Hi everyone
Over the last year the demand for our services has increased, while at the same time food which is either free or heavily discounted has decreased. We sometimes struggle to provide enough food for people who come to us on Fridays.
So if you have visitors staying, we cannot provide food for them as well - we simply do not have the resources to do so.
If you are in need of an emergency food parcel for them, please contact the Food Bank through the Op Shop - they may be able to help.
Thank you for your understanding on this matter

12/10/2023

Hi everyone, the Marton Food Pantry will be open from 3.30pm tomorrow afternoon
Please arrive a few minutes earlier, and remember to bring your own bags
We look forward to seeing you ๐Ÿ˜Š

19/09/2023

Hi everyone

We will reopen on Friday, 13 October. If you are in urgent need of food while we are closed, the local Op Shop runs an emergency food service - their number is 06 327 6457 ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hi everyone.
Hereโ€™s an update regarding the concern with the olive from Friday,
W have been in contact with 2 different food testing labs and their specialist teams have said the
same thing. It is normal for olive oil to solidify in colder temperatures and if oil goes rancid itโ€™s very
smelly and you would notice it when you were pouring it from the bottle. It also affects the taste of food its being used on. It wonโ€™t make anyone sick. If anyone in the future suspects they have food
poisoning seek medical advice.
The person who raised this concern has since informed us that she knows it wasnโ€™t the olive oil that was contaminated as she ate other food cooked in it to see if she had a reaction and she didnโ€™t.

We can say with confidence after talking to the testing lab and hearing back from the person concerned that the Olive is safe to
consume.
Have a nice day everyone!

Hi everyone.
We recieved a concern last night about the olive oil from Friday. It had started to solidify due to the cold so looked a little strange also there was a
concern that the oil may have made them sick. If anyone else has been ill could you please let us know.
We take these concerns seriously and will be getting the oil tested. If anyone else has been ill could they please get in touch with us. As a safeguard we would suggest putting the oil aside and not using it till we have got the all clear.
Thankyou.

Hi there, would the person who contacted St Stephenโ€™s office and expressed an interest in volunteering with us please get in touch again as your details somehow got misplaced. We would love to hear from you ๐Ÿ˜Š

I just want to inform the new people coming to Food Pantry that we generally close for the school holidays; we will be here Friday 30 June and then reopen 21 July.
This is mainly to give our volunteers a break, especially as we have been getting increasingly busier over the past year. We were averaging 38 households coming through to get food a year ago, compared to 61 last week and 67 yesterday.
We would find it difficult to operate if it were not for the support of local companies Speirs, New World, Skou Transport and Just Zilch of Palmerston North. We also have some amazing local individuals who regularly help out and donate whenever they can.
Thank you to all of you in helping to make our community a better, stronger and more caring place to live.

11/06/2023

Hi everyone,
Just want to point out that the Marton Food Pantry is completely separate from the Bulls food pantry and does not, as a registered charity, support or endorse any political candidate or party.
Anyway, hope you all have a great week, see you Friday

Hi everyone

Marton Food Pantry is now closed for the duration of the school holidays, and will reopen at 3.30pm, Friday 28 April.

If you need an emergency food parcel before then, please phone the Marton Op shop, 06 327 6457 - they may be able to help.

We would like to acknowledge the continuing support we get from Just Zilch; a great organisation with a team that is always easy and fun to deal with - thank you.

Also a big thank you to Raelene and Graeme from Skou Transport, whose generosity towards Food Pantry has enabled us to further strengthen and streamline our operation.

We are most appreciative of all the community support we receive, and we would like to wish everyone a very happy Easter break.

Hi everyone.
Another successful day last Friday at the Marton food Pantry. 60 families received food parcels, which equated to 171 people receiving food. Great job.
From Friday 24th February, people will have to come and pick up their own food. No collecting food for other people. You have to be present to collect food.

Last year our beautiful community gave generously. As Christmas approaches, it can be a really stressful time making ends meet. Every little bit counts and makes a difference. All donations are greatly appreciated. Dry goods, pantry staple items, christmas treats and goodies. Listen for the sirens! And meet us on your street :D

20/10/2022

We look forward to seeing you all this afternoon :D We open from 3.30pm ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ˜Ž

A reminder to all our valuable food pantry users. Please remember your masks at sign in. Our faithful food pantry volunteers give their time each week to serve our community and a lot of them fit in the most 'at risk' catagory. Please show consideration for this when using our service. Lets look out for each other.
This week - Bring your own jars/bottles for Olive Oil ๐Ÿ˜
