〰️ What do you do for fun/work/family?

I have been in the finance business focusing on energy equities for over 20 years. I have a passion for cooking and barbecuing for my family and large groups. For fun that would include barbeque, fishing, hunting, playing tennis, and traveling with the family!

〰️ How did you get involved with The Boars Nest?

Chris Puckett and I met through his wife who was my co-worker at the time. We started cooking briskets for a party during St. Patrick's day over 15 years ago. That snowballed into our first Hogs team and morphed into a group small group that we named The Boar's Nest. Chris and I wanted to continue our efforts to help kids with brain cancer through our love of BBQ. I actually came up with the name The Boars Nest as we needed a different and fresh name for this rowdy group of guys. In 2014 we premiered in a TV show called the Underground BBQ Challenge on the Travel Channel where we competed in a BBQ show in front of a live audience and also were able to promote our efforts and passion to raise money and awareness for pediatric brain cancer 🫶

〰️ What do you do for fun/work/family?

I grew up in North Carolina where I learned how to do BBQ from some of the best in the business. The past 22 years in New Orleans have been amazing and it is definitely home. A husband, father of four, entrepreneur, etc. While I have created and run numerous business ventures, the best job I have is family. When not focused on that, you can find me in the kitchen, in the gym, fishing/hunting, or traveling.

〰️ How did you get involved with The Boars Nest?

When I was 17, I lost my mother to brain cancer. When I met my wife, she was very aware of how it shaped who I am and that I still had some work to do on some unresolved feelings. She worked with Becker Hall, Co-Founder of Hogs for The Cause. Knowing I enjoyed making BBQ, she mentioned their efforts to me. Twelve days before the third year of the contest, she signed me up and said;"This will be good for you." I grabbed a few friends and family and we came in 2nd; Grand Champion Runner-Up. She was right.....it was very good for me.....and it has grown into an amazing organization! A really good one that has a common core of supporting families dealing with pediatric brain cancer 🫶

A quick break for our origin story 🐗

Boar’s Nest was established in 2011. Back then, we started out with 11 members. Today, we have over 85 and as one of the largest teams at the festival, we have been able to raise over ✨ $1 Million ✨ for children with pediatric brain cancer. This money and donations raised, are sent out as grants to help families with the economic burden as their child is being treated.

Our mission is not only to set out and compete at Hogs For The Cause, but also be one of the top contributors to this amazing charity. We are proud to be part of Hogs for the Cause and look forward to contributing more and more, year after year.

The Boar’s Nest is registered as a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, so all of your donations to us are 100% tax-deductible!
