MARCH 2023 POET OF THE MONTH
Our March 2023 Poet of the Month award goes to Nancy Louise Cook and her poem "Lask Dusk of Ramadan"
In this fantastic poem, Nancy writes on traveling through the Middle East and experiencing the unity and historical complexity of Ramadan in Turkey.
She invites you to take the trip with her, riding on the back of the sun as it rises, to witness, for yourself, the captivating and memorable month of this Islamic Pillar -- The fasting of Ramadan.
You can read her poem here: http://www.rewardpublishing.info/march-2023-poet-.html
WRITING CHALLENGE
Did you know that painting and writing are sister arts? This painting is called "Girl with Umbrella" by Daiga Dimza. Here is your challenge: write a story about her. In poetic format, tell what this girl is thinking. What happened in her life? What is she going through? Tell about her fears or life. Why is she standing by the sea? Why does she have an umbrella? Try to do it in under 20 lines.
Go!
Hmm... think about this quote. What does this mean to you? Do you think this? Maybe not "bad" but possibly the most raw poetry stems from feeling.
Everything you need to know for your lifetime.
Not all waves will knock you down.
What are you thinking about today? Take a few extra minutes and write about it -- no editing. Just pure emotion on a page. GO!
It only takes ONE GREAT IDEA to soar forward. Never give up, even if there are duds of pages along the way. Your light will show up! KEEP WRITING, FRIENDS!
You know you're a writer when WORDS transport your VISION. Do you see the places you write about? Do you feel like you are there? TELL US ABOUT IT! In a poem about your traveling to Reward Publishing. This year we are publishing poetry about TRAVEL. Visit www.rewardpublishing.co.uk for more information on how to submit your poem!
This is so true! Who was that person for you? Maybe write about them today :) without saying their name in it piece, tell us all who they were.... xo Happy Writing, Friends!

ONLY TAKES ONE - It just takes one good idea to soar your writing forward. Don't give up. You might go through a hundred duds of pages to get to the light -- but it will come. PUSH ON, WRITERS!
This? This is okay. Restarting is okay. Trying again is okay. You aren't on a bad track because you change tracks. Sometimes writing is just figuring out which direction you need first.
Don't be afraid. Write! Even a few words scribbled of a first draft is better than a blank page. Inspire yourself!

Write a poem about the girl in this painting. Who is she? What is she thinking? What happened to her the day before?
This type of writing is called Ekphrastic Poetics. It's a brilliant way to stretch your imagination. Look closely at every detail of the photo and write about her.
Do it afraid. It's okay.
