This adorable love bug is Paisley! She is a 2-3 year old,65lb Pittie mix. Paisley is very friendly and greets everyone she meets with her tail wagging and her butt wiggling! Paisley recently got a break from the shelter and spent a weekend with one of our volunteers. We learned Paisley is a true couch potato and a perfect house guest! She is quiet, housebroken, crate trained and extremely well mannered in the home. She loves car rides and will gladly be your co-pilot. Paisley has low energy and minimal needs: a little bit of exercise and a whole lot of love! Hello all. I know that we are all distraught and heartbroken dogs that have become sick and for those that have lost their lives to what seems to be a commercial diet issue. We must keep sharing and making others aware so that we can save as many precious lives as possible.

I wanted to share my case from Monday of Farrah, a 1 year old mixed breed dog, who presented to the ER Sunday night for symptoms of anaphylactic shock including acute collapse, vomiting, bloody diarrhea and pale gums.

Her guardians had switched her diet to a kibble called SUPREME SOURCE® DOG FOOD Pork, Peas and Wild Boar Recipe Dog Food because they thought it was a better brand than they were feeding. After her first meal she started to show mild symptoms and then she was fed a second meal and the symptoms progressed to life-threatening.

She required 24 hours of intensive care, IV fluid resuscitation, epinephrine, and a plasma transfusion. Her liver values were elevated indicating a toxic insult and her coagulation times were off the charts. Thankfully she responded to treatment and is back home with her guardians. She still has mild symptoms and I have instructed her guardian to continue her detox using denamarin, NHV Immuno for dogs, NHV detoxification kit and NHV Yucca for dogs.

He is a 4 year old gray tuxedo with a beautiful soft coat and a freckle on his nose. He was surrendered to the Rescue Ridge farm in Howell 7 months ago when his foster couldn’t take care of him anymore. He was shy at first but then he discovered how much he loves affection from the humans and now he greet the volunteers when they arrive. He like treats, teaser toys, hanging in the trees with his cat friends and most of all lovin’ from his human friends. He can’t wait to find his furrever home with either cat siblings or to be your one and only. He would probably be cool with a friendly dog but he's never met one.
