Took a while because of the holidays, but received the new Cirrus Coolers double sized yesterday 😁 problem is my spot light brackets don't fit anymore so need to get that sorted out next 🀣🫣 don't ask about power gains, my power plus sits in eco mode so I don't notice any "gains" πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ also haven't done the stainless boost pipes yet. More focused on getting the van running again for work 🀣

Won't lie, I'm tempted to check out bumpers, but did some window shopping yesterday and ja, those are big windows 🀣🀣🀣

Honestly, walking into Gwahumbe Game & Spa reception makes me feel like I stumbled onto a set of Top Billing. It is without a doubt a leader in the area with world class finishes and furnishings. We came for a family day out with lunch and an Easter egg hunt, and guys, let me tell you now, we will be doing activities soon at the park. It's perfect for a relaxing day out. Even the camp site are nice, clean, and tucked away so you are guaranteed a peaceful weekend away. You, but don't get me started on how luxurious the chalets are 😍

Kids were in their element seeing wildlife and then playing on the jungle gyms.

Our mates had both recently purchased thier new toys (Rubicon + Landtrek) and I gotta say, that landtrek does nicely. Since they have just started this offroad journey we opted to run through Gwahumbe as i can safely explain and show them the basics, whilst still keeping the kids entertained. Next would be a session at killarney, so the jeep can get a chance to use the lockers 🀣 Gwahumbe isn't really a major challenge, but that is by design. Its a place where you want to come and explore. Seeing the wildlife and taking your time (which is something we have come to enjoy) Just cruising through, without the worry of scratching, denting, and adding extra maintenance woes to our lives (my intercooler popped on the way there, so that's a different story 🀣)

With us having a baby on the way (yes, you see, I have been busy playing in the bushπŸ˜‚πŸ€£) we will be doing more soft road trails and glamping excursions for this year.

Keep an eye out for when I post about things. If you keen to follow along then drop a message.

This little light of mine.. I'm gonna let it shine...πŸ€”πŸ«£

I wanted to play in the bush, but the intercooler didn't want to play and tried shushing me... but we played lekka at Gwahumbe Game & Spa , and made it home safely... tomorrow begins a tear down to see what popped...

We have already booked our spot and are super excited for a chow at Gwahumbe Game & Spa , dala the whatsapp number and make your booking. Kids are going to enjoy the Easter Egg Hunt πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I will do a drive around the park afterwards, so if you see me, just tag along πŸ˜πŸ€™πŸ»

The Team over at CMH Kempster Ford Umgeni are having a lekka social media challenge. Since I haven't been out anywhere I'll just share an old pic for attention, and tell YOU how to enter and stand a chance to win! (I'm not affiliated with them, I'm just being a nice guy πŸ€£πŸ˜‚)

To enter is simple, like and share thier page, upload a pic of your Ranger doing Ranger things, and tag them in it, and get your mates to like and share your pic 😁

Don't forget if you are in the area, pop in and have a chow at the awesome Cafe they have inside the dealership. Chow is tasty and affordable too!!

Wrong day for the beach πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ saw a jeep compass get stuck while we were taking photos, but the local urban pioneer got them out before I could get there with my tow straps of shame πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I'll catch you next time πŸ˜‚

Woza Weekend πŸ₯³ even though my weekends are filled with school activities πŸ˜‚πŸ€£

Bakkie back up and running strong again. Umgeni CMH Ford spotted the drums were leaking so they sorted that out (my talent runs out at drums..) CV Joint specialist sorted out the outer CV, and then was the big decision for tyres. I couldn't find my size Wranglers anywhere, Duratrac were over budget, and I didn't want to go down a size as the 265/75/16 works for me.

For the first time since 2009 I have changed tyre brands from Goodyear, and after many searchs opted to give the "more affordable" Patriot RT a whirl. A few people I spoke to say they get the same milage if not more than the wranglers, so will be keen to see how that unfolds. The tread and side walls make the bakkie look like a beast, and I'm excited to get some dirt under them soon.

Have a lekka Friday people

STOP! COLLABORATE AND LISTEN πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ₯³πŸ•΄πŸ•Ί

You must know by now how much I love working on my bakkie πŸ€£πŸ™ƒ

After 45000km the Power Brake pads need a change over. I have opted to go with a set of OEM pads from Ford, as I wasn't happy at the performance of the Power brake set, felt soft, dusted up quickly causing them to squeal more than a group of teens at a Taylor swift party. Which is especially annoying when creeping around a game park, or late at night searching for totsies, or even finding parking at the shopping mall.. the disc's however are spot on and I'm happy with those. Hands down would recommend you fit powerbrake disc's to your vehicle!

Took the right hand wheel off, and found my CV acting as if it was about to ask me if I had a few minutes to talk about extended warranty nonsense πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ still got grease left in there so it must have been a recent tear in the boot. That I'll leave to the professionals to clean and sort out πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

She goes in for the 160k km service on Wednesday at Umgeni Ford, where I know that Gareth and his mamba team will sort her out properly, and then need to work out what tyres I'm fitting. The Goodyears have done me well giving a constant 70k km + mileage all the time. But now stocks are running low in my size (265/75/16) and the Duratrac RT is coming in a bit too high for me (20k for a set). I don't really want to, but it might be time to try a different brand out. I like the patriot stuff but worry about the mileage they will give..

But all that aside, things are going good. Family is doing great, and we have some fun stuff planned for this year. I hope everyone here is taking it easy, and spending time with those you love, and with what you love doing ❀️

My last good deed for the year 🀣 started raining as we were leaving and came across a 4x2 hilux that had an oopsie on the clay. Sorted him out quick quick before the parks team even arrived 🀣 so that's now 2 hilux's on my UBA: Ultimate Bush Adventurer sn**ch rope 🀣 I wonder how many I can do with it πŸ€”

Thank you to everyone here for your support this year! You guys have no clue how much it means to me πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜πŸ€™πŸ» with a special thanks to my wife for all she does for our family, and how she continues to encourage and motivate me to keep things going, without that, I would have given up this chase a long time ago.

We have spent the day out at Lake Eland for our annual year end day trip. We have done this routine for the last few years on Dec 31st, as it is our family tradition of leaving the old year behind, by coming to the rivers and letting it wash our troubles down stream (sorry for the okes down stream πŸ€£πŸ˜‚)

I'm keen to see what the new year holds for us in terms of travel and adventures, aswell as our personal and business lives.

Take care everyone, see you when you see me πŸ˜ŽπŸ€™πŸ»πŸ§”πŸ»πŸ›»

Tomorrow is going to be a stinker in the sun. Deciding between the bush and the beach πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I think my body is too broken to be sweating off in the bush, so it might just be a morning beach session 🀣 Whatever you do, stayed hydrated πŸ˜πŸ€™πŸ»

That's it for me on this trip, it's my last day today and we spent it out on Rottnest Island. Perfect way to spend the last day here 😍 this post should appear while I'm still in the air, possibly while I'm getting ready for my flight from doha back to dbn. My wife and son are staying here for a bit longer. So any pics I might upload from here on out will be about what they get up to, in-between sorting some other stuff out.

Marv, Sheri, and my unofficial children, thank you very much for the support, hospitality and carting me around this last week, showing me most of what this country is about 😍❀️ We miss you terribly back home, but can see and understand why you are here. For now we will continue our journey visiting each other between countries with more surprise visits 🀣

Man this place is beautiful. From my experience here, Australia has geared itself for family entertainment and activities. There is soo much to do as a family here, and in short distances from town etc. We were going to hire a 4x4 here but I decided against it, and will rather do it next time we are out here.

If you can, make a plan and get outside with your loved ones. Even if it is a simple as going to a park down the road.

Days are becoming blurry πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I'm getting too comfortable 😐🀠

Beach vibes, my mate found a mate with a boat πŸ›₯🀣 then a wedding party decided to setup next to us 🀣

Yes I know this holiday was no offroad stuff, but that will follow on the next trip out here as I now have most of the info I need to do a proper offroad adventure. I do alot of planning before doing something 😁😏

While I was out in the sun doing some gardening, the lady's took the kids through to the local library. Seeing as my time here is almost up and my wife and son still have quiet a while of being here, they decided to get a few things to keep him busy when the others go back to school. Fun fact, you can book out toys and stuff from the library.

We headed off for an afternoon boat cruise hoping to find some dolphins, unfortunately the wind was rough and the waters murky.. not an ideal situation for dolphins.

Decided on an afternoon picnic on the beach. Wow the facilities are amazing. They even have free use gas braais everywhere. There is ample light in the evenings if your kids want to play on the swings in the parks etc. Even spotted wild Kangaroos on the drive home 😁

Back to being a tourist, let's check out Freemantle πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ€ πŸ˜ŽπŸ€™πŸ»

First stop is Cincerello's for some fish and chips, plus get to check out all the amazing fish tanks they have lined up. Even one in the men's bathroom πŸ˜‚πŸ€£ I know a few people who would love to have this at home. Something I have noticed is that there is a lot of self service restaurants.

Headed over the Shipwreck Museum where the kids got to do a treasure hunt type thing, while we went around checking out old cannons 🀣. We walked on over to the round house, then more walking through a bit of town and over the pier down to the Maritime Museum. You know this walking thing is getting a bit out of hand πŸ€£πŸ˜‚

Last few days have been spent driving around, and getting the feel for the area. Checking out shops and general pricing. You know, the stuff you can't Google 🀣

So food, clothing, toys, fuel, are all pretty much the same as in SA, except for McDonald's, way more expensive here.. Housing is also more expensive. But generally overall it's the same pricing. We don't smoke, and don't drink often enough for it to be costly lol

Photos from Diff-Lock Warrior's post 03/10/2023

Would you believe that I spent the day taking trains and busses. Then walked all over Perth CBD 🀣 don't get me wrong, still ended up being asked for change, and encountered some dodgy drunks in the streets, but if it was only around 6 people in total throughout the day then that was alot. Also no need to check over your shoulder or keep a 3rd eye on your bags and pockets etc. It's a different feeling and something that actually made me uncomfortable 🀣 like I'm prepared for a battle all the time, and there is little to no threat..

We walked along what I would say is the waterfront? Then headed into town to the tourist shops where I got yet another new hat. But this time it is a legit high quality hand made hat. Plus I look good in it 🀣🀠 even the locals thought I was from the outback visiting the city, until I opened my mouth πŸ€ͺ😝

We checked out the Perth Mint and got a few special coins to mark the occasion of our little tribe being back together again πŸ₯°

The Museum was next on the list, which was huge and needs a full day to appreciate all the items on display. I love learning about history and different cultures, and the amount of information is plentiful.

We were chasing the weather as it has been hit and go all weekend. It's either sunny or the heavens are emptying every cloud in 10secs then back to sun lol. Almost missed the train back home and had to run carrying connor and to just make it in time with seconds to spare. I must say, using the public transport here, and seeing how efficient and well routed everything is makes you feel disappointed that it's not like this back home. Would boost our tourism like crazy.

When I say surprise visit I mean that nobody knew I was coming, the plan was for my wife and son to come down for a few weeks, with me staying back home. Our first day in perth was absolutely full to say the least πŸ€£πŸ˜‚ I could start to see why it's the choice of many South Africans as it has a similar feel and vibe to back home. Just definitely way better managed 🀣 no ethekwini "is not make sure" nonsense here πŸ™„

Started the day off with a quick pop in at Bunnings where i spotted a 6x6 ranger 🀀, also thier wheel barrows have mud tires πŸ€£πŸ˜‚, then made a plan to go for a chow at Coogee Beach, where my wife was able to surprise her best friend that she hasn't seen (physically) in years. This is also why my posts are staggerd lol. Too many people needed to see us first before we could let anyone know we were here 🀣These okes have public gas braai areas here at the beach that are free to use 😳. After the beach we headed off to Cohunu Koala Park to get our feel of the local wildlife. Think of it like the flag animal farm, where most of the animals are rescues. My son loves animals, especially koalas, so this was a huge moment for him. We headed off to costco, basically a bigger and better makro vibe. Where i was made to fill the car lol Dropped the kids off at home and went to see the sunset and night market at Scarborough Beach, where I had the best pizza in my life! Hands down 100%πŸ• we eventually brought the evening to an end with a night time stroll through Kings Park and Botanic Garden

Needless to say we slept solid that night 😴 and are definitely functioning in Aus time 😁

Decided to go on a small holiday to suprise visit our family in Australia. But first spent a day in Qatar exploring. We opted to go with a 19hour layover which meant we had a complimentary stay at the Oryx Garden Hotel inside the airport. We headed off to immigration to get a day visa and rode the train into town to see the Souq Wakif, Doha-Qatar. Then went on a Desert Safari to take a camel ride, dune bashing, dune boarding, and a sunset trip down on the "beach". Man this was a truly awesome experience and something I would recommend to anyone traveling to do this at least once. We got back to the airport had something to eat, and got plenty snacks with the meal vouchers we received from the hotel. I will link my tour guide in the comments. Please check him out, he is knowledgeable about all the local facts and is a proper laugh to be around. The heat was truly something else. But we managed 🀣 I'll start posting about our time here in Perth from tomorrow 😁 be safe and enjoy your time with family everyone.

After a few days of trekking, our dearest Laken has finally started to see Mt Everest. For those that don't know, she is the more "active" member of our questionable family, and is on a mission to the Mt Everest Base Camp. Today is also her birthday πŸŽ‚ πŸ₯³

So to our Laken, we just want to say that we are proud of you, and the journey you are on. We miss you greatly and hope you are having a blessed birthday in the real mountains ⛰️ Stay safe on the trail and don't get lost 🀣
