Today, we accidentally stumbled into heaven… carne heaven, that is.
We wanted to visit the Culatello producer that Anthony Bourdain went to in Emilia Romagna .When we arrived we happened upon an event featuring award winning producers from the area where restaurants and hotels could visit to taste and purchase their Culatello, Proscuitto and other delicious meaty bits ♥️. Lucky us ☘️
One of my favorite things about Italy is if you go outside your door, you’re bound to find something magical… and often it can be eaten or drank 😉

What’s your “light bulb” wine? 💡🍷
For me [Sara], it was a Williams Selyem, Pinot Nior from Russian River (I don’t remember the vintage).

I met Travis when I was 21 years old in Houston Texas. Travis’s Dad, Gary, was on a mission to sophisticate my palate and get me to order something other than Fat Tire or White Russians (😜). Each time we went to dinner, or at their home, he’d open one great bottle, after another… and with each pop of the cork he’d tell me why I’d love this one… it took quite a few.
The “ah ha” moment was at The Rainbow Lodge in Houston. He ordered the above mentioned, William Selyem. Something clicked, which isn’t surprising, it’s a great wine.
This past weekend was the anniversary of Gary’s passing and we’re celebrating all the little things in this life that he shared with us… our love of wine, among the many gifts. At dinner tonight, we saw this winery on the list (where we live in Sonoma County) and ordered a bottle. It’s mighty delicious if we do say so…

Today we had such a fun day playing tourist with Carlo and his mama Maria from ♥️
We started out the day with a tasting of the 2019 Barbaresco and the 2016 Barbaresco Riserva from the Rizzi vineyards.
Then we ventured out to the coast to the redwoods and the coast in Timbercove 🌲
As one must, we’re ending the day with drinks at 🥃

🗣We are so thrilled to have the new vintage of 2019 Dogliani Superiore DOCG San Matteo by in our shop! It is one of my favorite wines 🍷
First of all, you must know that I am slightly obsessed with Dolcetto and personally think it is the “Goldilocks” of red wines. Not too bold, not too tannic and not too fruity. It pairs well with *almost everything and just brings me joy when it hits my lips.
Dogliani is a wine made with 100% Dolcetto and is grown in an area (Dogliani) that is recognized for highlighting all the best things about this amazing variety.
In comparison to Dolcetto d’Alba, Dogliani is going to be a bit bolder and a bit more structured which allows for longer aging. This particular wine is also a Superiore which means it has a longer aging time before release and also a maximum yield per hectare and a minimum ABV%.

🧠 What’s a Super Tuscan?
A Super Tuscan is a red wine made in Tuscany that often is made with non-indigenous grape varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot or Syrah and sometimes Sangiovese.
Because of the labeling requirements for wine in
Italy, producers like Sassicaia, wanted to distinguish their Bordeaux style wines from ‘vino da tavola’ (table wine) which is what was required on the label. — you’re welcome for this tidbit that may help during Trivia Night 😘

🍷Cheers to fall, y’all!
Personally, I drink red wine all year (even during the hottest parts of summer), but there is something special about enjoying your favorite red wines as the weather starts to get cooler and the leaves start to change color.
The weather here in Sonoma County has been perfect these last few days and we enjoyed this delicious bottle of 2016 Manera Fratelli Barbaresco from the Rizzi vineyards with spaghetti and a simple tomato sauce last night. It is tasting absolutely beautiful right now ❤️

👑 Gavi is a light-bodied white wine from Piedmont Italy with notes of 🍋 lemon custard and jasmine blossoms with refreshing acidity.
👄 It's also a perfect pairing with everything from 🍅 caprese salad to seared scallops!
We're just about out of our 2019 Gavi from Fontanassa (only 2 cases left) so it was time to try the next vintage - and it's amazing! A little more floral than the 2019 and just as delicious.

Vintner’s Stash was inspired after our travels in Italy where we stumbled upon many small wineries who were creating and producing incredible wines that couldn’t be found in the United States. Each visit to Italy, we shipped back several cases of wine to California. After enjoying these wines, we became very frustrated with how incredibly difficult and expensive it was to reorder these wines from small Italian wineries. With our wine industry, e-commerce and distribution experience, we decided to create Vintner’s Stash to be a resource for wine lovers who are looking for amazing, small production wines conveniently delivered to their door.
These wineries are owned and operated by families who, for generations, have crafted these fantastic and limited production wines and we are excited to partner with them to share their labor of love with the world.
