Another crazy day at the D2 regional tournament.
Curtis Houghton (190) was 1 point away from making the state tournament.(not bad for a first year wrestler)
Dasan Smith(285) finished the day 3-1 and placed 3rd punching his ticket to Ford Field. This will be his 2nd trip to the State Tournament
Today we head down to Cadillac for the boys and girls regional tournaments Saturday and Sunday. Top 4 in each weight class will qualify for the State Championships at Ford Field in a couple weeks
Today the team competed at the Division 2 individual district tournament. We ended placing two wrestlers in the top 4 to advance to next week’s regional meet. We also brought the team for our annual water park trip afterwards.

This weekend the team traveled to Ga***rd for a JV meet on Friday night and then the 30 plus team Northern Michigan Championships on Saturday. We had some pretty good success on both days.

Saturday we hosted another UP Championship and our team had 3 medalists. We were able to get in some good mat time and keep seeing improvement with every match. Thank you to everyone that helped out to make it a successful event.

This weekend our team had another great bonding experience in New Lothrop. Between the JV meet and Varsity meet we had 16 wrestlers compete with a ton of improvement. Our medalists:

What a day it was! I just want to thank everyone involved to help make the Marquette Challenge a HUGE success again. Thank you to the teams, parents and wrestlers that travel to the UP year in and year out. We have an amazing group of officials that make the trip as well. Also our athletic trainers making sure the athletes are safe. Most importantly I want to thank my family, my team, my parents and my coaches that made this event possible. Forgot to post Dasan in the Grand March. This video does not give this experience justice for him. 1120 student athletes made the state tournament from 5 divisions in 1 venue. AMAZING
