This fictional, but truthfully inspired, story about Georgia Tan & the scandal that was the Tennessee Children’s Home Society, was incredibly heart breaking. What makes it hard to stomach is that the story is closely based on the actual experiences families.
BWWY is well written & Wingate’s characters really pull you into the story. Wingate does a great job of writing a memoir style story with a mystery undertone.
Towards the end I wished it had wrapped up a little sooner, but if you’re looking for a book to really sucks you in, I highly recommend Before We Were Yours.

Welcome to all of our new friends. We would love to hear what you are currently reading?

I picked up Mia for my daughter in early Elementary when I wanted to read her a book about girl super heros

Mia Meyhem is a really cute children’s to middle grade series about a girl name Mia that comes from a family of super hero’s & how she discovers her magical powers. Mia has to learn how to use her powers but also control them.

Did you know we have a deal that if you buy a series from us- you can save 10% on the bundle. So for Mia, that means you get 5 books at 10% off. Discount automatically applies when you add all 5 to your cart.

Multi-perspective. Dual timelines. Strong FMCs.
Historical Fiction with a touch of magical realism.

Two women’s lives are tangled together even though they live nearly 100 years apart, connected by the lost manuscript of Emily Brontë.

Book Review
The ROM-Commers
By Katherine Center
Rated: PG (maybe PG-13 for a little language)

Katherine Center strikes again. This was my second book of hers & I loved that she brought in characters from The Bodyguard. The banter between Emma & Charlie was spot on. The Rom-Commers was an overall entertaining read (listen).

There were times that I wanted to yell at Emma for being so dense, but she was likable, witty, & smart. Charlie was a great character also & it was fun to see Emma get the best of him multiple times overall. Katherine does a really good job with character development too, which makes the reading experience believable.

Great book for someone who likes romance, but doesn’t like overly sexual material or lots of language. There was the occasional word here & there was fairly minimal.

June New Releases.
A few of our Shelf friends read some ARCs & we have included their reviews.
Which one are you looking forward to?

The Selection:
Well written YA book. Intriguing, great character development. This came to me very high recommendations & I can see why. Cass writes a beautiful dystopian, bachelor-like book. America’s character is most things parents want to see on their daughters & I would be happy to hand this to my own daughter as someone to look up to.

The Elite:
Kiera Cass understands how to write YA. She has so well composed characters that are clearly teenagers, in thought & action. And that’s refreshing. So often in YA books you find characters who take on things someone of their age wouldn’t be capable of. But Cass has written compelling, but realistic characters that are growing while breaking down barriers & thinking for themselves.
The Elite is a believable royal, dystopian bachelor. America is Katniss meets Tris crossed with a little Mia Thermopolis. And I have zero idea where this is going to end up. Kudos Kiera, kudos.
