all areas of my life
I now have lots of blank spaces on my calendar while bringing in the same amount of income (and sometimes more)
But I also got an upgrade with friends/support system- my soul craved THIS for years
I have cleaner relationships with people
I sometimes turn off my hardcore rap for smooth jazz
I became more feminine this year
I talk about myself betterâŚsoooo much better
I save a lot of money and still buy whatever I want
I donât limit myself by any standards
I allow myself to dream of the future family/life vision without letting the past get me disappointed - this is BIG for me.
Soft life happened outside of business and outside of my expectations of other people
I still have down moments where I think too deeply but I recognize a better life is existing right now. Damn! đĽ°
Whatâs your definition of having a soft life?
A 4-step approach to writing great copyđđ˝
1. Capture your audienceâs attention - use headlines or pics to get them to click!
2. Maintain your audienceâs attention - make them feel as though they need to keep reading so theyâll be inclined to read the entire message
3. Move your audience into a favorable action - this is your opportunity to make a sale or get them to sign up for something!
4. Test, test, test - in copy, everything is an experiment boo. If nobody buys or registers the first time, that is still good feedback (and tbh, it happens to most of us, thatâs why you should take an experimental approach to everything!)
Try these out today as an experimentâŁď¸
Thinking about skipping the research phase?
Oh my goddess noooo!đž
Research will -
- Force you to do the math
- Tell you if this is a good or not-so-good service before you launch
- Compare yourself to competitors
- Eliminate guessing
- Lead you to the best design
- Help you find your target audience
- Create your positions
- Help you uncover the best benefits of your services
- Settle your arguments
- Tell you if your services are being annoying or understood properly
Donât skip this step girllllâŚas tempting as it is. This can save you lots of time down the line.
Why I do the best I can to cheer for my peers/people/friends OUT LOUDđš
I can look at almost every single photo of me from the past and remember how I felt in that moment.
How many times and moments I had to fake a smileđ¤
Aw hell, tbh, almost every polished profesh photo of me on my page that I took happened literally in the middle of a painfully awful day. An argument, a misunderstanding, a breakup of some sort, an unexpected sad event.
So when you winâwinning being your revenue goals, a baby, a job, marriage, out of depression, body acceptance, better boundaries, a new move, a new home, a new skillâI know it came out of times you prayed for this.
I know it came from some difficult nights or even sadder seasons. Privately.
So Imma cheer you on the best I can, friend. And if you choose to cheer me on, I love you.đš
Or if you choose not to, I love you too, because true understanding is not taking things personally. đš
Believe me when I say every win I have truthfully came after many sliding-down-the-wall crying nights.đŻ
But since I refused to get on here w/ tears running down my face to show vulnerabilityđ¤§
Take my honest words for it đ¤đ˝
You really donât know what people are battling privately.
I know how much it takes to get out of that dark tunnel. That light on you looks so good tho, boo!
Keep going.
XO,
Tori

Rush culture is *everywhere*.
Hurrying up to respond to an email or a DM.
Thinking that somehow, people will think differently of your work ethic or intentions.
One thing I try to say in every audio message is âthereâs absolutely NO rush on responding to my message.â And I mean it!
Say it with me: Rush culture is something I don't have to participate in!

It may not be what you think
Realistically, some of us don't want to make the time to develop a daily writing habit.
But it helps you stand out from everyone who sounds like a cookie-cutter.
It takes these 5 things.
You should find a writing style that:
đ you feel comfortable with (your talking style)
đ expresses your thoughts about language
đ makes it recognizable to your readers
đ reflects your views/values/beliefs about the world
đ can be distilled to use in social media posts, blog posts and newsletters
Have you ever heard of this book called The Dorito Effect?
I havenât read it, but itâs on my list of summer reads!
The book's premise is that the American food industry has become obsessed with adding flavor to everything âeven if the food doesnât taste like it used to or isnât nutritious for you.
Itâs written to help people make better food options âand tend to their cravings by letting go of tasty, addictive processed foods.
Now what does this have to do with marketing??
On the surface of the book, it seems to be that unhealthy foods are the root problem of all of thisâŚ
âŚbut really, itâs a book about humansâ behavioral problems when it comes to food, and how to fix it.
Many service providers Iâve either written for, learned from, or simply observed are brilliant in understanding the behaviors of their clients.

A trick that can improve your sales copywriting to your clients.
Stop speaking to just their pain points.
Instead, speak to their symptoms.
Sometimes, they donât know or want to admit that their âcopy is terrible.â
Or that they have bad parenting/time management/money/sleep/communication/job-seeking/etc. habits.
But through speaking to their symptoms, you get to empathize and feel their emotions more.
âItâs a lot harder to act when someone says, âare you a horrible dancer?â Feels judgmental.
â
And instead, âdoes the thought of dancing at a party make you want to break out in a sweat?â Feels like youâre understanding how they feel.
â Is copywriting hard for you to do?
â
Are you finding that your ads arenât converting to more leads?
â Are you suffering from dealing with your inner critic?
â
Do you tend to be overcritical of yourself, even though other people view you as successful?
Something I learned in therapy - with EVERY life/business change, there is a LOSSđ¨
đLoss of money
đLoss of time
đLoss of a relationship
đLoss of a job
đLoss of what âused to beâ
đLoss of how things âused to feelâ
Loss doesnât have to equate to being negative, but for anyone whoâs dealing with a painful loss.
I see you.
I encourage you to embrace change and focus on the personal growth part of it, too.
Weâve all changed the most when we got out of a painful situation or away from people whoâve inflicted pain on us (their loss, boo!)
You are NOT the same person you were a year and I love that for you. đŤ

What your prospective clients secretly wishes you talked about đđ˝
Whenever I tell other business owners that lately it's been super hard for me to stay productive, I get a relieved expression.
Well... actually, Iâve heard these same words from quite a few women lately.
đ¤đ˝ âEverything Iâm doing is a hot mess right now.â
đ¤đ˝ âMy business feels like a hot mess right now.â
đ¤đ˝ âIâm a hot mess.â
In case youâre struggling right now to get stuff done, Iâm sending along this gentle reminder to be easy with yourself.
Have you ever heard the quote âWhatâs in the way is the way?â
Nobody said bringing your magic or greatness or zone of genius to the table didnât come with chaos.
Hot-mess-me is who is going to get me to solid, secure, and free me. I mean, what other way can it happen, right?
And tbhâŚif your client didnât feel like *some part* of their life isnât a hot mess, then why would they hire you?
đĄWriting exercise to speak about the benefits of your solution:
Practice writing a response to a prospective client saying this to you:
âHey, [YOUR NAME]. I feel like my [topic that you help with] is a hot mess right now.
I have no idea what Iâm doing or how to [result that they want]. I feel so stuck and overwhelmed.â
What would your response be?

đCreate a lead magnet that's perfect for the season
đGet on other people's platforms (podcasts, FB lives, IG lives, community groups) and do a short teaching on a topic
đInvite your audience to get on a call with you and learn about what they really need. If you can, open up for 10 spots on you calendar, 15 min. calls
đCreate a pop-up facebook group for your upcoming webinar. The top 3 most engaged humans win a prize from you!
Whatever you do--make it timely, make it fun, and lead with connection + trust!
I can remember the FIRST time in business as a woman where I seeked external validation.
I worked *really* hard to hear those words, âyouâre going to be very successful.â
Even if it wasnât that exact phrase, a part of me really needed to hear that.
And looking back, it reminded me of how I felt when I was told I was pretty or beautiful for the first time, even when I didnât truly believe that statement or the person.
((I grew up a super shy nerdâand book-reading is still one of my passions today!))
Or even that outfit looks good on me even when Iâm fighting with the body image being reflected back in the mirror.
And feeling super surprised when people give me thumbs up for taking action that seems impossible for others to do.
IDK about other people, but after a while, I got tired of doing things JUST for a thumbs upâŚor even only for money.
I scaled back in the biggest way possibleâŚand when others are going the opposite direction of building teams, creating new programs, and all the fireworks, I have to listen to my mind and body when it says to do nothing.
Even if that means awkwardly getting off zoom with colleagues because I donât have any new thrill-seeking business updates! đ
I canât say for sure Iâve 100% broken free from external validation (I mean, when youâre feeling business-depressed, it DOES help to some degree to have someone see the amazing, glowy you through their lens).
But being aware of it has made me sharper, better at connecting, better at doing a lot and doing nothing âwhichever way the wind takes me. Ahh, I love that for me.
Donât forget to tell yourself youâre doing a great job today.đ
âHope is a discipline.â

Favorite free tools I use for copywriting?
đĄStreak - when I send cold pitches out to potential clients or even to podcast hosts, the streak google chrome extension lets me know if my email is getting opened/links are getting clicked.
Itâs good data to see if people are interested in working with me. And itâs free!
đĄKeywords Everywhere - this helps me figure out what kind of words are trending! Such a nice google chrome extension to have in my back pocket.
đĄGoogle Drive Template - saves me a ton of time from creating proposals, outreach emails, sales emails, contracts, follow-up emails, etc.

#1 way we put our own biases on a prospective client?
Thinking there is no way he/she can afford what you really want to charge.
..and doing so, you:
- discount your value
- feel like you have to put in so much effort
- trade in more time (I'll just give them 2 extra bonus calls)
- and easily forget the other clientsâ businesses/lives you've supported in their growth
I don't blame you, though. With the inflation in the US being the highest since the 80s, and the fact that some people really don't have the same financial resources-->
I donât think I got the real wake-up call about the effects of being in burnout until this month.
While feeling super fatigued and trying to push throughâI actually couldnât push through. I stopped showing up for myself and it affected so many other areas in my business and in my life.
In real lifeârecovering from burnout doesnât look like âone massage and some teaâ and then you feel rejuvenated again (I wish!).
Itâs a series of saying no, closing the laptop, going outside to touch some grass lol, and being around your healthy support system.
I realized just how important it is to:
- Let go of as many copywriting projects as I can
- Book that massage even if it was inconveniencing my previous schedule commitments
- Plan very little on weekends
- And probably a random self-care tacticâŚfind things to make me laugh as much as I can
May is and I encourage you even if youâre not in severe burnout to check in on how youâre managing this beautiful, unpredictable life we get to live.
My #1 go-to Headline trick for website and sales pages?
Writing an imperative statement.
Here are some examples:
đ Get your accounting done without overwhelm or stress
đ Date intentionally so that you can attract the partner of your dreams
đ Make 6 figures in your business and work less than 30 hours a week
Telling your audience what the outcome will be once they begin working with you paints the picture of what's possible and gets to the benefit right away.
Also, sometimes people like to be told what you do (without knowing it!)
PS: Want to have your website reviewed by an expert in website copywriting?

1 hot tip for writing better sales copy â use motivation to handle objections
"people could hire you" â "people could hire you and pay you double what you're making now"
"we deliver the entire e-course fast" â "you get the full course at once so that you can make more $$ in less time today"
good writing = objection-busting and specific outcomes

Here are 3 tips to help you start pitching to podcasts and blogs:đđ˝
â¨Tip #1: Itâs easier to get on podcasts than you think! It might take some trial and error with pitching, but the barrier to entry into the media is significantly lower than it was 10 years ago. Even 5 years ago.
People need fresh stories and ideas every day. How can you talk about your business that would feel interesting??
â¨Tip #2: When approaching a blog or podcast, pick one of 3 categories: Overcoming adversity (do you have an inspirational story to tell that others can relate to? Trick question, yes, you do!).
Talking about how youâre changing the culture in your business industry (what trend are you noticing?
I notice people hate pushy marketers, so I aim not to be one and instead, focus on cultivating relationships. Essentially, this is a âwhat are you doing differently from your competitors?â
Q). Customer endorsements: social proof can help you become wildly credible, and can give people a glimpse of your brand.
â¨Tip #3: You can find 5-10 media sources (podcasts, blog sites, magazines, newspapers) relatively quickly by googling your source and ideal client: ie: âtop podcasts for businesswomenâ
ProtipâŁď¸: Google your competitor, see which podcasts theyâve been on, and see how you can angle a different story! But if their story was recently published, prob good to wait 2-3 months before pitching that same place.
Build your audience this way, you can see a ripple effect in your future launches/promotions.
