Thank you to everyone who gave my tunes a chance, it truly means a lot.
I realize I’m inconsistent and often missing; I try to avoid feeling overwhelmed and burnt out. I’ve been at a place in the past where I thought I’d never make another piece of music and I never want to have those feelings again.
I just want to have fun making cool sounds and expressing my thoughts and emotions through my lyrics.
I hate trying to advertise myself, I hate the whole “Look at me! Listen to me!” dance that comes along with all of it. I’ve never felt important enough to put myself out there and have others actually care what I have to say, hence all my songs and stage name are in lowercase. Despite ‘great’ being in my name, I don’t ever feel great. I more often feel worthless than worthy, shameful than shameless, a failure rather than successful. I aspire to live up to being deserving of the name - thegreat.

The fact that I’m not alone feels incredible, even if the numbers are “small.” The fact that anyone at all is listening brings me happiness and joy. So thank you again, and perhaps next year will be a better one. ✌🏽

These last few years have been some of the hardest for me. Depression, anxiety, insecurity, and self hatred have all seem to take a firm grasp. They infect your mind with thoughts of hopelessness and feelings of being stuck in this forever.
This Friday I’m releasing a song that I wrote in one of the darkest times. Although I felt hopeless, I never shed that last bit of hope that I’ll one day overcome these feelings.

Don’t let the ones that don’t believe in you influence your actions and decisions. Don’t wait for someone to give you a chance, it won’t happen. If you want something, take it. If you believe in something, follow it. F**k what anyone thinks. You do you and make yourself proud. At the end of the day, it’s you that has to live with yourself and your decisions. Do what you were born to do and f**k everything else.

Progress isn’t always linear. Sometimes you take a step in the wrong direction. As long as you have the strength to pull yourself back up and turn back in the right direction, that’s what’s matters. Make yourself proud, peeps.

It’s crazy how much being insecure and caring what people think shapes decisions for my life. I’m trying to live a healthier life for me. I’m trying to appreciate what’s already in front of me. Stay strong and make yourself proud. All day, everyday.
