Belka the beagle
I'm Belka! A tri-colour pedigree beagle boy born 20th February 2016 and living in Hertfordshire. Follow my adventures as I grow up #belkathebeagle
Chilling with mummy in the garden but she keeps jumping up because of spiders. I’d rather she just stayed sat with me on her lap. So to save me from the rocking every time she jumps up, any tried and tested top tips to keep the spiders away? (7years)
Mummy has recently got in to upcycling furniture. Everything you see in these photos she got for free either from Facebook Marketplace or from Freecycle. The dining table, chairs and today the blue coffee table which she just can’t wait to sand and paint. She’s a firm believer that one persons junk is another person’s treasure. And I love to keep her company while she paints as it’s usually when little one is at nursery school and daddy is working. Sometimes, rather unhelpfully according to mum, I’ll lay right in the way of where she’s painting or where I’m at risk of being painted myself! And don’t mention beagle glitter (fur/hair) to her as she’ll complain that just like actual glitter, it has a knack for getting everywhere! Mum has used Matt Furniture & Trim Paint by Rustoleum in Natural Charcoal (Black) to paint all of the furniture she’s upcycled (7years)
*NOT my birthday* but little one loves to pretend that it is almost daily. She presents me with cake I can’t eat and makes me stay while she sings to me. I’m a little disappointed in the lack of presents 😆 (7years)
I love exploring with my little hooman. She’s a bit slow but that gives me plenty of time to sniff all that there is to sniff. Like this fallen tree today. Why do you think it fell? Little one is full of the why questions. Like “why do dogs have paws?” And “why do dogs run fast?” (7years)
After the storm comes the rainbow ☂️☂️☂️ (7years)
This is me with my cousin Lacey. She’s a black lab! I’ve just found out I maybe getting another black lab cousin! A little puppy I can teach all of my beagly ways to 😈 (7years)
We have a group chat for our street and this morning one of our neighbours messaged to say they’d tried and failed to upcycle this ikea chair. It was going to the tip unless anyone wanted it. Mummy said yes please, has spent all morning in the garden in the sunshine sanding, priming and painting and voila! We have a new chair in the spot mummy wanted a chair! (7years)
This evening Snoopy and his hoomans came for dinner. We played a little but then this is where we got to. Sharing my bed with my best bud. The hoomans seemed to love it so at least we did something right (7years)
Yesterday was my birthday. I was 7! Mum took me to the vets to get a weight checkup. I weigh 15.5kg! I’ve lost weight since the last time I was weighed over a year ago. Probably because little one drops less food for me now than she used to. But the vet was very happy that I look and feel healthy. Mummy and little one made me some homemade pup cakes and sang happy birthday. I felt very special 🎂🥳 (7years)
Bella beagle and her hoomans came for dinner tonight. In a few weeks well both be 7 years old which is about 49 in human years I believe. And just like a typical 49 year old human, we slept most of the evening 😉 (6.5years)
As little one grows bigger, I’m glad she’s able to have moments of calm. This morning we have had snuggles on the sofa and I am loving the cuddles with my little human sister. Now if only I could get her to stop teasing me when she has food, I’d be on to a winner. (6.5years)
Little one is in her big girl bed for the first time tonight after a week sleeping on her mattress on the floor. Mummy and daddy said if she did good sleeping all week, daddy would turn her cot in to a bed on the weekend. She’s done so well but I’ve already slept in this bed more than her after curling up for a snooze whilst she was in the bath. Wish us luck tonight! (The pillows on the floor are to soften the inevitable rolling out of bed) (6years)
Make mine a puppaccino ☕️ (6years)
After walkies with my girlfriend Bella beagle, we stopped off at this dog friendly cafe and they did - I’d never had one but woofed it down in no time at all 😋 (6years)
Dad is at work, little one is at nursery and mum is in the bedroom, listing various bits and bobs on Facebook marketplace. So this is where you’ll find me, keeping her company and having a little snooze 😴 (6years)
Yesterday I spent the afternoon with my buddy at his beautiful new home. We played a little and then chilled, but not before I stole little ones donut that Snoopys mum had bought for her. I’m going with it was hot but mum says we’re getting old now. Never too old to steal candy from a baby though. (6years)
There once was a time when a beagle could curl up, stretch out, whatever he wanted to do, in peace. Now I have a little one clambering in to bed with me, arms and legs flailing in unpredictable fashion. If I lay on the sofa she’ll pull the cushion I’m using as a pillow out from under my head. Hmm. Little ones. I look forward to curling up on her lap when she lets me (6years)
They say never work with children or animals. Well, maybe I’m a little out of practice but I’d do anything for a treat and pretty sure little one would do almost anything for chocolate. That is of course if she’s not shouting her current favourite word (NO!) as loudly as she can, sometimes it would seem for reasons no-one could guess. Mum says she only wanted a nice photo of the two of us for the family album but that neither of us would look at the camera at the same time. Maybe mums photography skills need a little practice? (6years)
We spent the weekend with nana and granddad at the beach. I felt like I was on holiday abroad with my humans it was glorious. My little sister loved the sand, so much in fact that she ate some 🤨. Hope you’ve had a pawsome Easter (6years)

Late last year we moved home. We moved to a completely new town and to a new county. I got a bigger garden to run around in and mum and dad got a never ending to do list of home improvements. The top priority on that list was a new front door and a new back door. The front door had a cat flap and although mum misses coming home to my head poking out through it, she doesn’t miss little one being able to post toys through it or open it from the inside because we couldn’t lock it from the inside! But the back door is mummy’s favourite. It’s a barn style door that either opens fully or half opens on the top. Plus we have the added peace of mind that no one else has a spare key! Oh, and no more draughty breeze coming through. Next on our to do list is the windows which hopefully will be installed in July, also anthracite grey to match the doors. Then it’ll be painting the exterior of the house. 🏡
