Ration Fashion was created with the reenactor, vintage enthusiast and clothing collector in mind. Heathyr is a fourth generation seamstress.
Ration offers truly unique, historically accurate vintage reproductions for women of all walks of life. Owner and Operator: Heathyr Haskins
Like every great invention, Ration Fashion was born in 2008 out of necessity. The vintage reproduction market was being flooded with poorly made and incorrectly fabricated clothing that as a reenactor, Heathyr couldn't justify wearing. The need for articles
of clothing that would portray to the unknowing viewer what was actually worn during the years of World War II, was becoming great. Original clothing in good condition was hard to find, and when found could be rather costly. Gathering her knowledge of sewing and design, she began amassing images of textiles, trims, notions and clothing from 1930- 1945. Her main interest was in creating a line of clothing that was not only easy to wash and wear, but was accurate down to the proper thread. The only difference between her designs and the clothing produced almost 70 years ago is that it is made currently! She earned her BFA from Moore College of Art and Design in 2005 with a degree in Fashion Design. She apprenticed under Koos Van Den Akker who, as a couture designer himself, taught her the tailoring techniques of the early 20th century. In her spare time she is a reenactor on the East Coast portraying British and American roles. Her clothing has been seen on the History Channel, "Don't Walk!" Charity Fashion Show in St. Andrews, Scotland, on tour with Combichrist and in several music videos.
