Hair dye and chemical straightener use and breast cancer risk in a large US population of black and white women 05/12/2019

This research was discovered before, but it seems like it's been rediscovered by researchers out of North Carolina: Among all participants, personal straightener use was associated with breast cancer risk with higher risk associated with increased frequency. Nonprofessional application of semipermanent dye and straighteners to others was associated with breast cancer risk. We observed a higher breast cancer risk associated with any straightener use and personal use of permanent dye, especially among black women. These results suggest that chemicals in hair products may play a role in breast carcinogenesis. - This research shows that women have to be extra diligent when researching chemical products. We love our cancer survivor clients and we will continue to do what we can to support you and watch out for you. Hair dye and chemical straightener use and breast cancer risk in a large US population of black and white women 05/12/2019

We are reading these news articles and the actual clinical study these news articles are based on. This is what jumped out at us: "46,706 women ages 35–74, were enrolled between 2003 and 2009, and had a sister with breast cancer but were breast cancerfree themselves. Enrollment questionnaires included past 12-month hair product use. During follow-up (mean = 8.3 years), 2,794 breast cancers were identified. Fifty-five percent of participants reported using permanent dye at enrollment. Permanent dye use was associated with 45% higher breast cancer risk in black women, and 7% higher risk in white women." - Here is the full report - https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/epdf/10.1002/ijc.32738?referrer_access_token=gJcEDIc4tfMpBSe44_qom04keas67K9QMdWULTWMo8N4v3ZOmabsczOLk9UPFn8NYxbj0kxwBqSFQYWJxbtah9oioMvjgU-iBiUuRNVJCjWVTtDbFmTuvyBFS_ieBUN-BRxNizClOw5eKd76OjoUSg%3D%3D

What your therapist wants you to know about CBT CBT aims to uncover unhelpful or problematic ways of thinking in order to change unwanted or unhealthy behaviors.

Rick Ross: Seizures Stemmed From LACK OF SLEEP...

Rick Ross might spend every-day hustlin', but the rapper says he'll be resting more after suffering a pair of seizures last month.

Appearing on TV on Tuesday night, the MC said, "I'm feeling wonderful."

Following two seizures aboard a jet bound for Memphis, Tenn., on Oct. 14, he said he was asked by doctors about his sleeping habits.

He revealed he hadn't slept 8 hours a night in FIVE YEARS, due to his musical commitments and label duties at Maybach Music.

"I would get two hours of sleep and keep moving… that has to stop," he said.

We hear this a lot. Its easier to keep pushing, but we have to allow time for our mind and body to RESET.

2 OVERLOOKED SIGNS OF SLEEP APNEA

Evaluating our own sleep is difficult because well, we’re asleep. While we may notice “small” things like waking up to cough or catch our breath, these symptoms are often dismissed about as soon as we fall back into a deep sleep. Sleep apnea speculations are usually brought on by a loved one who has noticed that you have an abnormal breathing pattern while you’re asleep or worse, your sleeping pattern has disrupted their ability to sleep altogether. While these concerns are often addressed in a humorous manner initially, sleep apnea is no laughing matter.

Being sleep deficient can lead to a number of serious illnesses. Sleep apnea alone can increase the risk for high blood pressure, heart attacks, stroke, obesity and diabetes according to the HeartBEAT study.

Here are some signs that may mean you’re due for a sleep test.

Being sleep deficient can lead to a number of serious illnesses. Sleep apnea alone can increase the risk for high blood pressure, heart attacks, stroke, obesity and diabetes according to the HeartBEAT study.

Here are some signs that may mean you’re due for a sleep test.

1. Morning headaches

Morning headaches are a very common sign of sleep apnea.

“It started with waking up with severe headaches where taking Advil or other over the counter medicine did not help… Obviously, I never put two and two together to recognize that I was having an issue. Today, I sleep with a CEPAP machine. I no longer have headaches and I have lost about twenty pounds,” said Janice Elliot-Howard, author of The Confident Tells.

2. Daytime sleepiness

Sleep apnea affects your ability to get a good nights sleep. So, experiencing daytime sleepiness, i.e., falling asleep anytime you’re in a quiet and comfortable position during normal daytime activities, may be a sign of sleep apnea.

It’s common for those with sleep apnea to feel as though they’ve gotten a full night’s sleep, regardless of the many interruptions. So, they may not associate feeling tired with symptoms of sleep apnea, according to MayoClinic.
