Mitákuyepi (“my relatives” is a traditional greeting in the Lakota language) - thank you for following my journey. For those of you that are new, a few things about me. I am Oglála Lakóta, my Lakota name is waŋblí šiná wíŋyaŋ (eagle shawl woman), I am a čhekpa (a twin) and the mother of two sons. I grew up on Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota without parents, but with an amazing extended family. Without them, I don’t know where I would be. While we were poor, we were rich in love and culture. I learned how to live Lakóta laws by observing my family and community leaders. As I followed the path Tȟuŋkášila (the Creator) laid out for me, I realized not everyone has been fortunate enough to grow up living a spiritually grounded life. As a mother, I saw that I had to pass on these teachings to my sons. As a professional, I encountered so much ignorance, bias and discrimination. Many times, people wanted to understand, but didn’t want to take the time. I’ve given many of the same speeches over and over. I feel like Native people are often treading water because we have to spend so much time teaching, rather than being able to move to the next level. This is why I wanted to write the book “Warrior Princesses Strike Back: How Lakota Twins Fight Oppression and Heal through Connectedness”. My experiences, while so many are heart breaking, these are the experiences of so many Indigenous people. My accomplishments, came by following my intuition and having faith even when I had no idea where that path would lead me. These are the lessons we feel compelled to share. Not only so we can all heal, but so we can all rise.
Our book is officially being published on January 24th! Buy the book now .

So true for me!!
Impunity has long been the norm for serious abuses committed by Israeli forces against Palestinians.
Less than 1% of complaints filed by Palestinians in the West Bank between 2017 and 2021 led to indictments, per Yesh Din ييش دين יש דין.
All of this underscores the urgency of the International Criminal Court's probe into serious crimes committed in Palestine.
