New guitar! Maya is a 1982 Gibson Sonex 180 Deluxe. Buttery neck, grindy lovely tone, maybe the loudest guitar I own. My Mesa is on volume setting 1 here, just messing around in the rehearsal space. She’s heavy, but so is my music and my general vibe. She fits right in. So grateful, so moved, and I’ve already written 2 songs with her. We’re off to a beautiful start. MASS tour hits Transplants in Palmdale CA tonight, 11/11! Long Beach ripped! Huge thanks to all who came out, and to Paul Chesne for the vid!While the majority of the current set is songs from MASS, we’re playing a select few from other releases, including AND IF MY BODY, from RELEASE THE REST. This song is more relevant than I’d like it to be & still holds my disdain for the casual apathy that surrounded the loss of Roe, including statements about being glad to not live in red states. We all lost Roe. All. Also, I’m not sure empathy looks like being glad things aren’t happening to you directly. And I’m not sure it looks like hoping other women will do the labor you expect. I’m not sure about that at all. I’ve been working on my recent ideas about the Empathy Problem, but for now I’ll say that it still feels great to play this riff and scream these words.
