Royster Middle School Vocal
RMS Vocal is a place to get up to date info on what's going on with the Vocal Department.
Today, in the 6th grade choir classes, students were given the opportunity to experience 1800’s food as found in the song Kansas Boys - hoecake, hominy and sassafras tea! Happy birthday, Kansas!
RMS choir students spent the day in Pittsburg at the district Honor Choir and band event. They did an excellent job! I also got to conduct the 5/6 grade honor choir and Mrs. Burnett was selected as the SEKMEA Elementary Music teacher of the year!
What a great day at Bethany College! Royster took 18 young men along with some elementary and high school guys to participate in Real Men Sing! They sounded amazing!
Christmas Caroling!!
Here are some more pics from yesterday’s Vocal Plus trip to KC. We had some food at Crown Center before driving back and finishing up with a performance at the Community National Bank Christmas party. They were exhausted but still performed their hearts out!
It’s been a great day so far up in KC!
Heading to KC for a long day of performances!
Mendy McMunn Burnett and I had a great time conducting (and accompanying) the Northwest KMEA Junior High honor choir yesterday! Thanks for being such a great host - Annie Hutson Adams!
This amazing group of USD 413 singers will be performing at the Real Men Sing event at 2:30 pm today. Check out the livestream here: https://www.facebook.com/bethanymusic
Congrats to these amazing students for being selected for the KMEA Middle Level State Honor Choir!!
Vocal Plus had a busy and exciting day! 4 nursing homes, one elementary school, a retired teachers group and a Chinese restaurant!
Thank you Home Savings Bank for your generous donation of $1,000 to the Royster Middle School Vocal program! To show their gratitude, the choir students made them a personalized bouquet!
Vocal Plus had a great time touring today! We sang at CHS, CES and four different nursing homes!
Downtown Christmas caroling!
RMS choir students had a great time caroling around downtown Chanute today! Thanks to all those who waved or said encouraging things!
It was a big week for RMS vocal students! We went to a master class on Motown by Masters of Soul where they performed for us and then let some of the students get on stage and play, sang at the NCCC tree lighting ceremony, had a guest clinician work with Vocal Plus (thanks Alan Murray!), and had an octet of talented singers perform the Star-Spangled Banner at a home basketball game! Also, if you’ve ever wondered what middle school boys like to do after they put their music folders up at the end of class, now you know…
So this happened! Vocal Plus got to sing at the Kauffman Stadium tonight! It was amazing!!!
Come on out this Saturday during Artist Alley to see Vocal Plus perform hits from the decades! 1:30 pm on the stage next to the library!
I’m so proud of these 8th graders! This was their last chance to sing the National Anthem together without 7th graders. Most of these singers have been with me since the 6th grade!
Here are the girls singing!!
I’m so proud of these girls for singing the Star-Spangled Banner today!! And for modeling our brand new concert masks!
Here’s a few of the vocal students who dressed up in Halloween costumes today! It was a blast!
Hippie day at RMS for me and the Bellas!!
Vocal Plus did a great job this last Thursday singing at the home football game!!
Josiah Bates getting the job done at the first RMS gone football game of the year!
Vocal Plus had their first full choir performance of the year! They did such a great job! Especially wearing masks. Definitely a first for me! My apologies to the sopranos who I was unable to get in the frame. We were trying to spread out as much as possible. 😬
I’m so proud of these girls!! Way to go Rhylee, Madi and Mavery!
Look who’s getting ready to sing the National Anthem!!!
It took awhile but I was finally able to get the Music Honor Society Medals and trophies out. I can’t wait to see what these students can do in high school!
