NEET 2018: Only one set of question paper to be set from this year, says CBSE
NEET 2018: The court had earlier said that evaluating the competence of students when their questions are different would be very difficult.
NEET 2018: Students were earlier allowed to attempt NEET in 10 languages including Hindi and English.

NEET 2018: From this year onwards, only one set of question paper will be set for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), as per the Central Board of Secondary Education’s (CBSE’s) decision. Students were earlier allowed to attempt NEET in 10 languages including Hindi and English, the CBSE informed a bench comprising Justices Arun Mishra and F A Nazeer. The apex court was not in support of the decision to set different sets of papers in different languages and termed it ‘illogical’. It had said that evaluating the competence of students when their questions are different would be very difficult.
The court did not agree with the board that if the difficulty level of all papers was the same, then it leads to uniformity in the examination and there was nothing wrong in having multiple sets of question papers. The CBSE agreed to the suggestions and said that from present academic session, only one question paper which would be translated into different languages will be set.
The bench was hearing a plea filed by a ‘Sankalp’ charitable trust seeking a direction to the CBSE that there be only one set of question paper for medical aspirants.
Also, the CBSE is likely to release the NEET UG 2018 notification this week at the official website – cbseneet.nic.in. In 2017, the exam was conducted on Sunday, May 7 and therefore, this year too, NEET is likely to be held in the first week of May. The exam is conducted for admission in MBBS seats in medical colleges across India.

NEET 2018: Upper age limit of 25 years for the examination? This is what reports suggest
New Delhi: Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE is expected to release the National Eligibility cm Entrance Test, NEET 2018 notification and online application form next week. Ahead of the release of the NEET 2018 notification, CBSE has confirmed that it would be providing the same set of question papers for all languages. What is still, however, unknown is the decision of CBSE to reimpose the upper age limit of 25 years which was suggested in 2017 but struck down for the year by the Supreme Court of India. While one set of reports suggest that the age limit is likely to make a comeback from 2018, another suggests that the decision to implement that upper age limit is still pending.
NEET 2018 is the only entrance examination for undergraduate admissions to all government, aided and private medical and dental colleges in the country. Ony AIIMS and JIPMER do not fall under the ambit of NEET and conduct separate admissions test. NEET for MBBS and BDS courses is conducted by CBSE. In 2017, CBSE had imposed a bar on the number of attempts allowed to a student to three. The board had also implemented a lower age limit of 17 years as well as an upper age limit of 25 years on the NEET applicants. The decision to impose an upper age limit
The row over the upper age limit resulted in the apex court quashing CBSE's decision and allowing candidates over the 25 years of age to apply for the examination. The court order, however, was limited to NEET 2017. The decision whether or not to implement an upper age limit on NEET 2018 examination is still unknown. Requests made by candidates to the Medical Council of India have also received an unclear response where the council has simply quote the decision to be pending.
All students are accordingly advised to be patient for the release of the notification of NEET 2018. While many sources are suggesting that the age limit of 25 years is applicable for 2018, there is no documented confirmation about the same from CBSE or the MCI. The notification for NEET 2018 is expected next week and the details of the eligibility would then be confirmed. As to the confirmations for CBSE, we do know that there is a lower age limit of 17 years, that there is a limit of 3 attempt with NEET 2017 considered as the first attempt. Also, CBSE in a notification has clarified that the syllabus for NEET 2018 would be the same as that for NEET 2017.
