A FEW TAKEAWAYS OF MY OWN, FROM TIME SPENT WITH HORSES ... ๐ I think one of the most important lessons horses have taught me is how to SLOW DOWN... and see! It's not just about me or my agenda. When it comes to our relationship, its always been about the COMMUNICATION between us being clear, respectful, honest and fair. To have true harmony in our PARTNERSHIP we both have our own responsibilities to uphold, ... no one more, than the other. My PATIENCE and FOCUS has improved drastically. I've learned to increase my ability to LIVE MINDFULLY and allow life to unfold as it may. The practice of letting 'stuff' go and pass through me, without worry of those things I have no control over has become a true gift. Sharing time and space calmly with RESPECT and UNDERSTANDING that we are all individuals striving for many of the same things in life, has humbled me more than anything else ever could. Lastly, while I continue on my learning journey, I'm having way more FUN 'just being me' ...with all of my human imperfections! *** How can I not bring these lessons I've learned through horses, back into my real world? It's not possible, it just follows me quite naturally! *** If this sounds like something you'd like to experience and or learn more about, please visit and contact us through our website www.sierrahacres.com SPRING, YOUTH AND ADULT SESSIONS ARE OPENING SOON FOR REGISTRATION! ๐ด๐ด๐ด
IN THE RAW - ONE FINE SPRING DAY!! ๐ด๐ด๐ด This is where the term "horse play" comes from! ๐Horses are often seen calm and relaxed.. but did you know that they are social creatures too and LOVE to play! โค๏ธ They often are found playing games, while competing for the role of head of the herd. Watch this little video from beginning to end and let us know who you believe the leader of this little herd of 3 is ... and why? FROM THE HORSES MOUTH! ๐ฅฐ ๐๐ด๐ถโโ๏ธ Enjoy this Q and A - a mini interview, I had the pleasure of conducting. This is Jacob ...at his recent client session here at Sierrah Acres - I couldn't have answered better myself! ๐คฉ๐ด๐ www.sierrahacres.com
Remembering to PAUSE! ๐ด A horse will teach us how to slowww down in the most profound ways and without judgement, if we are open to listening to them. Once our thoughts and actions become TRULY in line, .. all else will fall into place! AWESOME job!! Nearing the end to our summer series of sessions for clients and with heart felt celebration๐ฅฐ.. And then, it's full steam ahead welcoming the beauty of Fall! ๐
When feeling stressed, anxious or overwhelmed, ๐ญ.. it's critical that the elevator of our minds return to the 1st floor, before we can move forward productively. โฎ๏ธ Watch this video closely... In comparison ..when it comes to horses, who live their lives in 'the now' and actually quite hyper vigilantly, they can learn to overcome their fear, through trust, training (meaning practice), as well as building confidence with new experiences. See the horse's body language change from high alert (feeling threatened), to eventually .. "Okay, I've got this" (control of my emotions). It is ONLY then, that they can return to being able to think clearly again, ..feel peaceful, calm and progressive. COMMUNICATION IS EVERYTHING! To a horse, ๐ด if the talk is not honest, clear and congruent, they just don't get it! ๐ซค Sounds simple enough right.. try it out in your conversations today www.sierrahacres.com. ๐ฃ
JUST FOR INTEREST SAKE ๐ VETERINARIAN MEDICINE AT ITS FINEST! In my next life.. becoming a large animal vet would be high on my career passion list! ๐ Patches watches on as curious as ever, not realizing he's next in line to have his yearly dental maintenance done. Gotta love it! ๐ด
LET'S PLAY BALL!! ๐ Not all horses like to play as much as Patches does!๐ด Just as we as humans are, horses have different characters, moods, likes and dislikes. The difference though, is that they are always super comfortable being who they are. What they think, say and do are always on the same page ๐ (the only way to fly ๐) www.sierrahacres.com
PUTTING THE RELATIONSHIP FIRST! ๐ฅ๐ด Turning a simple grooming exercise into SO much more!! With practice, what have I learned from our equine assisted learning horses ? More importantly what's trickled into my real world : - To invite my idea to be a part of yours, to breathe and be patient, to create a true connection firstly, to allow for some processing for both of us, to suggest respectfully, to trust, to partner together, ... AND for both of us to truly understand, what it means to be 100% responsible, for our half of the relationship. This to me spells 'harmony'. This Sierrah Acres equine assisted personal development exercise, reminds me a little of the quote by Adam Grant - " I'm not here to prove myself,.... I'm here to improve myself" Learn more about us at : www.sierrahacres.com ๐ด

MY SPACE - YOUR SPACE ๐ฅ (part 1) One of the last activities experienced together as a peer group took place near the end of our Youth Summer Program - 'Be YOU Bravely'. Establishing strong boundaries and developing a (balanced) assertiveness was the focus. It really amazed me to watch this young group with all it's individuality come together and well โฆ.. just figure things out! In the next post, weโve explained a little more about what the initial ask (and rules) were. ๐ www.sierrahacres.com ๐ด
