May the Fourth be with you! Just some flashback pictures from days when this awesome day fell on a weekday!
I have reached this point in the school year. 🤷🏻♀️🎶
Yes. I had my nails painted to match the color coding on my classroom ukuleles. I use Pitch Publications Rainbow Ukulele so I add stickers that match the chords that she lays out in her book.
Many of my students have noticed the connection. My favorite response: ”Man, Mrs. King! Your commitments got some serious rizz!” 😆🤣😂

Do you have to plan quiet lessons during testing season? I do for one week and don't for the other. LOL. Let me know your favorite quiet lessons in the comments. You can read about mine here:

What do you love today? Let me know in the comments!
This is such a beautiful display. The black and white pictures against the bright backgrounds create a striking bulletin board that stops traffic in the hall.

Happy first day of SPRING! Let's go outside!
Take Music Class Outside Outside activities for music class can be just as engaging as activities that you plan for inside the music room. Sing, dance, play and assess in the sunshine. Nine practical ideas for beautiful days in music class.
My kiddos are starting ukulele. They love watching Brother Iz's videos and while searching for some info about him I ran across this article.
Who else should I highlight in my ukulele lessons?

Flashback to a St. Patrick's Day that wasn't on a Sunday. LOL. Although I mostly became a teacher for dress up days, this one is usually annoying with the pinching and the rules against pinching and then the sneaky pinching...you know!
Happy St. Patrick's Day friends! 🌈
It's true! Tag an amazing music teacher that needs to hear this!
Bwahahaha! I can't wait to hear your answers!
Happy !
This month these are the books I've been reading to classes.
➡"Change Sings" by Amanda Gorman I love it and as winter melts into spring, it is a great time to talk about change in many ways.
➡"Little Bunny Foo Foo" by Cori Doerrfeld -Spring time means cute little bunnies, right? That's what my kiddos think too. Then I sing/read this book to them and knock their socks off. It doesn't end the way you think it does!
➡"More Than a Music Teacher" by F. Willis Music This book is great any time of year, but this year I'm using it as a focus during Music in Our Schools Month. I then do a Q & A with kiddos about my career, high school and college, etc... I'm enjoying it.
What are you reading this month to your students? What should I add? Let me know.
Call me crazy but I LOVE the sound of pop tubes. Actually I love the sound of the WHOLE class full of pop tubes popping! LOL. Check out this blog post to see how I use them: https://mrskingrocks.blogspot.com/2022/02/5-ways-to-use-pop-tubes-in-music-class.html
Student: What are Singing Rocks? Do they actually sing?
Me: No! YOU do!

It's time for a little St. Patrick's Day fun this week! I have a big bundle of St. Patrick's Day worksheets in my TpT store and I love using them this month after we have voted on our favorite songs for March Music Madness. I especially like the ones that students answer by coloring. I feel like my 3rd, 4th and 5th graders don't get to color enough so I'll use it for assessment if I can.

I got Bach! Although I may have cursed him a time or two practicing Inventions, I do love them now. ❤️
Can we guess your favourite composer of all time (in nine questions)? We think we can do it in just nine questions...
Not EVERY time, but always with that one class. You know.
These little erasers are just too cute! I love collecting them and using them in music workstations. You can read more about I how I do that here: https://mrskingrocks.blogspot.com/2017/09/erasersasmusicmanipulatives.html
My 3rd graders are finishing up their instruments of the orchestra unit with workstations in that theme! Here's one of them that I use every year. Just add clothespins.
Pro Tip: Get the plain wooden ones so no one argues over the colors of the pretty ones.

Music in Our Schools Month dress up days? You bet! Check out these ideas!
https://mrskingrocks.blogspot.com/2016/02/spirit-days-for-music-in-our-schools.html
I don't know about you but January was 8 weeks long and February was about 20 annoying minutes long. 🤷♀️ I'm ready for March. This is one of my favorite bulletin boards not because it is colorful and fun (because it is) but because it celebrates both St. Patrick's Day and music month! WooOooOt!

And and and.....the acronyms that now mean something else...usually something naughty...I just can't keep up! LOL.
March Music Madness is one of my students' most requested activities of the year! Read about how I do this in my classroom.
