First Alert! Watching next week very closely. A huge storm system will develop and move the the central U.S. Monday into Tuesday. This system will have heavy snow north and severe weather south. Right now most of our guidance brings rain and wind to the Heartland followed by a little snow on the back side. If this system moves farther south our winter impact could be much greater. Stay tuned to the latest on next week's system.

Our hearts are breaking for the Stone County Sheriff’s Office. They had a deputy shot and killed in the line of duty this afternoon. Please keep his family both blood and blue in your prayers.

💰 Million Dollar Question 💰 answered 👇
Will you see snow flakes fly occasionally this afternoon through tomorrow afternoon?
Yes!
However, little to no accumulation is expected. Here is the latest chance of a snow dusting through tomorrow night. ❄️

Short range data is getting a little interesting for Friday morning. The "flurries" we have been mentioning for a few days might briefly be enough to call "snow showers", BUT the temperatures should remain above freezing, so still NO WORRIES expected right now. We are watching it though.

26/12/2023

Who’s ready for some flurries? It could happen Friday morning, but no big problems are expected. ❄️ Updates on K8 News through the week.

First Alert! Watching the possibility of a strong storm system this weekend I want to get ahead of this as soon there will be snowfall graphics floating around social media as a couple of operational models are showing a significant snow. This far out you have to stick with analogs and ensembles. This is the ensemble from the operational model showing the most snow. This image shows the chance of seeing one inch of snow. As you can see, there is less than a 20% of seeing an inch of snow with this system right now for most of the area. Of course this could change. As I say every winter, never believe a snowfall graphic that is over 5 days out. It will change!
