Iโve been working fully remotely and getting into a good groove with my midday meals! ๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ป๐ฒ Here I am enjoying a chicken bagel sandwich with a side of my own hair ๐
The focus for me is the three Fโs!! (Jk I literally just made this up but it makes sense to me!! ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ)
FUN - what is more fun than a bagel??? But actually. I am focusing on eating foods that I am genuinely excited to eat, rather than just checking boxes for macros. ๐ฅณ
FILLING - Iโve been hitting big bowls of veggie soup with a side of sourdough and cheddar cheese, things like this that leave me feeling really satisfied. Lots of fibre and volume makes it filling and also makes the whole eating experience last longer and Iโm here for that ๐ฅน
FULL OF PROTEIN - precooked chicken breast is what I have found easiest for lunch lately, so thatโs either going into my sandwich, onto a salad or into a hot vegetable soup. But there are so many great sources of protein you can keep in stock like high quality canned fish, boiled eggs, tofu/tempeh etc etc ETC!

This busy woman workday lunch is going directly into rotation ๐๐๐ช With almost โจ40g of proteinโจ ample amounts of spinach and salty deliciousness it is not only nourishing but ๐ซฆSATISFYING๐ซฆ too. Feel free to swap chicken for plant based protein. Here is the recipe for two portions.
๐ฟ 1 bag pan fry spinach gnocchi
๐ฟ 170g cooked chicken breast
๐ฟ 1 bag of spinach (she wilts)
๐ฟ 1 tbsp EVOO
๐ฟ 2 tbsp grated parm
๐ฟ salt and pepp
๐ฟ squeeze of lemon ๐ (imperative imho)
WOULD THIS BE GOOD WITH PESTO??? Absolutely. You should try that!
Method: literally fry up the gnocchi, add spinach til it wilts, add cooked chicken at the last minute, so that it doesnโt get dry but gets nice and warm. Bowl it. Parm it. Season and lemon it. Enjoy!!!!

Itโs a new dawn, itโs a new day โจ Itโs also a new week and moving forward from last week how much have we learned? How much have we (white people) learned that we still need to learn and unlearn? I think we can buy all the books, donate all the money, watch all the documentaries. But until we look inward and ask ourselves uncomfortable questions about our whiteness, and really make ourselves accountable for the ways that we contribute to and benefit from racism, and ask how we can act to truly make a change, the rest is still peppered with white supremacy and silent forms of racism. I have been passive and silent, I have used the veil of โinnocenceโ to get away with not discussing these issues and to keep others feeling comfortable. i have even been too afraid to speak up to racist jokes that i have heard in passing, while intersectional analysis and anti-racism is what I studied in university. I should have been better. But I vow to be better now. Yoga canโt exist without anti-racism and intersectionality. Feminism canโt exist without anti-racism and intersectionality. I am glad so many of us are waking up and learning how to speak about this - the fear and nervousness to fumble around this topic with new language is a perfect example of work that we must do. This has reminded me to really examine my position as a white yoga teacher who fits the description of the majority of teachers of an ancient Indian practice. It has reminded me to go forward responsibly and respectfully, and do the work to become the best ally I can be. This conversation will continue, I promise ๐ธ Black Lives Matter. artwork by
