It’s really sad that with the daily extinction of some species on our planet and the encroachment we already have on wildlife, never mind the prediction that Florida will be underwater in the future, the building just never stops!! We need to fund Everglades restoration and wildlife corridors to protect our native wildlife! Not pass laws that wouldn’t be necessary if there was more education (like making it legal to shoot bears if you feel threatened!! 😠). Please speak up and fund programs that protect our native wildlife as best as you can!! 🙏🏻🫶🏼🐹🦊🐻🐸🦉🦅🦇🐺🦋🐝🕷️🦞🦀🦐🦑🐙🪼🐡🦎🐢🐍🐋🐳🐬🐟🐠🦈🦭🐊🐂🦩🦨🦝🦡🦦🐿️🌴

Sad……what a valiant effort though to save these magnificent animals 🙏🏻💔🐬🦈🐋
Yesterday afternoon a large pod of around 45 false killer whales and bottlenose dolphins, stranded at Taylor’s Beach on Mahia Peninsula.
They were refloated at high tide around 3:30pm, assisted by the local community. However, sadly the entire pod re-stranded at a remote and inaccessible reef point further south from Taylor’s Beach on Mahia Peninsula.
We assessed the whales and dolphins had an extremely low chance of being refloated and surviving. Our local rangers made the difficult decision to euthanise the animals to prevent them having suffered overnight.
The stranding incident was first reported to us at about 2pm Sunday afternoon. Our team travelled from Gisborne to Taylor’s Bay, arriving by 5pm, by which time the whales had been initially refloated.
We would like to thank the volunteers, iwi, local community, and Project Jonah volunteers who came to the beach to assist with initial refloating of the whales.
Whale and dolphin strandings are common in New Zealand. Why they strand is not fully known but factors can include sickness, navigational error, geographical features, a rapidly falling tide, being chased by a predator or extreme weather.

In speaking to an FWC officer this morning, it is up to the public to fight this!
This has already been approved by the senate last week and is being pushed through today!!! Signatures needed! Public outcry is a must!!
FWC was not involved in the making of this rule, legislature should not be able to legally make this law (just as they did with banning reptile breeding). This is a law FWC should be the ones making. People are going to shoot bears in residential neighborhoods (firing a gun within city limits is now legal since 2018 if you have an acre and your bullet stays within your property limits) and possibly hit a neighbor or passerby!! Please sign this petition!! Bear education is what we need in this state!! Not the legalization to shoot them!!

Happy New Year’s everyone!!!
Remember between fireworks, noisemakers and general revelry, pets can experience high anxiety on New Year's Eve. Scared pets can bite or run and potentially get hurt, cause accidents or become lost. The best way to keep pets safe is to keep them indoors and comfortable; consider playing relaxing music to drown out any startling outside noises. Make sure fences and gates are secure and that your pet has a current ID tag and that all microchip information is up to date. If your pet has shown signs of extreme anxiety in the past, you might also consult your veterinarian and ask for anti-anxiety medications or natural
Calming agents like L-theanine products (Composure, Anxitane or Solliquin), CBD products (Oils, soft treats or Hard treats like Treatibles, Wilderness or Prana Pets among many) or homeopathic like Bach Flower Remedies or DōTerra oils or other calming preparations. Have a safe and happy new year!! Wishing everyone a 2024 filled with good health, happiness, love, prosperity and peace on earth!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy Halloween🎃🏴☠️🧜🏻♀️🤡💀👻🥳🫶🏼💀🤩😎🤙🏼 Remember to keep your Halloween Candy safe from your let’s who may choke on wrappers or be poisoned by the theobromine or caffeine in chocolates or have diarrhea and vomiting so severely they can die
One of Mark’s faves too!! 😂😎🤩🥳🤟🏼
Ok well it’s Sunday………….& Mondaybis a holiday, but this made me smile 😍🥰
Please go to the open comments meetings if you can!! These proposed changes will put a lot of rehabbers not at big centers out of business. The proposed changes are NOT beneficial to Florida rehabilitators or wildlife and do nothing to embetter conditions for rehab or their lives. The proposed change to have every single patient see a veterinarian within 72h is an unreasonable requirement that will put a strain on both the Rehabilitator and the veterinary community when both are already overtaxed both with finances and time! Wording needs to be changed to clarify other proposed changes like the IWRC course requirement for new applicants not renewing applicants. This is the time to make your concerns heard!! The proposed changes will be handed in October 28th so if you cannot make a meeting please make your concerns and comments on line by going to:

Sadly true in some communities and definitely not in others! No matter how you slice it, dogs are the best companions! 🥰🐾🫶🏼For all the reasons listed below plus a million others including but not limited to: never leaving their pack, staying by your side when you are sick or sad or scared, hurting, lost🥺🥰………..jogging, walking, eating, sleeping 😂… they will ALWAYS try to be right by their alpha’s side! 🐾🫶🏼
They are the most loyal and loving animals no matter who or what species constitutes their pack. If they perceive a threat to any member of their pack, they become fierce protectors of those they love, no matter their size! Big or small!! Now for some the threat could be something as small as trying to steal a treat from a pack member😄but for most it could be an aggressive or imposing angry stranger or the delivery guy who is just a stranger knocking on your door to them;
Possibly trying to invade their den!🙀
I agree about the bad-assery of the working dog and that Ht sucks that some communities do discriminate. I’m lucky to live in a pet friendly area, the guy who wrote this clearly makes his point but should move if he doesn’t live in a pet friendly place! We have pet friendly restaurants, dog beaches, parks and even water parks! Still I know the difficulty of renting as a dog owner who has always had big dogs! Animal discrimination sucks, especially for the well behaved animals AND their people. It’s usually the irresponsible people who get the animals banned in their communities! Sad but true!
Love recycle Art (was my favorite medium), these are so cool! 🐑☎️ just realizing so many kids have never seen one of these in real life! How crazy is that?? Kitchen and hall phone cords were strangely long and stretched out, usually from multiple people winding it around their limbs and waists while talking! 😂🤣

Our star bobcat ambassador Andy has an important safety message!!
On this Talk About It Tuesday post, we focus on traffic safety since August is National Traffic Awareness Month. As our local populations grows, we build more development that encroaches more and more on our local wildlife habitat. And with that comes more accidents between vehicle and animal.
According to State Farm's most recent analysis, there were an estimated 50,800 animal collision claims for Florida (July 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021), compared to the previous year of approximately 38,800.
Our two year old bobcat, Andy, came to us in 2021, after he was orphaned due to a hit and run accident where his pregnant mother died on impact, but he fortunately survived. So what can you do to make a difference?
1. Pay attention to the road!
2. Follow traffic safety rules. Watch your speed!
3. Encourage others to follow traffic safety rules.
Imagine leaving your pet or child in your car? Dangerous temps like we have had for the last 43+ days aren’t needed for heatstroke to happen. The risk is in Florida, and other warm
Climates, almost year round! Always check the back seat 🙏🏻🐾🫶🏼🤟🏼
Using Texas heat as an oven: National Weather Service bakes cookies in car They took to Facebook to measure the weather while taking photo updates of their cookie-baking progress.
After completing 43 days in a row of triple digit temps, some important reminders! Always double check, it’s a good habit to hone!
My house may resemble this lately 😂it’s 4 dogs and 2 cats though and the 2 cats are not too comfortable yet with the two newest but oldest dogs!! 🫶🏼🐾
