SAY IT’S NOT TRUE
(NEW RELEASE BY ALEXIS GERRED)
In support of The Chartwell Cancer Trust & The Bowel Babe Fund
I have always loved this song by Roger Taylor - Official, Its always connected with me. I remember the first time I heard it whilst watching Queen & Paul Rogers at the O2 and I just knew this song was powerful and could oneday become Important to so many people, including me.
Right Now? After my beautiful Mums recent and unexpected cancer diagnosis - I appreciate, more than ever, that music really can capture emotion.
Mums diagnosis is Stage 4 and Incurable Colon Cancer. This earth shaking news is, of course, hard enough for us all as family & friends to deal with but I just can not imagine how my brave and strong mum is able to show to the outside world sheer grit and determination and yet still give us, her family, continued love and support despite her fears.
This song - for me, just hit like a ton of bricks. It sums up all the sadness, disbelief, pain, anger and confusion that I sometimes do not have the strength to articulate into words. What’s more, I know my Dad and Brother feel exactly the same and that’s why I wanted them to also provide their vocals on this track. It’s become a real bonding experience that we’ve all rallied around in order to show how unified we are in such an awful time.
This is a cover song - I did not write it and therefore I don’t make any money from it. If I did, I would be sending the profits to charity. However, I really would like this song to make a difference.
If you know my Mum or if this rendition strikes a chord with you, it would mean the world to us as a family if you could donate to our chosen charities (LINKS IN COMMENTS)
The Chartwell Trust is my Mums choice. She is currently under their care. The Cancer team and Macmillan nurses have made a real difference and can not speak highly enough about the service they provide.
The other charity is the Bowel Babe Fund. Obviously, the nation continue to show there love for this brave and wonderful woman that fought not just for herself - but for the awareness of Bowel Cancer. She’s a hero and I personally would like to help continue her amazing work by supporting and contributing to her charity.
I hope you enjoy the song and music video. This is my family and I laid bare - but it’s important. Although sometimes you feel like the world is caving in around you and directing all the pain your way - it’s important to remember that so many people are fighting the same emotional and physical battles. We must be there for each other - It’s all we have. Compassion, Love and Understanding.
As for my mum? She's doing really well as she continues to fight and live life to the best she possibly can... For that, we're all very grateful for every day!
Love you Mum # # #
