2 - Reposting different designers & jewelry stores

Idk when it became not cool to repost people’s photos on Instagram, but this month I’m bringing it back! So many of you mentioned how you loved learning of new designers & stores through and I used to repost a lot (obviously with crediting & tagging).

So here’s a store I’d love to visit if I was still traveling again and doing store features. in Minnesota with this beautiful arrest of jewels. Their Instagram feed is gorgeous. Give their social media coordinator a raise. 👏🏼

So many of you mentioned was an all-time favorite part of Gem Gossip - so here’s the first post of our celebration.

▪️How started:

It was January 2010 - Instagram did not exist. I had a vision of collecting photos of people’s hands loaded up with rings and wanted that idea to be a new column on my blog. I had been on a rabbit hole hunt on Google trying to find this type of photo. I found 4 photos in total of what I was envisioning - I posted those 4 along with one I created using my rings and asked a simple phrase SHOW ME YOUR RINGS

After publishing that blog post, I was blown away to receive an inbox full of photos of people and their rings. Jewelry lovers from all over the world were sending me pictures. I was constantly publishing batches of my favorites and realized pretty quickly I was on to something…

Then when social media “happened” it was much easier to get the idea out there and hashtagging helped spur the ring obsession.

The rest is history. 😇

Happy July 1st and happy anniversary to a blog I started 15 years ago 😭🥰

On July 1, 2008 I moved to Tennessee not knowing anyone, not having a job lined up and I had just sold my car bc I didn’t want to drive 11 hours by myself while following the moving truck my family was in 😆 my boredom, mixed with this passion for jewelry which I had been holding onto my whole life + not knowing what to do with it, created the perfect storm: I started writing my own blog about fine jewelry.

I’m excited to celebrate this milestone all of July - posting my favorite moments & memories from the last 15 years, doing some fun giveaways, and sharing messages/video submissions from YOU! I wanna hear your favorite Gem Gossip moments, posts, ANYTHING … I’ll be sharing all month long. 😁
