The diffrence between a 1.5mm strip and a 1mm strip.

So much more delicate, there isn't stacking happening at the back of the petal and it's got a generally better shape!
I still can't find precut strips in the right colour so I'm cutting them all myself 😅 🙃

All my following work will be using 1mm strips, these new little forgetme nots (the rest are out of camera frame) are for Hedgepigs and Hoglets Rescue but more will be avalible soon 🤗

Sending some little forget me nots to these guys, anyone know anyone else able to donate?

🦔 If you are a maker and would like to donate an item or two of your work to our hedgehog and small mammal rescue charity we would be delighted and very grateful. Our stall is growing bare and our funds are too with the er****on of our new building!!🐀

Thank you # # #

I like to know the "why" to things.. for those like me here's your curiosity fill 🤗

Why is it called quilling?

The name “quilling” comes from the word “quill,” referring to the hollow, pointed end of a bird’s feather, usually from a goose. In the early days, artisans used these quills to roll and shape strips of paper. The fine, sharp tip of the feather made it easy to create intricate and delicate designs.

Where Did Quilling Originate?

The exact origins of quilling are unclear, as there is no detailed documentation on how this art form began. It is widely believed that quilling started after the invention of paper in China during the Eastern Han period (25-220 CE). The spread of paper-making techniques likely facilitated the development of paper crafts like quilling. Another theory suggests that quilling may have originated in ancient Egypt, where thin strips of precious metals were used to create similar decorative designs, likley influencing later paper-based quilling techniques.

If you see something you fancy but it's already sold, give me a message for a similar duplicate. This is not at a commission cost, just the standard price for the frame/dome/globe size :)

Right, that's me done with photos for tonight, I need to sit down 😅. I'll get photos of the frames soon, sun permitting.
