SYLVIA SMITH-SPYRES OBITUARY

Sylvia Smith-Spyres, 64, of Williams, passed away peacefully July 11, 2022 surrounded by family.

Raised by a single mother living in Arbuckle, Sylvia (at 13) took on responsibility at a young age to help raise 4 of her younger siblings. Her family would labor in the tomato fields together during harvest to pay expenses and her strong work ethic and independent nature earned her much success later in life. Although Sylvia experienced great adversity losing close friends, both parents, an older brother and 3 of her younger siblings, her strength, faith and positive attitude helped her endure and overcome hardship.

Throughout her life, Sylvia's joyful, fun-loving attitude and her adventurous spirit brought her many enduring friendships and created vibrant memories for our family and community. We honor her passing into Heaven, cherish our precious memories together and carry her essence in our hearts so it may live on. We love you always Sylvia!

Sylvia was preceded in death by her parents Gloria Madrid and Wayne Smith and siblings Tony Gonzales, Marianne Medina, Martin Serrano Jr. and Ramona Leffert. She is survived by husband Richard Spyres, children Jason and Brenda Spyres, Simon Spyres, Justin and Renee Spyres, 5 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and sister Susan Smith-Martinez.

We are grateful to UC Davis Medical Center for their compassionate care and allowing all family and friends to see her in the final moments. If desired, friends may make memorial contributions to Karen's House, P.O. Box 1596, Williams, CA 95987.

Sauced will be closed for afew weeks on vacation, enjoy your summer and we will see you soon!
