Despite our circumstances God is still in control.
It is such a great blessing in the morning to know that it is because of Your mercy that we are not consumed. You share that promise with us every day. Lamentations 3:23 “The Lord’s mercies are new every morning , great is Your faithfulness."
Through it all we learn to trust in Jesus and we learn to trust in God and depend on His word.
God's has us all in the palm of his hand and what better place to be.

Grateful Heart Wednesday!

August is the “last” full month of summer, a time when families shift from vacation mode to school mode. College students leave home again creating empty nests. Snowbirds may be making their plans to pack up and head south in another month or two.
These preparations can bring feelings of sadness and even depression to some. The last vacation for the year is over. The evenings are getting colder. Parents and children focus on what’s coming – alarm clocks, crisp mornings and falling leaves. They worry about new projects, teachers and obligations. During this time, it can be very difficult to focus on the present, forgetting that the present can be an ideal place to live.
Below are eight tips on how to live in the moment, and not let the to-do lists or the changing seasons cause dread or defeat.

Stop and smell the roses. This is another way of saying notice your surroundings. Look around and see what’s around you ‑ tall buildings, a coffee cup, cracks in the sidewalk and yes, even the flowers that may be shedding their last blooms.

Limit multitasking. Try to focus on one task at a time, giving it all your attention. When you multitask, you are not fully engaged. You can become overwhelmed and make mistakes.

Be grateful. Appreciate what you have and practice by writing down three things you are thankful for each day. This is a great exercise before bed or first thing in the morning.

Meditate. A daily meditation practice allows you to become more aware of your thoughts and emotions, allowing you to spend more time in the present. Over time, meditating on a routine basis brings calm and focus to your present state.

Deep breathing exercises. Being aware of your breath instantly brings you into the present moment. Taking slow, methodical breaths engages you, alleviates stress and gives you control of that moment.

Exercise. Physical activity, such as yoga, helps your mind stay focused on the poses and movements you are doing and not the chatter in your head.

Socialize. Spending time with friends and family, particularly ones who bring you joy and positivity, is a great way to live in the present moment, allowing you to focus on conversations and your surroundings.

Put the phone down. Checking social media, emails and other online temptations, distracts you from what is going on around you. Try to take technology breaks especially when around other people.

Living in the moment does take effort but incorporating some or all of these ways into your daily routine can help you stop dwelling on the past or worrying about the future, thereby bringing you into a happy and healthy present state.

Pastor Fossett, on this day, your 1 year Anniversary, we are thankful that God led you to BUMC #80. We realize that God's timing is all that ever really matters!

Titus 1:8 Rather he must be hospitable one who loves what is good, who is self controlled, upright, holy and disciplined.

Galatians 6:6 Neverless, the one who receives instruction in the word should share all good things with their instructor.

1Timothy 2:1-2 I urge then first of all their petitions, prayers, intercession, and Thanksgiving be made for all ppl- for kings & all those in authority, that we may live peaceful & quiet lives in all godliness and holiness

We the members here @ BUMC #80 are being led, fed, and adjusted to live our lives through the goodness of God. Pastor Fossett- you lead us through the Holy Scripture, God's Word. And through study we are reminded & made aware of exactly how our lives as Christians & believers in Christ should be lived. Pastor Fossett- you feed us the weekly study of the Word, the study of the disciplines of church matters, meetings and expectations - this not only grows us individually but as a whole to continue to spread God's love and sustain us for our own growth in the Lord. Lastly, Pastor Fossett- you adjust us through your example, sermons, Bible studies and our fellowship - that although we may stumble, trip and fall down sometimes but to know that when we repent for our sins and shortcomings to God- He Forgives!

So, Pastor as we celebrate you today, may God continue to bless, keep, and guide you. And may you continue to feed, lead, and adjust us- in the name of Jesus! Amen!

Sincerely and with thanks,
The Officers and Members of Buckeystown UMC #80.

Grateful Heart Wednesday #1

(Devoted Women of Buckeystown UMC #80 is with Hopehill Women of Hope)

Good Morning beautiful ladies! Let us begin our day with a grateful heart! Take an hour for yourself and devote it in prayer with the Lord. In the process move your body with some type of physical movement whether it's walking in place, around your basement or in your yard or engage in a little praise and worship and dance like nobody's watching.
Our scripture for today is Psalm 118:24, this is a day the Lord has made we will rejoice and be glad in it.
So here's a little food for thought. I want you to think about your current conversations with God and find one word that describes it. It could be consistent, it could be inconsistent, it could be sporadic. During this hour take this quiet time for spiritual and mental renewal.
Below are 7 Keys to unlock change:
1. Prayer is the key to conversation with the creator of the universe.
2. Prayer unlocks our intimacy with God and we should want more of it.
3. Prayer requires confidence in God which builds our trust.
4. Prayer requires consistent discipline for us to give our time to the Father.
5. Prayer is more than a practice it should be a lifestyle.
6. Prayer is to be a priority as an ongoing conversation with the creator.
7. Prayer is as important as breathing and we should think of it as a crucial part of our living.

Now your call to action will be:
As you meditate in prayer meditate on things with thanksgiving and praise. Meditate on things that may call for repentance.
Meditate on your request or petitions made to the Father. Meditate on things that you need to surrender to Him, let Jesus take the wheel. Meditate on how you can better communicate with God

I lift each of you up in prayer. I encourage each ou you to plug into the power of prayer so you can find your purpose that can only be found in God's presence.

Have an awesome day.
Sis. Angela
