This is a little shout out to all florists out there….
Every single day florist have to compete against supermarkets and their flower prices … florists only really have three big events each year (Christmas, valentines and mother’s day ).
Independent florist don’t have the buying power of supermarkets, they can’t say THIS is the price we will pay, because we cant buy billions of roses 🌹
But every individual florist has the same bills to pay as the big boys (rent, wages & all the utilities!)
Every florist has to sit down weeks in advance and plan how many roses they might sell.. they have to pre order from their wholesalers and the spend the weeks leading up to peak times prepping with wrapping, vases, making boxes and writing cards and conditioning flowers. It really is a labour of love 💕
To then see adverts from supermarkets saying buy 12 red roses for £3:99 is like a kick in the teeth. It takes away the skill and professionalism from proper florists! It’s our profession, it’s why we all went to college and got qualifications.
It is remarkable that people can’t see why florist charge what they do. It’s days of prep and if you actually workout the time we spend on each individual order it would definitely be under the minimum wage !
The roses us florist get are first grade roses 🌹 the roses the supermarkets get are 2/3 red grade.
Our roses will last 10 days +, supermarkets properly 3/4.
So if you would like to buy 2nd grade roses, please go ahead, but don’t insult us by coming in and saying I can buy 50 roses for £50, because it will be like comparing a Ferrari with a Fiesta !!
You’ve got this Florists!

Now for the next 6 weeks it will be sparkles, glitter, lights, pine lots of red, sore hands, achy backs, late nights , early mornings and lots of coffee!

Food , flowers and friends, what more could you ask for ??

A very somber week it was making posies for people to go and pay their respects.

It’s been a very strange 10 days.

The flowers in the Queen's funeral wreath featured scented pelargoniums, garden roses, autumnal hydrangea, sedum, dahlias and scabious, all in shades of gold, pink and deep burgundy, with touches of white, to reflect the colours in the Royal Standard flag on which it sat.
Royal funeral wreaths have traditionally been sombre, in white and green tones, says Gemma Kavanagh, from London florist Moyses Stevens, but the colours of the flowers can also be chosen to reflect a flag - which is what we saw on Monday.
King Charles is well-known for his commitment to the environment and, at his request, the wreath was made in a sustainable way - without the use of floral foam but, instead, created in a nest of English moss and oak branches.
Rosemary, a herb, has long been a symbol of remembrance because herbalists thought it was good for memory, says Prof Fiona Stafford, author of The Brief Life of Flowers. "But rosemary is also associated with love and loyalty, and it was used for marriage bouquets or for burials, as well for strewing on the dead. So it's a really, really appropriate one to be part of the wreath," she says.
Rosemary also featured when the King gave his first TV address to the nation. He was flanked by a portrait of his mother on one side and a small silver vase with sweet peas and sprigs of rosemary on the other.
The Queen loved flowers from her garden - every Monday, the gardeners at Buckingham Palace would send up a fresh posy of flowers for her desk when she was in residence. Gardener Alan Titchmarsh recalled in an article that the Queen "loved primroses, lily-of-the-valley and other modest blooms far more than elaborate exotics; something that speaks volumes about her personality

to my wedding day 15 years ago today. These are my beautiful flowers, I loved them then and if I was to get married again tomorrow I think I’d probably have them all again, but maybe even more hydrangeas if that’s possible.
Thank you again to Emma Bouch for helping me and creating the perfect wedding flowers.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Colin Reid on your magically wedding day.

Woodland and natural was the theme.

A simple daisy hand tied ( chamomile, margarita, chrysanthemum) with a touch of gypsophila, tree and ladder fern.

Thank you for letting us celebrate your truly amazing day.

Claire you looked absolutely stunning and Colin the kilt really suited you!

Many thanks for your lovely post.

Stone pit Meadow really is a stunning location, so if you fancy a staycation this July, look no further than staying in these beautiful bell tents in the heart of Kent.

You can order breakfast /bbq hampers with local produce.

The bell tents are kitted out to a high spec, including dried flower deco made by myself and the best bit is they except four legged friends too!!!

This wedding will always be remembered as . Who would have thought there are so many shades of champagne. But I think you can say we have captured it just right. I will also remember it to be the one where we had to battle the 30+ degree heat in a marquee. The flowers survived and so did we!! I may have had a bottle of champagne 🍾 to celebrate too. 😜
Roll on next week, for another wedding and I’m sure another challenge..
