Well, there is always a way and an opportunity for one to contribute to human development. What matters is your angle of sight. 66 is the same as 99 from opposite angles.

Come to think of it, I keep asking myself what can possibly go wrong/right in the event of a major natural disaster (Force Majeure Situation) in the great city of Buea (The city of Legendary Hospitality). The population is growing at cheetah speed, high rise buildings taking turns to compete for space with one another, businesses contest for customers with loud music and a display of multi-colour show rooms. Environmental polution is at the top of the chat (noise, heat, improper disposal of garbage, traffic, water scarcity, etc). In the midst of all these, the city still enjoys some temperature moderation from the mountain and at its best, people can still find solace.

However, the major worry is, looking at the state of things in this city, it appears we are missing something very frightening. Buea is an earthquake zone. I feel terrified when ever these thoughts run through my brain. What will happen in the vent of a major earthquake disaster? Does the authorities of this city have an evacuation plan in place taking into consideration the nightmare with circulation? If yes then its a good idea but is the pupolation aware of how they have to respond to this situation? who are the first responders, second responders? what are their roles? who coordinates these activities when it comes to mass casualty response and communication? Is the population aware of their crisis intervention teams/organization?

Another issue is assistance to victims. How is this susposed to be handled? What are the types of services available to victims, the importance of these services and how can they access these services. Example - the importance of post-incident trauma assistance for victims of mass casualty incidents. Do they provide services such as Crisis Management Briefing (CMB) and Crisis Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) to mitigate the levels of crisis and traumatic stress and assist in the healing process?

The population needs to be informed to act accordingly and not expose themselves to further risks/harm. If people don't have the right and updated information, they are bound to respond based on wrong and obsolete information.

The volcano has been dormant for a very long time now, at least the last eruption was on february 3, 2012 as per my knowledge. No one prays for it to unleash its fury onto the unsuspected population, however we must draw the attention of the authorities because the people are looking up to them to provide updated information for a better response.

BOREHOLE PROJECT AT LOWER WONYA-EMONGO COMMUNITY VILLAGE
Lower Wonya-Emongo village has major challenges of shortage of reliable, sufficient and clean sources of water for human consumption and other uses. Currently there exist very big pressure on the sparingly available water sources at the village due to the ever increasing number of people migrating into the village to seek affordable shelter and security.
The project is designed to benefit other neighboring villages especially those living in border areas between Lower Wonya-Emongo, Upper Wonya-Emongo, Komboni and BoKwai Village, which all face similar water crisis.

PROJECT OBJECTIVES:
• To save time and energy wasted by children, girls and young women walking for miles to go fetch water.
• To curb down the multiple risks children, young women and girls are exposed to in their quest for clean/portable water.
• To reduce the rate of infection of water-borne disease including cholera, diarrhea, blood-diarrhea and typhoid by 80%.
• To ensure people get clean, reliable, sufficient and a sustainable source of water throughout the year by 100%.
