*Meeting Review*

Big thanks to everyone that showed up for today's meeting. It was great getting to know each other. Due to popular demand, the game "Don't judge a book by it's cover" will be a permanent part of our meeting plan.

We discussed the following:
1. *Our upcoming radio appearance with Flava FM*

The club will feature on the show "my book shelf" in a few weeks. More details will follow soon.

2. *Tetwatimpa book shop partnership*
Books will now be available for sale or rent at discounted prices for club members. Get yourself a club identification card as soon as possible to enjoy these and more benefits.

3. *Support for writers*

Writers of various kinds of work will be given a platform to present their pieces during club meetings or in the official club WhatsApp group. Get sharing.

4. *Literature Circles*

Literature circles are sub groups formed by categorizing individual members by their favorite genre of books. Club meetings will be led by a different circle each time. This helps expose everyone to different kinds of books and keeps us from becoming a "one-genre" club.

Look out for our branded T-shirts coming to Campus soon.

Thank you once again.

God bless CBU BOOK CLUB.

A book you’ll click with.

“Click” is yet another book that packages psychological studies and common knowledge regarding the science of human interaction into a great “How-to-__”
The seven accelerators of human ...... are:

1. Vulnerability ("There's power in vulnerability")
2. Proximity ("A few feet can make a big difference")
3. Resonance ("Resonance begets resonance")
4. Similarity ("Similarity counts; quantity trumps quality")
5. Environment ("The environment around us can help foster intimacy")
6. Naturals ("Certain people are magnets")
7. Personal Elevation ("Quick-set intimacy can bring the best in us")

The book's length (quick and to-the-point) and the appealing topic ("quick-set intimacy") make it enjoyable on many levels. Give Click a chance you're bound to like it. That's that.:)

Tomorrow we review The law of Success by Napoleon Hill. Asher Zimba will chair. It's a fantastic book, written with an almost "cocky" confidence. It is as easy to read, as it is to put into practice. We're not saying this book will change your life, but it will show you how you can.
Sunday at 17 hrs in the new male hostels common room. Be there 👊👊

Awakening The Giant, book review.

THIS WEEK’S BOOK REVIEW: AWAKENING THE GIANT WITHIN- BY TONY ROBINS
Tony Robins, is a businessman, philanthropist and author. He came from humble beginnings and worked his way up the success ladder.
This week we review one of his books,” Awakening The Giant Within”. In Awakening The Giant, Tony Robins lays down the principles for the attainment of ultimate success in every aspect of life.
1. Creating permanent change- Creating permanent change requires that we ought to:
a) Raise our standards
b) Change our limiting beliefs
c) Change our strategy
2. Decisions- The power to change our circumstances lies in the ability to make the right decisions and if the decisions are to be effective, they should be acted upon as follows:
a) Decide what you want
b) Take action
c) Notice what’s working and what’s not
d) Change your approach until it works
3. Pain and pleasure- We all strive to move away from pain and towards pleasure. . “Everything you and I do, we do either out of our need to avoid pain or our desire to gain pleasure”, We can use this natural response to strengthen our focus on our goals.
4. Belief systems and reference experiences- We have to believe that what we seek to achieve can be attained. Build a system of thoughts and ideas that strengthen this belief in oneself and the ability to create great things; perception is reality!
5. Questions are the answers- We need to ask ourselves the right questions. The more empowering questions we ask, the closer we get to finding what we are looking for.
6. The vocabulary of ultimate success- Strive to use words that are full of life and energy as often as possible. For example, instead of using words like “fine”, use words like “amazing, awesome and great”.
7. Life’s values- Life’s values are a personal compass. Knowing what your core values are is a great importance in the road to success. Write down what your core values are and accomplish them according to the order of importance.
8. Rules- Whether we realize it or not, we all live by rules (At-least you should), hence is is important to set rules that are not impossible or too straining to meet, out of your control or rules you can easily break. Set realistic rules that will help propel you towards your goals.
9. Physical Destiny- IS WEALTH.

This is a summary of the discussion that was held on Sunday 16th Oct 2016. Join us next week Sunday 23rd of Oct ,17:00hrs at the new male hostels common room. The book under discussion will be “How to win an interview” by Mark Stein.

The Book In Three Sentences:
1.“Any time you sincerely want to make a change, the first thing you must do is to raise your standards and believe you can meet them”.
2.“We must change our belief system and develop a sense of certainty that we can and will meet the new standards before we actually do”.
3.“It’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives, but what we do consistently”.

You can know whoever you want, care to find out what they think about you? How they see you? We are all constantly trying to sell. Top 10 Habits That Make You Rich 04/05/2015

1. Set Daily Goals

It’s not enough to set long-term goals, you need daily goals. At the end of each day, reflect back on what you did and how this has helped you get you one step closer to reaching your goals. Think of what you can do to improve your chances and make sure you set your goals for the next day on your To-Do list accordingly.

2. Practice Active Listening

Active listening is a skill that’s essential to any field as it can help you understand what other people need from you. For example, if you are starting up a business talking less and listening more might be the key to your success. Develop your ability to listen carefully to other people, and you will be able to learn and help those around you.

3. Take Care of Your Personal Health

Exercising and following a healthy diet is crucial to success. If you manage exercise, you can make it your daily habit so that you become more productive and get things done easier and quicker.

4. Network Regularly and Volunteer

Don’t underestimate the power of networking. Connecting with other people and offering your help are also major predictors of success and ultimately wealth. Make sure you are reaching out to others and introducing yourself so that you get yourself noticed and stand out from the crowd.

5. Watch Less TV

Most successful people avoid spending more than an hour watching TV each day. Some don’t even watch TV at all. Why? They know they could be doing something that’s more productive than wasting their time in front of a box.

6. Read Every Day

Reading can help you improve yourself, develop your knowledge and encourage you to see the world differently. Find a book you like and spend around 30 minutes a day reading it. You could also buy educational career-related materials to help you develop professionally or check news websites regularly to keep yourself up to date with news around the world.

7. Develop Your Skills

One of the best ways to become what you are dreaming of is by developing your skills. If you want to become better at what you do either to progress career wise, get a promotion or into a job that offers a more satisfactory salary, you have to invest in your talent and develop your expertise to make sure that you will get ahead of the competition.

8. Think Positive

Positive thinking is more than a habit, is a way of life. If you learn how to eliminate negative and self-limiting thoughts, it’s much easier to keep a positive outlook on everything. Be friendly and enthusiastic and make sure you are always open to new opportunities.

9. Save Money

Studies have shown that managing your money effectively can help you become rich. If you manage to control your expenses and save a percentage of your earnings each day, it is guaranteed you will be much richer than you used to be in no time.

10. Hang out with like-minded people

Spending time with like-mind individuals will not only you get to exchange opinions in terms of becoming rich and successful, but will also help you achieve your goals much quicker.

People will shut you out. They’ll regard you with suspicion.
They’ll undermine your self-confidence. They’ll offer you every reason

REALITY and EXPECTATION
Speaking in the two-fold sense, there's reality and expectation €. These two worlds operate by different sets of rules. A Statistician tries to bridge the gap using science so as to have Expectation (€) as accurate as possible by inevitably introducing the error in his inferential calculations (He obviously saw the immediate inevitable need to acknowledge the error). An Accountant, on the other hand, draws up books like "provision for doubtful debts". Error, is very important. Mastery and acknowledgement of the Error principle will serve profitably in your endeavors.
