Chatterbrook WI
We meet every second Thursday of the month at Norton Community Hub at 7.00pm. All very welcome!
On Wednesday, despite the inclement weather, members from Chatterbrook and Tref-y-Clawdd had a wonderful afternoon visiting the gardens at Lower House Farm in Tenbury Wells, open as part of the National Garden Scheme. There were herbaceous borders, box-parterre, roses, kitchen and cutting garden and wildlife pond to see and was enjoyed by all.
Members of our walking group did the 5 miles Paradise Farm walk out of Presteigne, wonderful views and company π₯ΎβοΈ
Congratulations to all our entrants at the County Show who did us proud by bringing home a first and several thirds across the range of classes. We even brought home the Millennium trophy, shared with Nantmel, for the small table display - a picnic by the riverside. Thank you to everyone who took part!
We had fun at our meeting last night when we all got creative. Our members Soo, Vicky and Jeanette showed others either how to crochet, make a hedgehog from a book or make a peg doll. Arenβt we talented!
MEET YOUR LOCAL WI ON THE RIVER LUGG!
In support of various initiatives including the National Federation of WIβs campaign for Clean Rivers and the Rivers Trust Big River Watch, your local WIβs of Llangunllo and Chatterbrook will be celebrating the Welsh section of the River Lugg particularly from its source to the borders. Events will be run over the May Bank Holiday 4th to 6th in Llangunllo and Norton so please come and meet us at the following.
LLANGUNLLO
On Saturday 4th May river themed activities will run from 2.30pm until 4pm in Llangunllo Community Wildlife Garden (near the Greyhound pub) including:
What lives in the river bed? - Kick sampling led by Phil 'the bug man' and Dan of the Wilder Lugg project.
River scroll collaboration and other arts & crafts - for children and adults.
Also a chance to hear about River Lugg related developments at Pentwyn and to meet water monitors.
Look out for the Lugg Pop-up exhibition in the phone box at the centre of Llangunllo!
Radnorshire Wildlife Trust will be running a walking event between Pentwyn to Source of the Lugg on Saturday 4th of May, 9am until 1:30pm (please book online).
NORTON
On Monday 6th May the village of Norton is holding a Table Sale in the newly opened Norton Community Hub between 10am and 4pm. Chatterbrook WI will be running a River Lugg Treasure Hunt based on the river catchment with the chance to win a picnic hamper for two to enjoy on the riverbank of your choice! We will also highlight the work of the citizen scientists and link to the Wilder Lugg project.
Finally some blue skies for the walking groupβs 5 mile walk at Leintwardine this morning, little bit muddy in places but nothing we couldnβt handle and the fish and chips for lunch were delicious, thank you to Chris for leading the way π₯ΎβοΈ
Gail Jones from Powys National Garden Scheme gave a very interesting talk about the development of the NGS at our last meeting and wrote about her visit in the Brecon and Radnorshire Express. After seeing pictures of some of the beautiful gardenβs many of our members are now looking forward to visiting some of the local gardens during the summer βοΈπ©βπΎπͺ΄

What a beautiful day for a WI Walk π around Stapleton - tricky bit of path meant we had to double back, but made worthwhile by seeing 3 dear in the woods (too quick for the photographer!). Finished up along the Brink then back to the cemetery car park, 10,000 steps completed βοΈ
This came up on my iPad today, so happy we did the Dawn walk π Happy Weekend peeps π
