Rejoice!
Happy Gaudete week my friends. There is no greater way to celebrate the church seasons than praying the mass and receiving Jesus in the Eucharist.
I am sharing some long-held thoughts on this matter below, and would love for you to read and share!

Pleased as church punch today.
Thankful and humbled that the music program at St. Patrick’s Church programmed one of my settings of the “Ave Maria” today to celebrate Gaudete Sunday and the feast of our Lady of Guadalupe.
As a composer, the greatest joy and fulfillment of writing sacred music is to use it in the liturgy. What an honor.

The church seasons are a wonderful opportunity to experience beautiful liturgy. No matter the tradition you connect with the most, we can all agree that the mass should be beautiful.

Dear friends, I have something to share with you…
For the past six months, I have been organizing many of my thoughts and long-held beliefs regarding mass and sacred liturgy. I have worked in sacred music over half of my life, and have enjoyed the privilege of celebrating, collaborating, worshiping, and composing with many wonderful people. I have been a kiln of incubated ideas and observations, and on July 16th 2021 (after the release of the Motu Proprio Traditionis Custodes), I felt deeply moved to offer some of these observations to you.
I seldom post my opinions on any highly visible social platform. Further, I’m no “voice crying out in the wilderness” (happy second Sunday in Advent btw). After years of experience, countless debates with people I trust, advice and counsel from my various directors, spiritual mentors, and priests, I feel confident in my stance and hope that this inspires healthy conversation and appropriate action.
