Cherokee Braves Golf

Congratulations to these Cherokee Braves golfers who competed today in the final NW IA Junior Tour golf tournament of the summer at Landsmeer Golf Course in Orange City.

Sophomores Brock Kannegieter and Caden Frederiksen participated in the Boys Championship division and finished in the middle of the pack.

Senior Julia De Vos participated in the Girls Championship division and won the tournament and season points standings for the NW IA Junior Tour this summer.

The 3rd Annual Braves Golf Alumni Tournament was a huge success today! Nearly 60 golfers competed to help raise funds for the Cherokee Braves boys/girls golf teams.

More info on the day will be coming soon.

But one more thing! 2 tickets to a Collective Soul concert on Saturday July 15th in Fort Dodge were won and re-donated back. If anyone is interested in these tickets, please let Coach DeVos know asap and he'll get them to you!!

2023 Junior Golf Camp

Another successful year for 48 junior golfers who participated! Thank you to Coach James DeVos, Coach Heidi Gerstandt, Craig Schmidt, Shane Bellefy, and high school golfers who helped put this on as well as the volunteers and parents who help during the tournament!

2023 Junior Golf Camp Update

If you signed your child up for junior golf camp, you should’ve received a text with their instruction time. If you did not receive a text, please contact James De Vos.

The golf tournament on Friday will start at 9 am with a sponsored lunch following provided by Cherokee State Bank. The participants may use the pool until 1 pm on Friday so please bring towel and swimsuit if you wish.

It has been a pleasure to coach these past 4 years but I’m taking a step back to focus on being a mom and pursue other career goals! Julia DeVos finished T15 out of 32 girls at the regional final today! So great to get this experience as a Junior! of you!

Some of the team came for breakfast to send Julia off to the Regional Final today in Orange City. Coach Ruby came too! 😉 We decided Carey’s is good luck.

Congratulations to Junior Drew Spooner for his 11th place finish today at the Boys 2A district golf meet at Emerald Hills golf course. Drew had an absolutely fabulous season as he qualified for his 3rd consecutive district tournament. He shot an 80 today at a tough, wet Emerald Hills.

Well done Drew!

As the season comes to a close for the team, we want to thank our seniors for all of their hard work and leadership! We celebrate you! Congratulations 2023 graduates! 👩‍🎓
