"Once the Moon has been made steady, the Sun can be made to rise" - The Gheranda Samitha
Hatha yoga aims to harmonise the dualities found in our very existence. When we break down the word Hatha, Ha means Sun and Tha means Moon. The Moon refers to our mind, the foundation of our yoga practice that we work to stabilise and purify first. Only once we have a steady and calm mind can we then can start to focus on building our energy/Prana, which is what Sun refers to. If we go into a pranically charged practice with an unsteady mind, then whatever mental and emotional imbalances we bring onto the mat will only be further amplified and we will remain out of balance and scattered. Prana is like the Sun in that it does not discriminate as to where it shines its light.... everything gets highlighted, whether positive or negative.
And so with a steady mind we enter Sun. In this practice we build our sensitivity to Prana, the sacred life force that animates all and sustains all, and in doing so we increase our vitality, passion and power. It allows us to touch in on and explore the subtler aspects of our being and gifts us with a safe way to build and manage our energy. We are pulsing vessels of energy but we often leak our energy through unconscious thinking and doing. This practice will teach you how to stay charged up in a mindful way...because just as awareness without energy is useless, energy without awareness is dangerous (just take the corrupt leaders of this world as a clear example of the latter!).
The practice is dynamic and energising, with a focus on backbend and lateral postures that seek to enliven and expand on all levels. We'll work with longer inhalations with retentions and introduce deeper Bandha work (subtle energy locks) to help contain and move energy. There will be pranayama and meditation at the end to humbly turn up the voltage and connect us to our inner reservoir of infinite radiance and joy β¨βοΈπ
New online Yin yoga class every Tuesday 6:30- 7:30pm, starting tomorrow!
Yin is the perfect complement to a busy, stressed out mind as it creates the balance we need to slow down and nurture our internal environment. It primarily works the connective tissue in our body, opening the joints and increasing flexibility. Poses are held for 3-5 minutes to not only shift and release stagnant energy which helps to free stuck emotions and bring about mental spaciousness, but to also allow us to become aware of the ever spinning nature of the mind so that we can start to develop a sense of freedom from our often limiting thoughts.
This is a deep, slow and grounding practice, complemented with calming pranayama (controlled breathing) to help seal in the those soothing lunar vibes β¨π§ββοΈ

Whatever elevated message/lesson we are seeing as our current circumstances having come here to teach us is not entirely accurate. We were ALWAYS supposed to learn that lesson. We were supposed to learn that lesson BEFORE the pandemic ever arrived.
Prior to the pandemic, we were ALWAYS supposed to practice Self-discovery. We were ALWAYS supposed to think and care about climate change, our environment, unity, inclusivity, etc.
The lesson of Self-discovery, adaptability, resilience, etc. is not a new one; only the circumstances around learning those lessons are new.
How are you choosing to respond to that eternal call for greater Self-discovery?

Hey yogis! Excited to be offering an online zoom yoga class weekly starting from next Thursday 14th May at 6pm. The focus of a Moon class is to calm, stabilise and ground the often busy and wayward nature of the mind. The ancient texts of yoga state that both mental and physical stability is fundamental if we are to access any kind of long lasting peace and happiness. Sadly modern day yoga tends to prioritise just the physical body as the focal point of practice, but ultimately we will continue to be tossed and thrown around by life if we are not able to get steady and anchor ourselves in our innate nature of calm steadiness, regardless of whether our hamstrings are open or not.
With these classes you are offered the opportunity to step into the role of the observer, to be the embodiment of calm amidst the ever changing winds of life. The breath is the greatest tool we will use to achieve mental calm and clarity. There will be asanas (physical postures), pranayama (controlled breathing) and meditation. Classes are 75mins for a small investment of Β£5 via: paypal.me/innergise

Message from White Eagle, Hopi indigenous on 03/16/2020:
βThis moment humanity is going through can now be seen as a portal and as a hole. The decision to fall into the hole or go through the portal is up to you. If they repent of the problem and consume the news 24 hours a day, with little energy, nervous all the time, with pessimism, they will fall into the hole. But if you take this opportunity to look at yourself, rethink life and death, take care of yourself and others, you will cross the portal. Take care of your home, take care of your body. Connect with the middle body of your spiritual House. Connect to the egregor of your spiritual home. Body, house, medium body, spiritual house, all this is synonymous, that is to say the same. When you are taking care of one, you are taking care of everything else. Do not lose the spiritual dimension of this crisis, have the aspect of the eagle, which from above, sees the whole, sees more widely. There is a social demand in this crisis, but there is also a spiritual demand. The two go hand in hand. Without the social dimension, we fall into fanaticism. But without the spiritual dimension, we fall into pessimism and lack of meaning. You were prepared to go through this crisis. Take your toolbox and use all the tools at your disposal. Learn about resistance with indigenous and African peoples: we have always been and continue to be exterminated. But we still haven't stopped singing, dancing, lighting a fire and having fun. Don't feel guilty about being happy during this difficult time. You don't help at all by being sad and without energy. It helps if good things emanate from the Universe now. It is through joy that one resists. Also, when the storm passes, you will be very important in the reconstruction of this new world. You need to be well and strong. And, for that, there is no other way than to maintain a beautiful, happy and bright vibration. This has nothing to do with alienation. This is a resistance strategy. In shamanism, there is a rite of passage called the quest for vision. You spend a few days alone in the forest, without water, without food, without protection. When you go through this portal, you get a new vision of the world, because you have faced your fears, your difficulties ... This is what is asked of you. Let them take advantage of this time to perform their vision seeking rituals. What world do you want to build for yourself? For now, this is what you can do: serenity in the storm. Calm down and pray. Everyday. Establish a routine to meet the sacred every day. Good things emanate, what you emanate now is the most important thing. And sing, dance, resist through art, joy, faith and love." Resiste -Renace

Preach it Dr Joe β€οΈ Fear is synonymous to a suppressed immune system. How much fear have you taken on over the last few months and allowed to control your actions, your mood and your health? In yoga, the mind is a powerful tool for self awakening when stable, but in times of mass fear we so easily offer up our stability and become enslaved by irrational perceptions. In doing so we suffer, we become a victim of our circumstances and environment, we become sick, we feel powerless. If we can stabilise the mind, great inner joy, stability and health can arise regardless of what is happening in our external world. Practice yoga to steady the mind and purify it of the negative tendencies that keep you contracted during these testing times. Use practice to release fear and trust in your body's innate capacity to protect and heal itself. It is completely possible to heal through positive thinking, intention and belief....we can even supercharge the collective's capacity to heal by wishing genuine wellness not only for ourselves but to *all* other beings in this world.
If you are having a hard time, ask yourself 'How can what I'm going through be conducive to my awakening?' Obstacles like this are key to our evolution.... the Universe is always gifting us with opportunities to become more transparent and refined, to bring awareness to the ways in which we self sabotage and dim our innate light. With an open heart, embrace the totality of existence as it is (both the perceived good and bad) to help bring you back into wholeness.
Be both stable and luminous, be the love that will lift others in these challenging times.
Om Shanti x
So here I am. Hot and sweaty. 1 week into a Ta***ic Hatha yoga training half way across the world in Bali. And I have learned more in this week about yoga, life and the universe than I have anywhere else! Already I feel the potent teachings of this ancient, undiluted practice illuminating my inner world, leaving me with such a sweet taste of Soul's nectar. Abstract as that may sound, to touch the subtle aspects of our Being is hard to verbalise. To feel with such certainty that we are divinely greater than body and mind is so powerfully freeing. Because true freedom is not geographical or financial or attached to any worldly gains...it is to lovingly rest in Spirit without any judgement of ourselves or others, in full acceptance of life unfolding as it is. This is the lifelong work of Yoga.
In recent years I have been undergoing a huge excavation and questioning of my beliefs, purpose and understanding of existence, where yoga has been my ultimate companion. Through the clear lens of yoga, life is meticulously dissected, purpose revealed and the veil of ignorance, illusion and fear is gradually pierced. It is such a gentle unlearning and remembrance of Spirit, that is supported by the unrelenting desire to know your true Self. When we honestly and bravely look at our 'stuff', we start to notice the heavy burden of clothing that's been draped over our Truth since we were little...the clothing we so tightly cling to in an attempt to fit in and be somebody. The labels we hide behind. The names we disappear into. The past trauma we become. Through the beauty of Ta**ra we learn to disidentify with these aspects of ourselves and begin to connect to the real, unchanging presence that is there coursing within us always, no matter what our circumstances. That steady stream of calm despite the chaos. We learn how to thrive in this crazy, ever changing world, loving the most undesirable parts of ourself back into wholeness. Looking upon everything with the compassionate eyes of the Observer. Knowing that true strength and beauty lies in embracing our raw, seemingly imperfect human nature, rather than denying it.
What a blessing it is is to be led onto this path and to have found the most genuine and inspiring teachers to help light up the way! Thank you for already making this such a deeply profound experience πβ₯οΈπ
"Gratitude is the birthplace of happiness and fulfilment"π
This time of year tends to bring up a lot of body shaming from within us. I know this world is built to make us feel that we arenβt good enough (mostly so that it can sell us stuff to make us feel like we would be good enough if we just had that flatter stomach or different texture hair etc etc). We are up against a giant narrative that says if we donβt look this way or that way then we will never be happy. That said, believe me when I tell you...you are fabulous. Our world is more divine because you are in it exactly the way you are and I am so damn happy you are here. Build your own narrative to live by, begin by thanking your fabulous body for going to work for you each day. For being such an incredible home for your heart & soul. Gratitude is the birthplace of happiness and fulfillment. If you want to know where to begin when it comes to gratitude, start by saying Thank You. I love you.
Be like a cat, 90% chill 1% bothered :)
Happy Diwali, beautiful peeps! β¨π―π
Be like a tree and let the dead leaves drop ~ Rumi
The change in the air is now palpable. Autumn is truly in swing and we are being blessed by a kalaeidscope of colours as the trees sing their last hurrah in vibrant hues of gold, red and amber. This is hands down my favourite season, mostly because of how nature sweetly reminds us to pay attention...there is so much beauty around us despite the fading light and colder days. Autumn symbolically is a time for slowing down, moving inwards and shedding unwanted things so that we may conserve our energy for the upcoming winter months. The trees are wonderful teachers for showing us how gracefully that can be done...as the leaves fall away, the trees do not fight to hold onto them, they simply accept with faith that after this period of rest and austerity, new growth will appear. They draw energy inwards and remain patiently rooted.
Autumn is the prefect time to take stock of what is currently serving you in life and what is hindering you from aligning to your highest good. This is also a great time for cleansing and purifying (especially the respiratory and digestive system) so that we may free blocked energy and feel abundant during these contracted months.
What leaves do you wish to shed? Perhaps you wish to let go of an old grudge or forgive someone. Maybe you want to reassess an unhealthy relationship that is leeching your energy. Perhaps you want to detox by cutting out sugar, alcohol or trying a vegan diet. Maybe you're easily giving in to worries and anxieties that need to be replaced with positive affirmations. Maybe you need to love yourself as you are and let go of the inner critic that is telling you you're inadequate. Whatever your leaves are, resist clinging to them and find freedom in letting go.
The seasons humbly remind us that everything in life is cyclical, including ourselves and our innate rhythms. Everything in form and time eventually dissolves. Endings lead to new beginnings, we release the old to make way for the new...do not be afraid to let dead leaves go x
'Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it' - Rumi
Filled to the brim with love following tonight's heart centred new moon cacao gathering β€β€β€ thank you to all who came to surrender to the process of opening your heart and trusting its guidance. The more we can connect to the higher vibrational energies of love, gratitude, forgiveness, compassion and acceptance, the better we can heal the unresolved parts of ourselves (and ultimately the collective consciousness), moving beyond the illusion of egoic suffering and learned fear. Love is who you are at your very core β€
Excited to be starting a new 4 week yin yoga beginners course tonight at Body Studio! The Universe is intentional...
"The Law of Divine Compensation posits that this is a self-organizing and self-correcting universe: the embryo becomes a baby, the bud becomes a blossom, the acorn becomes an oak tree. Clearly, there is some invisible force that is moving every aspect of reality to its next best expression. And the universe is not only self-organizing, it is also self-correcting. The embryo becomes a baby; the baby is born; its lungs continue to breathe -- not only were they created but then they continue to breathe. The heart is not only created but it continues to breathe. If there is injury and disease that becomes present within the body, the body is also equipped with an immune system to correct that.
The metaphysical notion here is that that self-organizing and self-correcting imprint is on all aspects of reality. So not only was your body formed by this invisible hand, not only does your body continue to work by this invisible hand, but every aspect of your life -- emotionally, physiologically, and spiritually -- is also programmed to thrive" ~ Marianne Williamson

No class today 11.30 @ Becket Sports Centre. Sorry for short notice!! Enjoy your Sunday xx
This made me chuckle but it also holds so much truth. We are all on a path, whether it is obvious or not, and that path is constantly unfolding moment by moment. How we act now influences how the proceeding moment will be. Your path has a direction and it is navigable. Your path holds a deeper purpose than you think. When we learn to align mind with heart, our soul shines a kind of clarifying light that helps us to move in a direction that is aligned with a higher purpose, rather than an aimless, conflicted drifting often coloured by unconscious thoughts. Take note of your inner and outer bearings by pausing and observing throughout your day so that you can consciously map out a path that is truer to your inner being, one that is motivated by love π

Happy Solstice and World Yoga Day βπβ..
Together let's raise the collective vibration of the WORLD with a global AUM today at 6.30pm UK time (link below). Chanting mantras are an ancient and powerful way to create energetic shifts within and around you, resulting in peaceful, positive change. The whole universe is a vibrating tapestry of energy, you and I included, and so we have the ability to tune ourselves to vibrate at a higher loving frequency through using tools such as mantras, meditation and yoga. ..
AUM is considered the most potent of mantras as it contains the vibrations of the entire universe, including that from past, present and future - it transcends time itself. Meditation on AUM is transformative as it unites us to everything that is and fosters a deep sense of connection to all life. ..
A (aaa) signifies the waking, conscious, material state.
U (ooo) signifies the subconscious, inward mental state.
M (mmm) signifies the unconscious, deep dream/meditative state waiting to realise..
All 3 sounds blended together represent the divine energies of creation, preservation and destruction, and it leads to the 4th state of consciousness which is transcendence/enlightenment. ..
As you chant AUM (whether out loud or silently), feel the mantra resonate within every cell of your being and allow yourself to merge with the higher, collective consciousness, for the greater good of our world π
You certainly wonβt be alone in this daily practice.
Life changing talk...put some time aside for this one (and more importantly, put some time aside to meditate!)
Not only can we become unconsciously addicted to stress and negative thinking, but we can also become physically ill as a result of a toxic mindset. Meaning....our thoughts can literally make us sick. Our minds are good servants but lousy masters. The more we identify with negative, non-serving thoughts, the more we will reinforce this as our personal reality and our bodies will be voluntarily, yet subconsciously, lured into a state of internal chaos and imbalance. Stress prevents the flow of natural, divine intelligence throughout and within us....the unifying flow which brings order and harmony to all life. We often live in a contractionary state, concerned with personal survival and ego, inhibiting our infinite potential to create, share and love. When we learn to stop identifying with thoughts and emotions by becoming aware of them, by making the choice to sit with yourself and all of your internal tangles, you will come to realise that you are....none of those things. You are not your body, your mind, your senses, your assumed identity, your job, your circumstances, your judgements, your pain, your past. You are at your core, pure consciousness in this moment and no other.
Through non-doing, we become. Find a quiet place to be still, reflect and observe. Set a positive intention for your life in the current tense as if it is already happening. Meditation is the gateway to accessing your deep, undisturbed joy.

"Piglet?" said Pooh.
"Yes Pooh?" said Piglet.
"Do you ever have days when everything feels... Not Very Okay At All? And sometimes you don't even know why you feel Not Very Okay At All, you just know that you do."
Piglet nodded his head sagely. "Oh yes," said Piglet. "I definitely have those days."
"Really?" said Pooh in surprise. "I would never have thought that. You always seem so happy and like you have got everything in life all sorted out."
"Ah," said Piglet. "Well here's the thing. There are two things that you need to know, Pooh. The first thing is that even those pigs, and bears, and people, who seem to have got everything in life all sorted out... they probably haven't. Actually, everyone has days when they feel Not Very Okay At All. Some people are just better at hiding it than others.
"And the second thing you need to know... is that it's okay to feel Not Very Okay At All. It can be quite normal, in fact. And all you need to do, on those days when you feel Not Very Okay At All, is come and find me, and tell me. Don't ever feel like you have to hide the fact you're feeling Not Very Okay At All. Always come and tell me. Because I will always be there."
