Welcome to Creekside Tranquil Treasures. I am a mother of 3 and a registered nurse by trade. In 2022 I suffered a devasting injury ending my running career. I was advised to try walking on beach sand to regain strength in my leg and that is where I found my first piece of beach glass..I became instantly hooked and now spend hours on the beaches of Lake Michigan mostly in Manitowoc County collecting beach glass and creating art work, pictures and ornaments. My daughter also assists in making pieces. It started out as a hobby and I decided to share my love of beach glass through my creations.
Beach glass fun facts:
-naturally tumbled pieces of glass from old bottles (wine, medicine and perfume), shipwreckes, table ware etc.
-it takes 60-100 years to tumble and become frosted making it vintage.
-common colors are brown, white and green.
-uncommmon colors are dark green, amber, and lime green
-rare colors are purple, citron, blue, cobalt blue
-ultra rare pink, orange, red, depression glass, yellow 1 in every 1000-10000 pieces is a rare color.
-black glass or pirates glass is from 1600-1800. I have only found 2 pieces.
-artificially tumbled glass will not have unique frosting and will have sharper jagged edges.
-all glass used is hand picked. It takes around 2-3 hours to find a 1/2 of a sandwich bag of quality beach glass.
