Trailblazers are making the journey tomorrow to play in the inaugural Kevin Gannon Memorial Cup in Blanchardstown Dublin. Kevin was an integral part of Irish Powerchair Football and we are pleased to honour his memory playing the sport he loved so much.

Trailblazers didn't get the results today for the effort that the guys put into the games but its a learning experience for the team and we're sure they'll be stronger for the lessons learned against some quality opponents. Onwards to tomorrow for another round of games and we're sure the team will be doing all they can to get something out of the games.

Everyone here at Trailblazers wants to wish the best of luck to the Senior Northern Ireland Powerchair Football Team as they travel to Largs in Scotland to play in the Home Nations Tournament. Trailblazers Patrick, Scott, Sean & Ethan who makes his senior debut alongside Lightning’s Bartek and Jason will be taking on holders England, Ireland and Scotland over 2 days this weekend. We are all so proud of Trailblazers Daire, Simon and Reuben as they prepare to travel to Largs in Scotland to represent Northern Ireland at the Home Nations along with Kingston and Ellie from Lightning and Kyle from Middlesbrough. We know they'll do us proud. GAWA

We are all so very sorry to hear of the passing of Logan here at Trailblazers Powerchair Football Club. We had the pleasure of meeting Logan when he represented Scotland at the Home Nations here in N. Ireland. Our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this very sad time. May he Rest In Peace.

Sadly earlier today, Logan Mitchelson gained his wings.

Logan who was an extremely talented footballer on the pitch and gentleman off it leaves behind a huge impact on the sport and our powerchair football community.

Monaghan county councils awards night 2023 was held on Monday evening in the Hillgrove Hotel, Monaghan. The aim was to recognise people in the community who have excelled in the areas of sport & recreation, arts & culture, youth, community or environment & heritage. Our very own Pat Cumiskey was presented with the award for sport in recognition of his contribution to Trailblazers securing the AIPF Powerchair League and Cup Double in 2023.

Everyone here at Trailblazers would like to offer our sincerest condolences to our coach Michael and captain Scott, and family on the passing of their father and Grandfather Raymond. An ever present at competitions in support of them even when his health had deteriorated he will be sadly missed. May he Rest In Peace.

Trailblazers finished their league season yesterday in Gormonston with a 1-1 draw against Midlands United with star man Patrick showing nerves of steel to slot away the last minute penalty. The Belfast Derby against Lightning was up next for the guys and they made sure the result went in their favor this time with a comfortable 4-1 scoreline but after impressive results for Cork team Heroes winning both games against Dublin side M&F United the team had to settle for a 4th place league finish this year. Congratulations to runners-up Midland United and Champions DCU Storm.

Great days football yesterday for the Trailblazers Fire, the team travelled to TU Dublin Blanchardstown Campus to play against M&F United from Dublin and Cork team Heroes. They played 4 games over the course of the day winning 3 and a narrow loss by 1-0 to M&F. There was goals a plenty in 2 of the games against Heroes and a close 1-0 win in the reverse fixture against M&F United with some great football being played by the team. Congratulations Simon, Reuben, Eoin and Carl you were brilliant. 🔴⚫️

Trailblazers, Trailblazers Fire & Lightning had the pleasure of using Trailblazers new home at Newforge Sports Complex on Saturday. The recently opened and fantastic sports hall was the venue as the Fire squad got some valuable game time against Premier league opposition with 2 games against each side. Many thanks to Lightning Powerchair Football Club for bringing a team down to give the guys the experience of playing against different opposition which will help the guys in their development.

The Northern Ireland Powerchair Football squads were hosted in the Pat Jennings Suite at The National Stadium on Thursday evening to receive their International Caps. The teams had played in the Home Nations in Scotland and The FIPFA World Cup in Australia this year. The squads were treated to a beautiful meal before being presented with their caps by Northern Ireland International Aaron Hughes.

We would all like to wish Dillon a very Happy 13th Birthday today, we hope you had a wonderful day young man. 🎂🎁🎈

Members of Trailbazers and Lightning who will represent N. Ireland in the FIPFA World Cup in Sydney Australia in October were helped on their journey with a generous gift to help with training expenses from the Mary Peters Trust and joined a host of other athletes from a multitude of sports at a presentation night in the new leisure facility at Newfordge Lane. .

Trailblazers squad 23/24, missing from the line-up are Daire and Eoin but their pictures will be added soon.

The Northern Ireland Powerchair Football Team which includes players from both Trailblazers and Lightning had the pleasure of welcoming Northern Ireland’s manager Michael O’Neil and 4 of his senior squad players to a training session in the Ballysillan Leisure Center on Tuesday. The guys put on a great display against their professional counterparts and they left the hall talking about how skill full the guys were and how easy they made it look after having the experience of trying it for themselves. The session was broadcast live on the BBC as Michael was interviewed talking about the squad’s upcoming trip to Australia to play in the World Cup. A memorable night for the squad.
