There are many heat-related dangers that pet parents may not think about when it comes to what is safe or unsafe for their companion animals. Her...

Spinny Spin Spindle and her sister Marble are a bonded pair of calicos who must be adopted together. Spinny is as dark as her sister is light, and together they make up the perfect pair!

Two are always better than one when it comes to kittens and these girls will provide a lifetime of fun! They love spring toys, ball tracks, and anything they can make move! Theyโ€™re good with older cats and should be fine with pups with proper introductions. Check out these girls chilling out to a massage! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

Did you miss sweetheart Bubble and her sisters at the adoption event yesterday? Check out our LIVE video for sisters Marble and Spindle chilling out with back massages! These girls are 3 & 1/2 months old and ready to find their families.

Bubble is the biscuit making lap cat of the group. While her sisters play, she will snuggle in and knead away! When we step out of the room she takes off chasing springs and playing ball.

Bubble can be adopted by herself as long as thereโ€™s a young kitty in the home to play with. Small dogs should be fine as long as they are properly introduced.

Stormy update--

We are finally seeing improvement with her eye and all of the infection she has been battling.
Her ๐Ÿ’ฉ is much better and she is eating well, and starting ever so slowly to put on weight.

Thank you everyone who has asked about her and supported her. We hope she is finally out of the woods, we can take a breath and that she continues onward and upward. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿพ

Does your cat have one special interactive toy or do you use a variety for play sessions?

Thoroughly modern Millie has finished the job of raising her kittens and is stepping out to find her forever family!

This high energy two year old loves to play with her toy fish as much as she loves to get pets. Sheโ€™s a talkative girl who would enjoy a kitty friend or a family with older (8+) kids. Sheโ€™s not fond of being carried but will quickly work her way into your heart.

Come meet Miss Millie Saturday June 22, from 2-5, at the Rivergate Petsmart in Southwest Charlotte, NC.

๐Ÿ  Gail really wants to find her home ๐Ÿ
For some reason people don't want to open their hearts to middle-aged kitties and Gail is just hitting her stride at 7 and 1/2.

She's so comfortable in her foster home but doesn't show great adoption events because she gets nervous and wants to hide under her bed, and people just overlook her.

Gail would love nothing more than a calm home, to be your snuggle pal to curl up on the couch and watch Netflix with, she'd love to watch the squirrels and birds out the window, she'd love to just be wherever you are. She's such an easy girl.

There are so many , so many, so many advantages to adopting an adult cat who is past social maturity. One who just wants to be your calm best friend.

And hint hint people at a certain point in their lives really need to consider the perfect match for them is an adult calmer middle-aged or older Kitty and not a kitten.

Please consider opening your heart to Gail and adding her to your life. She is such a sweet sweet girl. You will love her.

So...Stormy is back at the ER hospital.. luckily seeing the same Dr who primarily treated her there. We were happy to hear she was there today. She's Seeing her as an outpatient recheck to save our pocketbooks..(In other words didn't make her come in as an ER walk in saving us that $195 fee)

While her eye has dramatically improved she's now swollen up on that side of her face, and separately which is so bizarre ;she really needed a bath and the Foster discovered an open wound on her leg and then today a new one under her neck. Literally have no idea what's causing that.
Doc is a bit baffled by that as well. Definitely treating with a new course of antibiotics, anti- inflammatory meds etc.
She's definitely eating much better and definitely improved. We hope this is just a minor setback.

If you'd like to donate for Stormy, her original post is here with a fundraiser and other ways to give--

Quick update-- ๐ŸพโคStormy is out of the hospital and back with her foster family. She still needs a lot of supportive care and we've got a ways to go with her, and she will have follow-up Veterinary visits. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers that she can continue to improve, get better and become stronger.

Thank you so very much to all of you who rallied with your donations. We can only do what we do with your generous support.

Stormy is so grateful to have been saved and given this chance at life. Thank you!

As a predator, being digitigrade helps cats approach their prey silently. Since cats are prey themselves, speed is also critical. I find it funny though that as silent as cats can be, they also have the ability to sound like horses galloping down a hallway in the middle of the night when you're trying to sleep.

๐Ÿ™Friends, we have to come to you again asking for support, as this girl is now hospitalized at a 24 HR ICU hospital..

Please read Stormy's story:

A little over a week ago, one of our foster team members who also volunteers twice a month at our pet store center had been taking her daughter to gymnastics practice, when they came off the VERY busy exit ramp off of a major highway and spotted a grey kitten in the brush. After dropping her daughter she went back to try and get her and long story short wasn't able to apprehend her. If you know this extremely busy traffic area, there was a real risk of the kitten darting into traffic, so she had to be careful.

Fast forward she went back and didn't see her at all. Then the next time went armed with a trap determined to get this little one out of harms way. She looked very emaciated. As fate would have it, this time she saw her again in that same spot, as if she was just waiting for someone to help her. She dropped her daughter to her practice again, went back and set the trap, and out of the blue it just started pouring rain. She covered the trap as Best she could with whatever she had handy in her car, after having seen the kitten run again into the thick brush (assumed she was feral), Watched and waited with no luck, left to pick up her daughter and on the way back stopped to check again and there she was IN the trap. โœ”

I'm going to try and fast forward here or else this post is going to become way too long..
At first it was thought she was feral and I myself was in the hospital that night so our volunteer reached out to our VP to see about getting her into a vet asap. Long story short.. at first other than being VERY thin (she weighed just 2.6lbs but was estimated to be about 6 months in age) with a watery eye it was thought she could make a good recovery with meds now on board, vaccinated, small meals, hydration etc.
The foster realized pretty quickly this was NOT a feral cat. Little Stormy (as they decided to name her since she was caught in that rainstorm), was purring, eating and drinking and just seemed so incredibly grateful for being saved. Folks I cannot tell you how many people come off of that exit daily and yet how many just passed her by. I'm so disheartened with what I'm seeing in society right now. This is the worst year we've ever seen. Animal welfare is in crisis.

Well, Stormy was not doing great and back at the vet again Friday, blood work run, f***l run again, given fluids, antibiotics, eye drops for conjunctivitis, appetite stimulant etc. Seemed a little better for a day but quickly went south again (diarrhea, dehydrated, fever again, not wanting to eat, eye looking worse etc) and by Sunday one of our foster team went to give her subq fluids and provide other tips of supportive care and Stormy was taken right back to the Vet yesterday morning...

The Vet called us and said she really needed to be hospitalized where she could receive 24 HR care, so one of our other team members was luckily able to go get her and transport her to the ICU hospital, where she remains. Yesterday we had to pay the $195 ER fee in addition to leaving $1,500 which is 75% of the estimated costs to keep her there for 24hrs.
I just got off the phone with her Dr there and she has gone up and down and really needs to stay there. Friends, we have been upside down for months. The bills keep on a coming (we've got another litter starting their routine vetting times 6 and so many others to care for here). To boot, adoptions are stagnant, which doesn't help cause we aren't even taking in adoption fees. The foster mom paid the first vet bill out of her own pocket as she decided to save the kitty on her own and didn't want to burden the rescue or bother me while I was in the hospital, (that's the kind of person she is), but we have paid the second bill, gotten her the best food and now will be taking care of these costs as Stormy is an SSK girl. This girl is so so incredibly sweet it is apparent to us that she was obviously discarded there like yesterday's garbage..as she seemed to not know what to do and was just waiting stuck in that patch of grass and brush along the highway. She'd been out there on her own awhile. No 6 month old should weigh what a 10 week old kitten weighs.

Friends of SSK, we have over 13,000 followers according to Facebook. If we could just get 20% of you to donate $10, it would make ALL THE DIFFERENCE for Stormy and our stress levels worrying about the finances.
Stormy needs to know she matters and that help DID arrive in time. We hope she can pull through all of this.
Please can you give up a Starbucks or pack a lunch today and donate that money to help Stormy?

You can send any amount via our website savingsouthernkitties.com and hitting the DONATE button there, you can use this direct link to our Paypal..
www.paypal.me/savingsouthernkitty or HERE via this Facebook fundraiser.

Please please SHARE everywhere and keep positive energy and prayers that little fighter Stormy can pull through, turn around and recover. Her system is so taxed she needs all the care we can give her.

Thank you friends for your support for this sweet girl. โค๐Ÿพ
