Framed tapestry, hand stitched needlepoint with petit point details, after the famous “Lady and the Unicorn” series at the Musee de Cluny in Paris. The original series of 1500 era tapestries are Flemish, and are among the most famous textiles in the world.

Vintage possibly 40+ years old, this work of art depicts a young woman under a tent with a unicorn.

Coming to the Botanical Gardens Antiques and vintage fair Nr Carmarthen, run by

*Llangollen Pottery (1950-1980?) north Wales; the pottery certainly existed in 1951 - they were invited to have a stand at the town’s Festival of Britain trade exhibition in June 1951 but this invite was declined.  Founded by Rhys Powell and wife Jean it was one of the first studio potteries in Wales.  Occupying premises at the Old Waterloo Forge, around 1953-54 moved to Regent Street until closure.

This pattern was first made in 1965 and was produced until 1973. The pattern is composed of small sprigs of light and medium blue flowers (forget-me-nots) with light green stems and leaves. The tips of the flowers have a hint of pink. Beautifully trimmed in gold.
