Tryce Tough
Zach and I have created this page to keep as many people updated on Tryce. 🤍
Praise the Lord!!! Today was a win for Tryce!
We started our day with a dance party at home and then headed to Iowa City for his appointments. We started with an MRI, that he and Mimi rocked, barely any tears and NO OUCHIES! He kept saying in the tube, no one’s gonna hurt me Mimi, right? I’m a big boy! That’s right buddy!
Then on to neurosurgery where we were told that things looked really good. There is still fluid at the base of his brain, but it has gone down so significantly that we may be able to stop the dreaded medication. (Still waiting on a final answer on that.)
His incision looks great and everyone feels so much better about it than three weeks ago. We were prepared to have to do labs again. 😖But were happy to hear that we didn’t need them this time. When she told us we were done, Tryce started jumping , hands in the air and high-fiving everyone. He was yelling “Yay! No ouchies, no ouchies!”
Oncology is supposed to be calling in the next couple of days to discuss the final pathology of the tumor.
We’re being referred to ophthalmology, as there is some question about his vision.
We go back in three weeks for another MRI and hopefully a full release to get his head wet and maybe go to the park or a playground!
Our next fully sedated MRI to check on the tumor and growth will be in August.
Praise God for all of the good that has happened. We know the prayers very specifically helped with the swelling. Continue to pray for fluid reduction, peaceful sleep and fear to be replaced with peace. Pray that Mom and Dad continue to stay strong and that baby girl continues growing and doesn’t try to make an early entrance.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*First trip to the hospital with NO OUCHIES!🎉🥳
*Reduced swelling!
*Dinner delivered by a sweet friend!
Tryce has had a busy weekend celebrating Mother’s Day.
Saturday he had several big behavior episodes, but ended up having a good day celebrating with Nana and Papa. He spent lots of time playing outside. He really wanted to go to the park, which is off limits for the time being, so Mama and Daddy got him a sandbox! This does however, force the disliked bath.
Today they spent the day at Mimi and Da-Pa’s. It was the perfect day to get out his new sprinkler and play in the water. After some initial hesitation, he was all in! Played until exhausted, took a nap and played in the water again. After the sprinkler, he refused to put a diaper on, so he gave the neighbors a show playing naked outside. He only put the diaper on in order to go for a “tractor” ride with Da-Pa.
There were a few small tantrums today, but nothing huge. Right now the biggest issue is fear. He’s afraid of so many things and even worries that one of us might hurt him when changing his diaper. Poor Buddy has been through so much pain that he doesn’t understand and never knows when someone might hurt him again. Sadly, we know it will be Wednesday, when we go for more labs and another MRI. 😕
Please pray for restful sleep for all of them, for his fear to be replaced with peace and for his swelling to not return.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…(weekend)
*Much improved balance
*Time spent with lots of family
*The ability to enjoy all things outside!
What a blessing to have another great day with Tryce. He continues to show us the results of so many prayers. He has had very significant swelling ever since surgery. It was increasing and the possibility of a permanent shunt was discussed. Monday, swelling was increased again. Tuesday, he woke up very swollen, but by evening it was way down. Similar Wednesday. Today, if it weren’t for the large scar, his head looks completely normal! It’s still a little soft back there, but it looks FABULOUS!!!
He had PT today, and it was discussed about getting him in to a speech pathologist, as his speech has definitely been affected. But we’re going to wait a bit and see if the decreased swelling helps.
We had a webinar through the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation today. It was called Riding Out the Storm: Managing Emotional Intensity in Children Affected by Brain Tumors. We definitely know that he is not the only kiddo affected by the severe emotional roller coaster. It was informative, lots of things we already knew because of the training we’ve had for work, but great reminders. It was a little frustrating though, because he talked mostly about kids that were older and kind of skirted our questions about implementing some of these things with a two year old.
Tryce took a good nap, played outside a lot and spent a good half an hour just sitting in the truck with his dad. Sometimes pretending to drive, sometimes just sitting. Right now, Daddy is his favorite person.
He didn’t eat much today and had a bloody nose this evening. Right now he is fighting sleep.
Pray that he gives up the fight and they all sleep well, that swelling remains minimal, and that he gets better emotionally every day.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Almost NO swelling!
*Fun time outside
*Another day with a nap!
Great day today! So many prayers answered! Tryce had a really good night sleep. He woke up happy and with very little swelling. He agreed to diaper changes and wearing clothes in order to go outside and play. He took an afternoon nap, played in his new sandbox, ate a little, took a bath and put on jammies with only slight behaviors. This has been by far the best day since surgery!
Continue to pray for sleep, emotional control and strength for his parents!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day….
*The whole day was a win! Praise God!!!
Today was a pretty good day for the Hugens. Madelyn is feeling much better today, except the sore arm from the tetanus shot. They all got a pretty good night sleep and Tryce woke up happy.
They had lots of visitors today. All of his great grandparents made a visit at one point or another and Nana took the day off to spend time with him. Mom and Dad were even able to run a few errands!
Tryce still had some fits, but nothing major. His swelling was way down today. He still refused to get dressed, so he wore his pajama shirt and a diaper all day. His appetite was not very good, but he was drinking ok.
The weather was beautiful, so he got to play outside at his water table and with his bubble machine. He also played lots with his cars and Magna Tiles. I’m sure Nana will sleep well tonight.
Pray for continued restful nights and reduced swelling. Pray for better control of his emotions and easier clothes and diaper changes. Pray strength into his parents!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Reduced swelling
*Good night of sleep
*No major meltdowns
Today was a good day for Tryce and a kind of rough day for his mom.
After a rough start to the morning, Tryce made it through PT like a champ. As we walked into the hospital he said “No one’s gonna hurt me Mimi, just play.” Oh my heart… No buddy, no one’s gonna hurt you. After PT he finally agreed to put on pants and shoes, no socks, but he was dressed.
Grammy and Grandad brought him a cheeseburger and fries for lunch and he actually took a nap at his regular nap time! We played with his baseball set, golf set, soccer goals, basketballs, cars and bubbles. We’re tired!🥱
He had a few meltdowns during the day and evening, but he came out of them fairly quickly.
He definitely won the day!
Mama had her OB appointment and the did the glucose test for gestational diabetes. No diabetes, praise God, she’s just a little anemic, but she did feel sick and dizzy after, with a very high heart rate. That has since lowered and she is just a little weak. She also had to have a tetanus shot, which can make you kind of achy as well. Baby girl is doing well and growing like she should.
Zach went to work today and it was decided that he needs to take the next three weeks off. T is too much for Mama, in her condition, to handle alone. His work is being fantastic and so supportive. In three weeks Mimi will be done with school and able to be there as much as needed.
Pray for restful sleep, continued healing and regulation of emotions. Pray that Madelyn gets rest and continues strong for the rest of her pregnancy. Pray peace and strength on Zach as he maneuvers this roll of caregiver, supporter and as a homeowner, maintenance man!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Baby Girl is doing well
*Minimal tantrums
* Lots of outside play
Good day today! All in all things were great! Everything has to be a game, or somehow Tryce’s decision to get anything done. Medicine, diaper changes, eating, a bath… But apparently we all played the games pretty well today.
He played outside, we went for a golf cart ride, picked up sticks and of course played with bubbles.
He still has a lot of swelling and gets very frustrated when he loses his balance, but he seems to be gaining a little more stability.
Tomorrow Zach goes back to work and he and Madelyn are both a little worried about Tryce’s reaction to not having Daddy around. Mama has an OB appointment and Tryce had PT, so Mimi will be with them all day. It will all work out just fine!
Pray for a restful night, strength for Zach and Madelyn as the dynamics of their new normal changes, and continued healing, both physical and emotional.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Beautiful day to play outside
*Adults winning the “games” most of the time.
*Minimal mood swings and tantrums!
If you’ve ever doubted the good in the world, you should have been in Fremont, Iowa this morning. The Fremont Lion’s club held a pancake breakfast with all of the proceeds going to the Hugen Family. The Hugen’s moved to Fremont the beginning of November. They haven’t met many people with the winter months and both Madelyn and Zach driving a distance to work each day. Still, this community came together to raise money for them. It was packed with people from town and many supporters from out of town. People introduced themselves and said they were sorry to be meeting them this way and that they were praying for them. One of the members even whipped up some gluten free pancakes for Madelyn! After a bit of a meltdown early and struggle to get clothes on him, Zach, Madelyn and Tryce all were able to make it there.
As a whole family, we are beyond grateful. Grateful for the Lion’s club hosting the delicious pancake breakfast. Grateful for the money that was raised. And so so grateful for everyone, family, friends and strangers that will be friends that showed up to support us.
Tryce had a pretty good day today. He had a few little meltdowns, but none of the huge tantrums. He played with Nana, Papa and Kimmy all morning and Mimi came to play for part of the afternoon. He took his medicine well and didn’t fuss too much about diaper changes. He ate a little better and snuggled onto his Mama for a little nap.
We ask for prayers for peaceful sleep, continued healing, strength for his parents and control of Tryce’s emotions.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Tryce making it to the breakfast
*Fewer meltdowns
*The blessings of small town living
*Lots of love from family and friends! 🩶
Such a hard day today…after a night of no sleep, lots of crying and nothing that would console him, the day was not a whole lot better.
After refusing to put clothes on and throwing such a tantrum, he went to PT in just his pajama shirt and a diaper. He did fine at PT, but the rest of the day was full of ups and downs. I can’t do justice telling about his behavior, but it’s so confusing and upsetting. We went for a walk in the stroller. He got very upset going home, so I kept walking with him. We went to visit his great grandparents and he was very happy while we were there. We then went home and he was mad. He wouldn’t let anyone get him out of his stroller. Da-Pa tried and Tryce screamed and refused. Eventually he got bubbles and started blowing them toward Tryce. He suddenly snapped out of his fit, looked at Da-Pa like it was his first time seeing him and said “Hi Da-Pa”, got out of the stroller and came inside. ???
This was the first day that we saw his mama just about break. They’re all so tired and she’s so upset that she can’t fix this for him. There are times he doesn’t at all seem like the same little boy.
Please pray for peaceful sleep, for emotional and physical healing and pray strength into his parents.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*We got shorts on him for our walk.
*Beautiful day for a walk!
*Bubbles!🫧🫧🫧
Tryce had a much better day today. Sleep is going better and it was a mostly tantrum free day. Still lots of head swelling, but hopefully tomorrow at physical therapy they can get a better handle on the head massage to reduce swelling.
He went to Da-pa and Mimi’s to have dinner and play. The change of scenery was good for everyone.
Mama went to have her nails done. Zach thought she needed out and to do something for herself. When she went to pay, a sweet person had already paid her bill. There really are so many fabulous people in their corner, many that they don’t even know. Thank you to everyone. We are all humbled.
Continue to pray for reduced swelling and regulation of emotions!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*A big dirty diaper!
*Minimal tantrums
*Many reminders of all the people in our corner!
As the roller coaster ride of this journey goes, today was a rough one. Lots of swelling, lots of temper tantrums. One that was really bad. We know that this is part of it. We were told that there would be lots of ups and downs. He doesn’t understand anything that has happened and doesn’t have the words to explain his feelings. Poor buddy…
Nana and Papa came for dinner and Tryce had a good time playing with them. He still had some major tantrums, but not quite as bad.
He did finally have a small bowel movement, but there’s definitely more that needs to come.
He did actually have a good night of sleep! We’ll pray that continues.
Our big prayer request for today is for better control of emotions and continued patience and strength for his mom and dad.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Dinner with Nana and Papa
*A poopy diaper! (Pray for more)
We’re on a roll! Another pretty good night and a major tantrum free day!
Tryce woke up with some pretty intense swelling. They did some of the massage on his head, but didn’t notice much difference.
He was very tired today after yesterday’s big day out and spent most of his day just wanting to lay on the couch. That could be a reason that the swelling didn’t go down as much.
It was mostly a day of relaxing for the Hugens. No visitors, no Mimi or Nana. This is Zach’s last week off, so I’m sure they’re enjoying some time with their little family.
Diaper changes and taking meds continues to be a battle. Eating was a bit of a struggle today, and he hasn’t had a bowel movement for days. He’s not a fan, but Miralax will be pushed until that changes!
Continue to pray for peaceful sleep (we know it’s helping), pray for reduced swelling and pray that he gives his parents a good dirty diaper. Yep…we’re praying for poop!💩
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*No major tantrums!
*Relaxing at home
*Family time, just the three of them ❤️
Today was a good day! After one of the better nights of sleep they’ve had, Tryce woke up in a good mood!
Today was his first physical and occupational therapy session. They spent most of the time just playing and getting acquainted with each other. Tryce warmed up and even sat I her lap. He had quite a bit of swelling in the morning and the physical therapist showed them how to gently massage his head to move the fluid down. Reducing the swelling can greatly improve his balance. They also talked about strengthening back the muscles in his jaw and face. He is drooling a lot and apparently sometimes that can be from muscle weakness as well. He goes again on Friday and then twice a week for a while.
After PT they drove out to Lake Rathbun to check out the campsites. Since napping is not going so well, but sleeping in the car is, they used that as an opportunity for Tryce to get some extra Zzzz.
Later in the afternoon they went to Mimi’s school so that Tryce could see the baby chickens we have. They hatched in our incubators while he was in the hospital, but today he got to hold several and watch them run around on the floor. He thought they were very fun except when they would try to fly!
After a visit from friends/family and a walk in the stroller, they went home for the night.
There were minimal tantrums today and he got to eat beans and rice at the Mexican restaurant. All in all a great day! Praise the Lord!!!!!
Continue praying for peaceful sleep, reduction in mood swings, and continued healing.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*All the things learned at PT
*No major meltdowns
*Playing with baby chicks🐥
*A good nap in the truck
Last night provided a fairly good night sleep without any major nightmares. He woke up with lots of swelling and Daddy was the only one he wanted.
He had a pretty good day with only a few meltdowns. He got to play with Nana all afternoon and Mama and Daddy got some cleaning and organizing done.
He ate better and drank more.
One major meltdown after his bath, but Daddy and a little hide and seek eventually calmed him down.
Diapers and medicine are still a battle that requires either intense negotiating or three man wrestling, but overall a pretty good day!
Tomorrow is his first PT and OT.
Please pray that they all sleep well tonight, that he enjoys, or at least doesn’t hate his appointments tomorrow and that the tantrums become fewer and less intense.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Better day of eating and drinking
*Fun with Nana (and Mom and Dad got things done around the house)
Today was a rough day for Tryce. He slept fairly well, but when he woke up, he was angry and aggressive, trying to get away. Then, like a light switch, he suddenly was his sweet self.
He had more swelling again today. It went down some throughout the day, but he complained about a headache most of the day.
He made his first outing today. He thought he wanted to go to the dinosaur adventure at Hy-Vee until he saw the dinosaurs from a distance. It was a no go. We then went briefly into Hyvee and made it down about three aisles before having a big meltdown. His dad and mom took him quickly out to the truck and he calmed down. We went to Grahams, where he happily ate a chocolate ice cream cone. He soon got frustrated and laid face down in the parking lot next door, refusing to be touched.
Probably too soon for public appearances.
He continued to have major meltdown incidents at home. The only thing I can compare his behavior to is Jack Jack from the Incredibles. His face gets bright red, he screams, he throws things, he bites and he doesn’t want to be touched at all. Then, after a bit of time, he is fine again. This is how his nights have been, but we saw it multiple times today. It’s heartbreaking.💔
Today was a day of very little appetite and not much desire to drink.
We did get out for a walk that he loved and played roll the basketball down the driveway and make people chase after it. (Always a game he loves!)
Please pray for a restful night, less frequent behavior outbursts, no more headaches and reduced swelling.🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Grahams ice cream!🍦
*Nice weather for a walk.
*Tryce being blessed with two parents that are so patient and loving with him and so supportive and loving of each other.
We end our Friday with Tryce and Mimi in bed together, hoping mom and dad will get a full nights sleep. 🙏🏻
His day was again filled with visitors and gifts. (They may need to add on to their house!)
The swelling is back up in his head, but we were told it could be up and down.
Emotions are a complete roller coaster. Taking medicine and diaper changes are horrible. Hitting, spitting and throwing things one minute, laughing, “stealing your nose” and giving hugs the next.
Pray for reduced swelling, less anger and peaceful sleep for all.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*More fun visitors!
*Lots of energy for playing!
Today was a day of wins! Sleep was still rough, but not as bad as some of the nights.
Walking is already looking better, except when he tries to run! More use of the left hand! The swelling in the back of his head has gone down some today! Praise God!
Emotions are still a giant roller coaster. He can be sweet and loving one minute, and then screaming, crying and biting the next. He bit his mama twice today and drew blood during one of these episodes. A diaper change is sure to bring on the rage.
But he was super sweet most of the evening and helped bake a gluten free cake for his mama. He received a sweet gift of a stuffed golden retriever that looks like Nacho, the therapy dog at the hospital. He was so excited!
Continue to pray for a good night’s sleep for all, a calming of emotions and continued healing. He really is a miracle!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Went once in the potty to avoid putting a diaper back on.
*Improved walking
*Nacho!
Today was a pretty good day for Tryce. He got a little more sleep and had more visitors.
Nana came over for the afternoon and dad and mom were able to catch a brief nap. Mimi came after work and did bath time. Friends brought food and snacks and some nice gifts were received.
Regulating emotions is still a big challenge for Tryce, and the sheer panic of having his diaper changed is causing us confusion and frustration.
Physical and occupational therapy will begin on Monday.
The Lion’s Club of Fremont posted that they will be having a pancake breakfast on May 4th as a fundraiser for the family and new bracelets arrived to support Tryce on his journey and remind people to Win the Day!
We continue to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support from family, friends and strangers, who are becoming friends. Thank you to all of you that are joining us on this journey, your support means so much!
Continue to pray for peaceful sleep, for control of emotions and reduction of spinal fluid.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Naps for Mom and Dad
*Delicious food from friends
*Recognizing the beauty that is small town living and support! 🩶
Take a seat, this is a long one….
Well, today turned into a much longer day than we expected, but we had many good results.
After about an hour of sleep for the Hugen’s, we headed to Iowa City for Tryce’s first appointment with oncology at 8:30. They were very positive about the pathology. He said it was a low grade cancerous glioma. Because they got all of the visible tumor it is unknown if it will grow back. However we know that there are still cells remaining, but he thinks it is slow growing. We wouldn’t be doing any treatment right now regardless, because of the need to heal from the surgery. Tryce will have fully sedated MRIs every three months to check for growth.
Our next appointment was about 30 minutes after, with neurosurgery. We thought we’d be headed home early. We met with the nurse practitioner because Dr. Reynolds was in surgery. The NP was concerned about the swelling at the back of his head and the irritation around his sutures. She talked to the doctor and it was decided he should have a quick MRI and if Dr. Reynolds wanted to see us we would come back at 2:00.
We went back at 2:00. He has more cerebral spinal fluid collecting behind his incision. Right now it feels squishy, “like a water balloon” which is good. The worry is if it gets so full and tight that it pushes on the incision. She started him on a medication to reduce the fluid. He could be on it for months or years if it works. He will go back in three weeks for another MRI to check the fluid.
None of these things caused him any pain or trauma, other than the fear of being at the hospital and being touched, until…they had to remove the “dissolvable” sutures. He was so upset about them touching his head, that he threw his head back and got cut by the scissors. Fortunately it was just below the incision.
After that he had to go have blood drawn because of the potential side effects of this new medication. Drawing blood on an already traumatized 2 year old is as fun as it sounds. Poor baby just wanted to go to “Tryce’s house”. To say that every aspect of the hospital is traumatic for him is an understatement. This is something he will have to monitor his whole life, so hopefully it will get easier!
We had to wait a couple more hours for his prescription to be made. It is a special compound that they have to make. We went to the mall, made a Build a Bear Chase, and grabbed a bite to eat.
We then went back to the hospital to pick up his meds and are now headed home.
His parents are absolute Rockstars! They were both calm and comforting even when it was tough. Their strength and love for Tryce and each other impresses me daily. God definitely placed Tryce with the right parents!
Continue to pray for their strength, sleep for all of them and a reduction of fluid in his head.
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Slow growing tumor!
*Build a Bear!🐻
* Neurosurgeon that we LOVE!
Today was a day of ups and downs for Tryce. The nightmares started about 1:30 am and continued until close to 6:00. He then settled down and slept until about 10.
He was happy to have more family visit today and of course loved getting more gifts.
Physically there are improvements everyday. His crawling is much better and we’re seeing more use of his left hand (unless you ask him to use it). He is standing on his own better as well.
He woke up this morning with a little more swelling on the back of his head, but it was down noticeably by evening.
He is having a very hard time regulating his emotions. He gets very mad and frustrated, throwing things and hitting, and then is super happy and playing. We were aware this could be a part of the experience, but hadn’t seen it to this extent.
Tomorrow, Tuesday is the big day of news. We head back to Iowa City to meet with the oncologist and the neurosurgeon. They will go over the pathology reports and talk about a treatment plan.
Please pray for positive results, strength for Madelyn and Zach and peaceful sleep for all of them. God is good and will get everyone through this!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Family nap in the afternoon (much needed)
*Gains in Tryce’s mobility
After another rough night of little sleep, Tryce had a really good day!
Lots of family came to visit, we went for a walk, played with our bubble blower, went on the hammock swing and had cheeseburgers for dinner. He bossed his cousin around and played with his Lightening McQueen racetrack.
After dinner, we lit candles and sang happy birthday to Uncle Hunter. Tryce blew out the candles. We did this two times because Tryce can’t get enough singing Happy Birthday and blowing out candles!
We ended our night with some play doh and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.
Mama and daddy are exhausted, but Tryce had an awesome day!
Continue to pray for peaceful sleep!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Beautiful day to be outside
*Lots of family to love on T
*We’re constantly reminded how lucky we are to have such a huge village of support, both family and friends. We’ve seen firsthand at the hospital, that some kids do not.
Thank you for your continued prayers!
Go out and Win the Day! ⚡️
After another very rough night of nightmares, Tryce had a pretty good day.
He and mom and dad went to Da-Pa and Mimi’s for the day. It was good for everyone to get out of the house.
We bundled Tryce up and took him for a walk in the jogger stroller. He loved getting outside.
He wouldn’t take a nap, seems to be afraid to go to sleep. So we just layed down for a while and watched Paw Patrol.
He ate well and played hard. He seemed a little more content with his mobility limitations.
We were able to get his hair cut after letting him use the clippers to pretend to cut Spiderman's hair. It's not perfect at all, but good enough until he's less afraid and healed a little more.
Continue to pray for peaceful sleep for our sweet boy!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*A huge turnout at the Big Blue Nutrition fundraiser for Tryce in Albia and Knoxville! Thank you so much!
*The ability to get outside for a walk.
*A haircut and a bath!
Last night was a rough one for Tryce. He is having terrible nightmares that are keeping them all up at night. I can only imagine the fear he has from the past week. When he was asked if he wanted a haircut, he said no “I scared”. He may live with a really bad look for a bit!
This morning the bottom of his incision started to pull open. They took pictures of it and sent them to his doctors. They weren’t too concerned. They said to keep an eye on it and make sure it wasn’t leaking. So far, so good!
He is holding his head up really well now. He loves to walk, but doesn’t like help. His balance is still not good and he can’t be left alone AT ALL. He’s prone to falling even when sitting, so he is a full time job for his parents.
He has good control of his right hand, but doesn’t want to use his left much at all. We know that he has made so much growth in the last week and will continue to improve. He is happy most of the time, and loves to play with his toys and all of the grown ups at his house.
Keep those prayers coming and specifically pray for his nightmares to be gone!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day….
*Holding his head up so well
*Happy and playing with toys
*Continued great appetite
Today was a fairly uneventful day. Tryce woke up grouchy after having a couple of bad dreams during the night. His incision is tender and starting to itch, so it’s a bit of a battle for him to leave it alone.
His headaches didn’t seem as bad today, so no OxyContin, just round the clock Tylenol and ibuprofen. He hates all things medicine right now.
He ate like a champ all day. Pizza, cheeseburger, French fries, lasagna, yogurt and popcicles!
Tryce is very frustrated about not being able to do things on his own. His walking is really improving, so he doesn’t want any help, but his balance is still really off, so he has to have help all of the time. We’re seeing him use his left hand more, but still not as often and his coordination with it is not super sharp.
Mom and dad are glad to be home, but also nervous. Nana and Mimi have been tag teaming and he gets upset when either one leaves.
The generosity of everyone is overwhelming and the family is so grateful! We firmly believe in the power of prayer, so please keep them coming!
🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻🩶🙏🏻
Wins for the Day…
*Less pain
*Great appetite
*More use of his left arm!
