Once asked by Parade Magazine who the funniest man in the world is, Bob Hope responded, “Fellow comedians – myself included - are all openly and vociferously envious of Groucho Marx. I’ll take Groucho because of his unfailing wit.” Groucho: “Bob has the best delivery. He’s the All-American boy.”  A great deal of mutual respect there from the late 1930s through Groucho’s death in 1977. Radio shows together and television shows together. Including the Walgreen radio show that led to Groucho’s long stint on You Bet Your Life. Hope was a visitor at Groucho’s house during his final years. Here he is with a visibly delighted Groucho at Mr. Marx’s 85th birthday celebration.
