Busy day of lessons yesterday, mix of flatwork, poles and jumping sessions!

Quite a windy day and of course some rain too (wouldn't be a SMB lesson day without at least some rain 🙈🤣) but thankfully the majority of the lessons were in the dry!

Well done to all riders and horses, you were all fabulous! Pictured below are two of my lovely regular riders who were working on improving bend and suppleness using lateral and extension exercises 😊🌟🐴

Super jumping lesson today - related distances to work on speed and rhythm and a skinny fence to help improve straightness, starting off at a lower height, building up slowly to higher to ensure it was also a confidence building session. Top job by horse and rider, both were fabulous 👌🌟

(And a first for me.....teaching outside in December ...WITHOUT a jacket.... 😱🤣☀️)

Super afternoon of BHS CPD training today at the Cabin, got to watch some lovely horse and rider combinations being put through various exercises and some great discussions and take away points to end the day 👏🐴🌟💡

Massive well done to one of my regular riders who passed her Pony Club B test yesterday, huge achievement and very well deserved after lots of hard work 👏🌟🥳🐴

The super handy markers I use in lessons have been many called many things by my riders over the years.... cones, spots, pots, dots, space markers and even... 'the cones of doom' 🙈🤣

Whatever the correct name for them is, there is one downside to them....picking them all up at the end of a lesson 🥵.

Thankfully yesterday DJ was more than happy to assist with this job... 😂😂😂

Here's the super cute Rosie getting involved in her owners suprise birthday lesson last night, her owner was riding her other horse in the lesson but Rosie was keen to join in with some party hat time too until she got bored that is 🤣🎉

Tonight was all about the poles 🐴👏🌟

🌟Absolutely fantastic polework clinic today!

The format was one group of riders - each had a private lesson in the morning, followed by a tasty lunch then a group lesson in the afternoon and it worked just perfectly! 🐴

Massive well done to all riders and horses, you did an awesome job and had some really big improvements in a short space of time! 👏

Highly recommend Ladyluck as a venue, the school and facilities are fabulous! 👌

These clinics are great as additional training for any level and can cover an array of topics....poles, grids, lateral, position, courses, xc techniques...the list goes on and on! They can be held at most locations too! 🙂

Bit of a windy day today which unfortunately meant some lessons had to be cancelled due to their location!

Luckily some places weren't as bad so we were able to go ahead with those...

🌟 To start the day a super session using poles and jumps to develop canter transitions and improve balance!

💡A real light bulb position moment for the next rider, amazing how a tiny tweak to hand position can make a huge difference!

🦄 And to finish the day a polework exercise to help improve canter quality and impulsion!

I love polework for so many reasons and try to incorpate it into all my of my regular lessons for all levels of riders and horses.

I think this photo really helps to highlight how beneficial it can be, check out that leg lift....🤩

I am a big fan of non ridden exercise alongside ridden work 🐴

Lunging, long reining, free schooling and in hand work can be really beneficial for horses of any age and ability!

It can help with areas such as muscle building, balance, fitness, behaviour, paces and many more! It is also really helpful for riders to observe their horse from the ground on a regular basis as development and/or issues can sometimes be clearer when you are not onboard!

The jumping picture is of a lovely green mare enjoying her first free schooling session this week. We are using poles and jumps to try and help develop her canter work and she seemed to really enjoy her non ridden lesson! 🌟
