Kirkwall Flower Arrangement Club

Our June meeting takes place on Thursday 6th at 7pm in the St Magnus Hall. Following on with our anniversary theme for this year, Marlene will be demonstrating “Paper”. If you need inspiration, there will be lined lidded paper boxes on the sales table. You could make a paper container or incorporate paper in an arrangement using flowers and greenery of your choice. As ever visitors and new members will be made very welcome.

At our May meeting on Thursday 2nd we will, once again, be making Friendship Bouquets. Sue will be demonstrating and we’ll have a plant sale as well as the usual raffle and club library. New members and visitors are very welcome so come along to the St Magnus Centre at 7pm to join in the fun.
The following day, Friday 3rd May being National Flower Arranging day, we will be leaving our arrangements at random spots for the public to find and take home - with the compliments of a member of Kirkwall Flower Arrangement Club!

Brenda will be demonstrating ‘Sapphire Blue’ at our April meeting. She has suggested that, as there may not be a big choice of blue flowers available, she will likely concentrate on using blue containers.
So bring something blue along with your choice of flowers and foliage to the St Magnus Centre at 7pm next Thursday the 4th for what promises to be an enjoyable evening. New members and visitors are always welcome!

Next Thursday the 7th is the date for our March meeting. Esther will be demonstrating our theme for the evening which is "Crystal & Glass". So bring suitable container(s), flowers and foliage and join in the fun! Visitors and new members are always welcome. Remember meetings now start at 7pm.

In appreciation of all they have done for the club, Marilyn, Jean and Mary all received flowers recently. Barry delivered the ‘thank you’ gift to Marilyn.

Our first meeting of 2024 happens on Thursday 1st February in the usual venue of the St Magnus Centre, BUT REMEMBER MEETINGS NOW START AT THE EARLIER TIME OF 7PM.
Jan will be demonstrating “Wood”, the title for the meeting, and she has made some suggestions. Members can base their arrangements on:-
‘You can either have a container made from wood or a wooden base of some sort or use wood within the arrangement. Driftwood, branches/twigs, bark, just for ideas. Bring a few flowers and greenery to complement.’
If you are interested in flower arranging now is the time to join! We will be very happy to welcome new members and visitors.

Here is our syllabus for 2024. Starting in February all our meetings will start at the new time of 7pm in the usual venue of the St Magnus Centre. As 2024 is our 65th (Sapphire Blue) Anniversary our theme is based on some of the gifts associated with various anniversaries. We look forward to seeing old friends and new after the Christmas break – February’s title is ‘Wood’ - time to get your thinking caps on!
