Angel's Care Fund

At ACF we support rescue/shelter dogs by providing medical funding for needed procedures.

We provide outreach to shelter and rescues by supplying much needed food, toys, leashes and enrichment items.

As rewarding as it can be, animal advocacy can be responsible for some burn out and cynicism. Angel’s Care Fund (ACF) is not immune to those feelings, so when there is something to celebrate, we make sure to lift it up. ACF is fortunate to have some awesome relationships. Pet Supplies Plus - Lees Summit, MO and their generous customers keep us in donations from their barrel and are always ready to help load or pet the occasional foster pup. The people we meet are icing on the cake: that happened at the last pick up when we met a new friend. Jennifer was celebrating her 30th birthday by giving back to the community. She asked for dog and cat food at her party and got some cash also. She and her family were shopping and distributing food to local shelters when we met. They asked what was needed just after we had seen our friends at Chain of Hope (COH) request cat food. They stepped up and added it to our donations. It was delivered to COH and the circle was completed. Thank you, Jennifer, Pet Supplies Plus - Lees Summit, MO and COH for brightening our day.

We are so happy when we can help an organization in need. If you're an Independence resident and want to help your community, go to the Independence Health and Animal Services FB Page or website and see how to donate. Because of our awesome donors, we were fortunate to have some items the Independence Animal Shelter needed. Thank you to all who have contributed. We couldn't do it without you.

Click on our recent posts to see themed gift baskets available for anyone in your life who you would like to gift, as well as contribute to the medical needs of rescue and shelter dogs. Thank you for your support.
*****************************************************************
Angel’s Care Fund (ACF) is the result of a chance encounter with a shelter dog who had a special medical need. Angel was a four-year-old German Shepherd Dog with a grade six heart murmur and no prospect of help. A small group of shelter volunteers intervened to raise funds for Angel’s lifesaving surgery.
ACF has been an established 501c3 nonprofit organization since 2017. ACF raises money to assist rescues and shelters with extraordinary medical expenses for dogs who would not have a chance to find a home without medical intervention. These conditions include parvo puppies, heartworm treatment, femoral head ostectomy, EKG, and many more surgeries, treatments and procedures.
As of December 31, 2023, ACF’s medical funding contributions reached $75,292.42. Together, with our donors, all of us have made a difference in the lives of many dogs.
There is such a tremendous need in the shelter/rescue community. Dogs are entering shelters and rescues at an alarming rate. ACF is looking at new ideas for fundraising to provide support for dogs like Angel who are not adoptable due to a medical condition. Selling gift baskets on Facebook Marketplace is a new initiative for us. Everything in these baskets come to us as a 100% donation. Thank you for possibly considering ACF for some of your shopping needs.
Here are some of the gift baskets currently for sale. Arrangements will be made to meet up for delivery. Our local area is Independence, MO near I70 and 291 hwy.

Sheryl Ann Frank Obituary 2024 - Park Lawn Funeral Homes 10/05/2024

Aren't we always surprised by life's twists and turns.
Our local rescue community was beyond surprised recently by the passing of a good friend and a wonderful advocate for any animal who crossed her path.
Sheryl Frank always enjoyed a practical joke....in particular the ones she played on others, but her soft heart had her crying her eyes out at the drop of a hat at the abuse or passing of an animal.
Sheryl collected toys for her beloved dogs like others collect Facebook "likes." All toys and dog clothes were new or like new. Thanks to Sheryl's generous family and friends, LL dog rescue, where Sheryl's beloved Angel was adopted from, and Angel's Care Fund(ACF) are benefitting from Sheryl's treasures. ACF will add these wonderful toys to baskets for raffles and auctions to support the medical needs of dogs currently in rescues and shelters.

UPDATE: CHECK COMMENTS FOR MOXIE'S OFFICIAL DNA RESULTS. IF YOU'VE CONSIDERED DOING THIS IT'S NOT ONLY FUN BUT CAN EVEN PROVIDE MEDICAL INFORMATION. CONFIRMS YOU CAN'T LABEL A DOG'S BREED ON LOOKS ALONE.
Ending this week with something fun sounds like a good idea. A rescued pup in our ACF family received a DNA kit from her grandma for Christmas. The results are in. How close can you get? Add your guesses in the comments. Results will be posted Monday February 19. Just for fun.

Congratulations, Kansas City Chiefs!! It's so much fun to be a part of the excitement of the city. What About them Chiefs!!

Angel's Care Fund is so excited to be a part of another community outreach distribution. All of the dog supply donations received from Pet Supplies Plus - Lees Summit, MO and their customers went to Pawportunities this month. Thank you PSP!
Precious dogs, like Vulcan and Ronan, are waiting for their furever homes. That means Pawportunities has a lot of hungry mouths to feed.
If you are interested in fostering or adopting, please go to their website and complete the application.
Vulcan and Ronan love their foster home, are thriving and learning to be doggies. What puppy wouldn't love 💕 a truck full of food?
In addition, all cat supply donations have been distributed to a dedicated volunteer who helps community cats in Independence.
It truly takes a village.

We hope everyone's New Year is starting off on a positive leg! As ACF turns the last page of 2023, we want to share a few highlights.

While we are excited about the accomplishments of 2023, our goal is to exceed those in 2024. We are challenging ourselves to "think outside the box," bringing new ideas to ACF and our supporters.
In addition, we love our current and continued partnership with Pet Supplies Plus - Lees Summit, MO who trusts ACF and provides us with needed supplies for community outreach.

We also expanded participation in fall events in 2023. We feel so good when friends tell us they remember us from another event they attended or remember us from last year.

* 2023, ACF donated $4,500 in medical assistance to various organizations for several dogs.

* 2023, ACF redistributed ~2,400 lbs of dog food and ~200 lbs of cat food.

* Since our conception, March 2017, ACF has donated over $75,000 in medical expenses. This includes parvo pups treatment, heartworm treatments, electrocardiograms, and surgeries from the very common to very unique.

We appreciate each and every one of our supporters, and thank you for your donations, help, encouragement, and friendship. Here's to 2024!

ACF wants to wish everyone a happy new year! Once again we appreciate all the support we've received in 2023. Together, with our amazing supporters, we hope to make 2024 a year of celebrating, life-saving, and life-changing measures for dogs in need. Thank you for your continued support!

Tomorrow Cobalt, @ Friends of the Friendless Animal Rescue & Laura Stephens has his first of two surgeries. Keep this sweet, young dog and his foster family in your positive thoughts and prayers over these next days and weeks of healing. Stay tuned for information on his second surgery a few months from now and follow Cobalt's story on Friends of the Friendless Animal Rescue FB page❤️.

Merry Christmas from Angel's Care Fund!

Great Plains SPCA contacted us recently about Yuki, an 8 year old French Bulldog with bladder stones. One of the bladder stones was lodged at the end of his urethra and blocking him so that he was unable to urinate. The veterinarian at Great Plains was unable to flush the stone out of the urethra into the bladder so Yuki was sent to the specialists at MIssion Veterinary Emergency & Specialty hospital. The stone was successfully flushed back into the bladder and Yuki went back to Great Plains where the veterinarian was able to remove the stones from Yuki's bladder. The staff at Great Plains describe Yuki as a fun, boisterous little guy with lots of personality. Angel's Care Fund was thrilled that Great Plains contacted us for assistance and, because of our supporters, we were able to provide $500 towards his specialty expenses.

It was a nice time at George Owens Nature Park on the 6th. We understand there are 68 "ugly sweaters " placed along the trail. Shared here is a sampling for those who didn't get to get out there. If you want to see all 68, they'll be displayed through January, 2024.
