My dad has Alzheimer’s. Pretty advanced but he’s still talking. He is a painter, and loves painting pets now. While his style used to be classical realism (see the photo Album “Previous Paintings”) his best attempts now are much more folk art-like with vibrant colors (see “Before and After” photo album). We are finding that he feels even more validated during this time when he gets paid for his work, and we are putting all money towards his housing at an appropriate facility in our home town. All of my siblings now have amazingly odd but glorious, touching and lovely paintings of our animals. We are putting it out there to see if anyone has a pet they’d like painted by my dad.
He says “godammit it’s a steal a $100!” which tells you a bit about his old personality! He paints in acrylic or oil, sort of whatever he’s feeling. t’s amazing really considering his stage.
