Wounded Touch
Noisy, harsh Midwestern hardcore for damaged ears.
Spending a weekend with the machines in Gif From God to open the new year in two cities we’ve never played before.
[STEEL YOURSELF]
Saturday was the perfect last hardcore show of the year. Thank you to everyone who took the stage and floor during our set, to the Sweat Fest crew and all our friends who played. As we prepare for the next year, the new material, the shows and the chaotic metalcore terror to come, we want to thank all our friends from around the world for continuing to support this band. Never been cool, never cared. It’s all about those 22 minutes on stage and those who care enough to listen. Thank you.

Leaving 2023 having played SXSW, Furnace Fest activities, one small Midwest run with Frail Body, some of the biggest one off shows we’ve ever played, a trip to the studio at the beginning of the year…and a trip to the studio at the end for something soon as well as an East Coast series of dates announcing soon.
Thank you everyone who has helped push (or sometimes even dragged) us along and kept us active this year. It just may have gotten us to the finish line in time for 2024. See us next week for our last show of the year in in Grand Rapids for the final Sweat Fest at Skelletones.
What if I told you there will be a way to grab an exclusive variant of the second pressing of “Americanxiety” for $9 this Sunday?

A week from today, the Furnace Fest opening ceremonies.
Our last show of the year will be the final Sweat Fest on 12/9 with this huge representation of MI/West MI/Midwest hardcore, powerviolence, metalcore, and shoegaze.
The west side of the state has always been good to us. We can’t wait to return.
The Cicada Man lives. A look at some of the threads we will have with us this Saturday and next month at Zao and Furnace Fest from Blind Dog Merch.
For the real ones that asked for it, we’re doing a preorder for a run of camo windbreakers through Blind Dog Merch. Each preorder will come with a patch and sticker and expected to ship early September. Order one now so you can sneak away invisibly after spinkicking someone in the jaw.

Alabama, we’re coming back. 9/21 the official Furnace Fest / Smartpunk preshow at Iron City Brewing with Madball, Jesus Piece, Creeping Death and Advent. This lineup is unbelievable and we’re humbled to be a part of it. Thursday, we’re starting the weekend by kicking off the hinges with this one.

Pete treated us like friends when we were strangers and peers when we had no business being on a stage of that size with bands of that size. Most of us grew up listening to WACDF on repeat, having no idea that 18 years later we’d be playing what no one knew at the time would be not only a reunion at Furnace Fest, but also Pete’s last RN set. Something in the room that night felt different than any other set that weekend at Furnace. Something in the air felt alive as the crowd screamed Pete’s words back to at the band as we watched side stage. What Pete did for hardcore/metalcore/goony straight edge kids looking for a voice in the 2000s is incalculable. Enjoy your rest, friend. You earned it a long time ago.
“I won’t stop screaming until everyone is listening.”
The second pressing of our debut LP ‘Americanxiety’ is available now over at the Smartpunk online store or through our Bandcamp page. Available in blue with black spatter or white with black spatter. Limited to 250 each.

8/19 This lineup is legitimately irresponsible. It’s a fu***ng bomb. It’s a firefight. I wanna see your face (at the show).
We’ve always been a band made up of nerds and cinephiles and when the prospect of a music video always comes around, usually the immediate thoughts are of what films can we riff on.
The original video for our first single ‘Excision’ was heavily influenced by ‘Tetsuo: The Iron Man’ conceptually and premiered on the horror site Dread Central. Diving deeper in with both concept, coloring and art design, we leaned into the William Friedkin masterpiece ‘Bug’ (if you haven’t seen it, change that now) for our debut LP single ‘Excerpts From a Violent Thesis’. Most recently, our video for the single ‘Sleep a Cicada Would Envy’ took liberal influence from many sources but the content, narrative flow and imagery all stemmed from a love of ‘Jacob’ Ladder.’ The record featured numerous film references, but these are ones we found ourselves most proud of and is a trend that will likely continue in our releases.
Next up. 6.14.23 with Gif From God Ogemaw County and Godseyes at Sanctuary Detroit. Loud as hell.

Some behind the scenes shots by Neil Hazel from the performance section of the Cicada music video shoot.
We shot this in the skeletal remains of a building left at an abandoned summer camp.
For better or worse, we made it to the front page of Lambgoat. 🧐

‘May you know my scars of healing.’
Set from November 2022 at the Ottawa Tavern now up thanks to Punkbedfilms. Surely more to be brought into the light of day these next few weeks from us.
One sleepless month from today.
Let’s just say we had something new coming with a corresponding music video. I can tell you that music video would be absolutely bats**t.
Home from the last week and a half of frantic driving and we came back with literally no shirts left and only a handful of shorts and vinyl to our name, something none of us anticipated. Frail Body , who are one of our collective favorite modern bands, welcomed us in and took us under their wings for these handful of shows and hopefully they know this means we’ll be harassing them to do it again for quite some time. Thank you to everyone who flooded our merch table and watched/listened. Hopefully your ears are ready for something special coming at the head of the summer. Thank you as well to our friend Joe Xu and to Heavenly Blue for lending us their van for these dates.
Austin TX, thank you for our first SXSW and for everything you gave us and everything you took home from our merch table. We not only hope we get to return, but will do everything within our power to insure we do.

One year ago today our debut LP “Americanxiety” released. A million sappy things could be said and a million people need to be thanked, and a follow up post is coming but we wanted to say for now that we found the final ten copies of the first pressing “oxygen mask” variant and wanted to post a little anniversary package. Limited to ten, we want to offer up the o2 mask variant, two stickers, and (one) Manga artwork variant tee for $30. This record has taken us to the other side of the world, to festivals into this year, and gotten us onto stages and opened friendships with bands we idolized growing up. Help us lay this first pressing to rest. We also have the 12” available alone on the online store as well. Taking it down Monday and selling whatever we have left at SXSW. Link in bio.

Austin, next month we’ll be making our way down on the 17th and 18th as part of an *unofficial* two day bash within SXSW hosted by Smartpunk featuring live tattooing, skating, and food trucks alongside a mixed bill of all genres.
To anyone looking to party in Austin during SXSW, make your way over. We’ll be featuring a special item at our merch table starting this weekend.
