OKAY! This is sooo EXCITING! I mean… How you are keen to get primo healthy! You’re fed up with maybe being a part of the following Heart Foundation stats—35% of women between the ages of 55 and 74 are unhealthily overweight and 45% of men between the ages of 55 and 74 are unhealthily overweight. Skipping the ‘vanity stuff’ – what’s more frightening is being a part of those stats puts you in danger of heart attack or stroke. I’m a retired acute care speech pathologist and believe me, the journey through rehab whether physical and/or communication, is a long, LONG… irritatingly LONG process (like 18 to even 36+ months). That’s a long time to NOT be able to use both your hands… To not be able to walk without significant assistances… To not be able to speak clear and coherently.
You will see the following Statement included in all future ‘Joey’s Ever Fit’ Posts: “I, Joey or Joanne Galliher am sharing fitness ideas as a ‘friend’… My Fitness Trainer and Personal Trainer qualifications expired in 2009.”
If you peruse any fitness magazines you’ll quickly discover that fitness trends change as quickly as we change our socks. The fitness industry keeps finding more and more facts and techniques almost overnight. BUT what I offer are tips that really worked for my fitness class ladies and men (ages 25 – 80) from 2000 – 2009. And believe me, me from 49 to 58 running 5 back-to-back fitness classes a day more than kept me fit. Also, the tips are why I am still 110 lbs at 67—which was my weight at 18. And, no I am not genetically predisposed to be slender. My parents and sister fought tooth and nail, all their lives to NOT be ‘too overweight.’
PLEASE share any tips you come across!! The more successful tips the faster everyone will get to their primo healthiest.
How about we start with a ‘list of kinda, the most tried and true successful to-dos and to-not-dos?’
1. To lose weight (to burn fat), you need to eat 6 small meals a day—not 1… not 3…. There are lots of explanations about ‘Metabolism’ but here’s the simplest one—Metabolism must be effectively operating if you have a hope of burning fat … of losing weight. Every time we eat, we digest… stuff gets broken down and sent to body cells. That last sentence is ‘Metabolism’ in a nutshell… is KEY to burning fat or to losing weight. Without an effective metabolism there’s no hope in heck of losing weight… no matter how much you exercise… No matter how moderate you eat. How can you do this? Basically, you take your 3 meals and split them into 6… Like… scrambled eggs, bacon and toast (scrap half off the plate and store in the fridge to be eaten at ‘Morning Break’ or 3 hours later). A sandwich, fruit and even some sweets for your lunch—again, take half of it and store in fridge to eat 3 hours later at another Break Time. A steak, potatoes and veggies – first scrape half off the plate and store in the fridge to eat 2-3 hours later. BUT what’s normally the big meal you eat at 5 or 6 or 7 pm should be eaten no later than 3pm… with the 2nd half eaten no later than 5pm… See? It is so easy! You don’t have to weigh or measure anything! Doing that makes losing weight such a chore! And, on weekends, of course enjoy delicious breakfasts with ‘the works’—hash browns, sausage or bacon etc and eggs and toast—BUT, about HALF the serve as you may have had in the past.
2. To lose weight DO NOT EAT fat-free ANYTHING! …they are so lacking in flavor! So, people tend to eat too much of low fat or fat-free cheeses, yogurts, desserts, ice creams, etc.
There are 8 more dos and/or do nots…Look for them over the next few days! AFTER THAT THERE WILL BE RESEARCHED SHORT ARTICLES all to give you oodles of tips!
